      it holds up but add support in the center and have the tanks sitting on 2x4s

      Hi Larry, if you go this route add 2x4s under the width of the tank base and vertical support in center. If you just throw on the metal rack u will notice the tank water line not level

    Awesome video! Im thinking about doing this also but with one 70g tank. How many gallons do you have per shelf?

      the tanks are 40 gallon breeders. if you get the 6 foot shelves support the center with 2x4s it will bow

    I don’t think that wire shelf holding water weight maybe if tank fit on the frame it’s self

      a better way to do this is to add 2x4 where the rim touches on the left and right sides of the tank

      It’s on cruise control with the flowerhorns. Only thing bad is it’s in the garage and I don’t really chill in there 😕😢

      AQUA FUNK W/ ANGEL FREAK it’s a tight fit but it’s faster than building one

    Is this rack what you have your 120 gal tanks on? What is the length of those tanks? I’m having issues finding a rack system that I can get my 125s onto. They’re about 1” too long to fit between the uprights..... Any ideas?

      Those are six foot tanks. I custom made with the 2x4. If you do build use 2x6 for the base

      @@prolificbreedaquatics My main goal with buying commercial shelving is the flexibility in height adjustment. When I build a wooden stand, I’m seldom pleased with the tank height and headroom from top of the tank to the next shelf.

    hey i have small 29 gallon tanks, will i be fine i they dont sit on the metal side railings? the tanks arent wide enough.. the tanks will sit on the metal grail

      iambryan I would get 2x4s and running across the metal beams. Have the tanks ends sit on the 2x4s

    Do you need to put a plywood below the tank and rank?

      Shyhhann Ji you don’t need to but it would be better with it. You can use 2x4s on the edge of each tank too. I watched aquarium coop do his warehouse for plants and it’s just sitting on the wire rack

      Still in garage but empty. It’s too expensive to heat the tanks in garage for winter

    ID OF PUT SOME KIND OF BOARD DOWN FIRST.definitely wouldn’t of put any kind of tank straight onto that wire frame 🤷

    Awesome video! Love the metal racks. For your shrimp tank, where did you purchase the mesh pre filter that screws into your overflow? That looks very clean!

    kinda looks like theyre sitting on the metal wire mesh instead of the frame. Have you have any issues?

      Ryin88 they are sitting on the mesh. I have not had any issues but I would recommend putting boards across and resting the ends of the tanks on the board.

      TerraMagnus it’s good. The new version has more support beams in between. If you have old version I would suggest adding support beams.

      You should add plywood and center brace for assurance.

      You should add center brace and 2x4 where the tank edge site. Search jadren aquatics for examples how he reenforced the metal shelf

      @@PANCAKECRAB1 either the plywood or you can do 2x4s running front to back and have the tanks rest on 2x4. The tanks will sit fine on the wire mesh but the center will sag a bit with out the extra support

      @@prolificbreedaquatics are yours doing fine? i’m just scared that the bottom of the tanks will crack because the design of the wire mesh are so dumb. only a few of the wires are double wired. but my tanks are sitting on the back and from main metal supports

      I had it going for a couple months before starting the reef tanks. Tanks are empty now. The bottom tanks are a chore to service

      prolificbreed I just changed out my double rack to these so I can stack two side by side for a total of 6 also.

    I love that rack. I'm guessing it is rated for the weight you will have. I've been on the fence between buying a rack or building one. Metal looks so clean and neat. Are you going to drill those tanks too?

      Wichita Falls Fishkeeper pros and cons to both. I have built shelves which is cheaper but it took me about a week the gather supplies cut and build and paint. Each shelf supposedly supports 1500 lbs. i originally wanted to drill and have the 4 top tanks plumbed to a sump but now I want to keep it simple with HOBs

    The amazon link says each shelf holds up to 2000 pounds but the home depot link says each shelf can hold up to 2500 pounds... I'm confused, and they're both priced very differently. Are they different shelves or something? Which one do you have?

    Did this end up working without putting anything under the tanks to support on the rack? I bought one but im hesitant to use it without putting some plywood to even out the weight.

      Add the ply wood. It worked for me but I had slight bowing. Others have used 2x4 across to have the ends of the tank test on
