I’m learning that people who aren’t in the industry just simply talk too much. They have no clue about the stuff we learn in school. They think we just go to “Hair school.” They don’t know we have to know about chemistry to formulate color. They don’t know that we have to know about anatomy and physiology because we have to learn about head shapes, face shapes and the under tones of people’s skin. They don’t know that we have to learn about diseases. They don’t know that we cover everything under the Cosmetic Arts umbrella from Nails to Skin to Barbering. We have to learn various cutting and coloring techniques.
They think damaged ends can be saved. Cut it off so the split ends don’t ride up and break off worse. Furthermore, if the client is not complaining why is anyone else complaining?

It should be common sense, but it's very apparent common sense is no longer common! SMDH
But sometimes, a lot of the times people go in there not wanting ALL of the hair (that need to be cut) cut off all at once because it may be a drastic change and they might want to transition slowly but some hairstylist decide to just disregard the clients wishes and cut it all off right then and there because that’s what THEY want to do which is why a lot of them are labeled as scissor happy. A lot of the time the hair really doesn’t even seem that damaged but they be TOO pumped to cut it off anyway. They can make more appointments you know.
Some of y’all love to throw in that “We went to beauty school” shtick over any damn thing. Okay, but what does that have to do with anything? Sis asked for a trim, half her hair is gone (just an example, not referring to this video by I know someone reading this would’ve thought I was somehow). And there are tons of people who went to hair school who don’t know how to do hair :/.
Personally I think alot of people don't understand just how terrible their ends are too..so they assume someone's trying to cut off all their hair. I know some people really have had bad experiences but this is just a thought

Some people just can't let go of the 5 long strands and understand healthy hair is best. Even if the 5 long strands are hip length and the rest is shoulder length! 🤦🏾♀️
If you only cut a little people will complain. If you cut what needs to be cut they still complain. You do EXCELLENT work Janay! And it's obvious your clients are pleased!!! Keep shining sis!

I have not seen a scissor happy cut from you .. I am also someone who would rather not hold onto length if the hair is not healthy 🤷🏾♀️.I am sure you consult with the clients before any cut or trim.. When you are done the hair always looks healthier and more full after the trims IMO looks beautiful from here ❣️♥️❣️

China Dall I subscribe to those who are consistent that's very important to me when I watch hair vids.... and this stylist is just that. If she switches it up it's not to major also to mention the music keeps you so engaged.
You know way too many people would rather hold on to 2 inches of split ends than get a proper cut, and most times when ppl call someone scissor happy, it's just that they refused to accept this truth. I don't care what people say. No one has NICE long hair without getting it properly cut.

I've had people practice on my hair without my consent to be honest. Sometimes stylist want to try a cut that they haven't found a hair model or client willing enough. Any cut whether it be a trim or something structured requires maintenance because your hair is transitioning. Which requires seeing your stylist on a regular basis. Right now I'm focusing on rice and soy proteins as a substitute for wheat protein in lieu of recent talks about over moisturized curls. So I'm comparing Curls Blueberry Bliss to Mielle Organics Pomegranate & Honey lines. I've also switched out my Denman Brush for a Tangle Teaser Brush that is design for stretch blow drying with direct contact with the hairdryer. As I try to learn how to best use this Tangle Teaser Blowdrying Brush I'm not interested in cutting my hair. I just want to focus on learning about my hair.
I don't think your scissor happy at all but it is good to cut the scraggly ends off because they will eventually break off anyway. In the past I would normally cut off two inches off mine for a nice fresh clean cut and I would notice that it would grow back even longer, healthier, and quicker when I cut all of those scraggly ends off then when I would try to preserve them. A hairstylist broke it down to me some years back and I decided to listen to her and it worked!

Sweet Janay, I think you did a wonderful job on her hair-including the trim. Her hair was uneven with very bad ends that needed to come off and she left your chair with a beautiful head of hair because of your skills. Awww I wish I had you around. I cut my hair back into a fade pretty much when I only needed to make it even. I was so frustrated with my ends and just said screw it. I big chopped for nothing. I know it’ll be back in less than six months but you still always miss your length. 😤😋

people have to learn how to communicate effectively and say what they expect a trim is cutting off damage but if you talk to your stylist and say what's the most length I can keep and still be healthy they work with you and put you on a schedule
I told my BF I'm strongly considering the 4 hour drive to get in your chair because I trust no one cutting or handling my hair. He said I would be crazy to drive that far but your work is amazing idc who would think I'm crazy lol

See I know my ends are horrible so I wouldn't be surprised if stylists tried cutting my hair shorter than I would like. However because it takes so long for me to grow my hair, I only cut like a half inch off my ends, so I'll still have split ends, but don't cut it all at once because I'm terrified of having short hair.
