I saw Julie’s. And I tried it with the Mint Julep. They are ok. But, like a previous person commented, I should have used a hi gloss poly. Mine don’t shine. They are still cute tho. Oh! I have a metal tree like Yvonne’s! Yay!!! I was wondering what I am going to use the ornaments on.
Everyone & their brown dog is doing this jadeite color in DIYs---& I totally approve. You went crazy, what fun! One thing tho, as someone who has a small collection of both old & repro jadeite, it is glass, so if you want that authentic look, you need a high-gloss finish. Even better, do the trick where you swirl the paint, some mod podge, a little water on the INSIDE of a glass ornament (or anything clear). It will look pretty close to the real thing. I'm glad you didn't paint a green Santa (carsick?), but I love the ornaments & the mercury glass tree. I think the ornaments would be spectacular on a white/off-white tree with black ornaments; black & cream & jadeite green was THE color combination of the art deco period. Silver ornaments would be awesome too, or a christmas ball wreath. Oooo, now you've inspired me!
I agree. I don’t understand this trend since jadeite, like you said, is glass and very glossy. The color is gorgeous though and great ideas for glossy finish or inside a glass ornament.
That's the exact same color that was all the rage in 1953 when my father and two friends drove from Oregon to Detroit, Michigan, where my dad bought with cash a "jadeite" green 1953 Plymouth sedan straight off the assembly line. Then they turned around and drove all the way back to Oregon with their new cars. Nice to see that color is back. 😊
Seems like green is the new white for many decorators. I love the green color. Ive always liked that green with pink and black, with little silver or old gold thrown in.
That's my accent color in my master bedroom, walk-in closet, and my toddlers bedroom. I started incorporating it into my master bedroom about 3 years ago and my son's room when he was born 4 years ago. I absolutely ❤it
Beautiful as always! And the black ribbon totally gives the ornaments a classic finished look. I'm sooo looking forward to seeing your home after you've decorated for Christmas! Thank you again! I do sooo very much derive sooo much pleasure from your videos!God Bless ❤❤❤
To loosen the star on the top of your tree, apply heat to it. Emerald green and beiges are terrific contrasts for the tree. paint the edges of the branches of the tree white. It would be gorgeous.
Oh La La loving that Jadeite. Your so right about loving a color. I do the exact thing, looking for other items I can paint cuz I’m a loving the color. Did it the other day with my milk paint ( the old time green we like). You’ll definitely have to show us how you arranged your Jadeite for Christmas. I would love to see that. Have a confession to make. I love Jadeite but being almost 73 yrs old I never knew that it glowed until I started watching you. Okay, the cats out of the bag. I said it n admit it. ♥️♥️😊👍👍🌟🌟
When I saw the Mercury glass tree it reminded me that Dollar tree has a Tree drink dispenser, in the plus section, thats a very good size for $5 if anyone was interested in recreating your tree. I thought of removing the spigot and ligthing them up myself. Thanks for the video!
To go! Oh I absolutely absolutely love this color and this idea how elegant they look with the black velvet ribbons. I think they're black velvet. They look so high-end. Wonderful idea! Thank you for sharing. I might have to include some of that in my tree too😊
Beautiful color. I watched a video where the color Spring Green by Apple Barrel was used on ornaments. I like that color for Jadeite ornaments but then I found Jadeite Glass by Americana and really fell in love. So I have some ornaments in medium and light "jadeite" color. I found red and white checked ribbon to go on mine.
Hello Yvonne! Everything turned out beautiful! They look pretty authentic. Thanks for sharing. I purchased a large white ceramic tree with the tiny bulbs for $12.00! The first 3 inches of the top was broken off and missing. I brought it home and formed the missing piece out of clay. Made sure the star would fit securely. Now it's good as new! Hope you give us a Christmas decor tour of your home this year. Take care and God bless 😊
You must have seen Julie’s Designs and Signs. I loved it too and am happy to see how you are doing this project. I love getting good ideas from you!
I did not.. but I guess I need to.. since many are commenting that. I would have happily gave her credit..
