My first musical instrument love was drums. I used to have some Buddy Rich, Gene Kruppa and Sandy Nelson records when I was a kid, I wore them out. But when I tried to be a drummer in school our band director decided I was more suited to play the Sousaphone. My drumming career ended before it started. Besides I had so many friends that were great drummers at the time it made no sense for me to try playing drums so I took up the bass guitar and 6 string guitar instead. Even though I play guitars, now I still have a passion for great drum playing. My modern day favorites would range from Billy Cobham, Steve Gadd, Mike Mangini, Mike Portnoy, Jason Costa, Terry Bozzio among others, and I absolutely love Anika. Listening to you reminds me of listening to Billy Cobham after Mahavishnu Orchestra and Steve Gadd during his Al Di Meola days in the 70's. I love your playing, you are an inspiration.
My 3 years old son said : wow, she plays loud :) And he clapped his hands at the end ! Hats off Anika ! You play drums with so much musicality ! You make me want to keep practicing after 25 years of drumming. Hope to see you live someday !

What I appreciated while meeting her during a masterclass in Paris is that she also remains very humble (if that is a correct english word...?). On the other hand, I really keep wondering what these 16 people who disliked the video meant to blame her for. The playing is awesome, the creation as well, and I don't like people not-liking without saying why. That's quite dishonest, and small-minded....
While yours is not my type of music and style of drumming, I can still appreciate the skill required to play this. Another thing I greatly appreciate is that you don't rely on your sexual appeal like some girls do on YT. I wish more girls would be like you and less like "look at my body in a sexy lingerie while I'm trying to make sense on my instrument". I think, the only thing stopping women from being taken seriously is falling for sexist ideals of men.

To add to my other comments below, this track keeps me coming back, there is more and more depth each time I listen. You work with a wonderful group of musicians. This Fusion style of playing is what has been missing in current music. From my vantage point, you are inspiring many new players into this genre of instrumental music...keep it coming...your musicianship grows with each composition.
Anika, I loved every minute of this...but especially from 3:19 - 3:42. I keep rewinding that part over and over again. This part has a bit of extra attitude and power and when you do the breakdown at 3:20 to bring the beat back, its extremely simple but it makes a big statement. The entire song is powerful, but I love this part in particular!
I come from the Niel Peart and Dave Weckl liking. But I seriously found my new favorite drummer. I am floored. I just listened to all your youtube videos and I'm am simply wowed....
