    "Sreetips" is the RUclips guy you want to watch if you want to learn how to refine gold. He shows how to inquart, mix acids and dissolve gold. He also shows you how to precipitate the gold in solution back into gold metal. He's very thorough.

    I would suggest corn flaking the gold/silver amalgam to increase surface area. All you do is pour it in water when it's molten. also you can add water as it boils to keep it hydrated. You don't want to add much water at a time.

    If you "cornflaked" your enquartered gold first and used nitric acid to break down the silver first you would then pour off green coloured liquid which You should be able to get your silver back also Jason then use your hydrocloric and hydrogen peroxide to just melt the gold the ln precipitate the gold mud into pure gold then you would do a bit better I think great effort for first time though

    • @PatringtonPirateProductions
      @PatringtonPirateProductions 5 месяцев назад +2

      Sorry if im arse about face with the acids as in the UK we can't get nitric I use high concentrated sulfuric acid until there's nothing left bit pure gold mud then use hydrocloric and hydrogen peroxide to dissolve the gold mud and precipitate using SMB before putting on the crucible you can also get your silver back using lye and sugur defo worth watching streetips

    • @johnfarrow5873
      @johnfarrow5873 5 месяцев назад

      No hydrochloric if you're just looking to do the gold you don't need to use acuragia if you mix hydrochloric with the nitric you're going to put the gold into solution and that's not what he was trying to do he was simply try to take out the silver

    • @PatringtonPirateProductions
      @PatringtonPirateProductions 5 месяцев назад +1

      That's fair comment also It would be better refined if he put the gold in solution and precipitated it back though as what he has done is added silver to gold then just removed the silver again putting gold in solution then precipitating it back would get the gold purified that's your next step I'm guessing though Jason well done

  • @blacklabelonthebedrocks
    @blacklabelonthebedrocks 5 месяцев назад +2

    Hey Jason!
    Good job!
    I've got two things to add:
    3:50 First rule:
    Never pour water into acid!
    Especially for sulfuric acid.
    Pour the acid into the water. ALWAYS!
    If you pour water into concentrated sulfuric acid, the first drops may boil and cause a steam blowout (especially in tall vessels).
    The water of the water-nitric acid mix is for dissolving the silver nitrate.
    14:00
    The gold should look like crumbs of chocolate powder. Your alloy wasn't mixed properly.
    All the best!

    ALWAYS add water to acid, not acid to water. Do it wrong and you get a steam explosion that blows acid all over, put a pan under the burner to catch spills. one the size of your hood would be good... gives a big work surface
    little corn starch shaken in the glove will help it slide on, plus it absorbs sweat
