When I put my new valve covers on with that same type of alternator, I had to Clock, the alternator which other people had mentioned. That particular style alternator, take off the pulley and the fan and loosen the three bolts. Take them out that hold the front cover on you just have to tap it just enough so you can rotate the front opposite of back to get the right clock position and re-tighten it. You don’t even have to pull it all the way apart because some of those are soldered together the connections and you can’t take it all the way. 15 minute job tops.
Pro tip a charging alternator will have a magnetic field on the rear bearing. You can test it with a screwdriver lightly touching the back center of the alternator.
From a guy who owns a Fleetwood 75, to you guys, your life has just changed. These cars are incredible. Driving them is amazing, but you have to sit in the back from time to time, and have someone else you trust drive it, so you can enjoy the full experience. Cheers, from New Zealand.
Hannah, just because you have an air mattress in a U-haul truck don't make it and air B and B , unless you leave the bank door up You 2 are gonna curupt jayla 🤣
GM alternators are very easy to clock. Just google it no need to wait My guess is most all your issues are voltage related i have two vehicles with the same motor and have had almost identical issues when the alt fails. Love the cadi!
funny how your intro is at the gas station right by my house lol....I know your in southern Indiana but if you guys need anything custom painted let me know..be happy to do it for ya.
My folks had had a white Limo just like yawls, to haul 6 kids around back in the early 70's. Dad was in the Airforce so it was a Volkswagen Bus for a while till the Limo came around. My older 3 siblings would have mom stop a block from school and let them out, They would not be caught dead in it. We moved to Germany and had it shipped over there, I thought we were PIMPEN!!! LOL
Make sure the ground lead isn't just connected to the block, aluminum gets hot and you loose your ground, you'll be replacing more alternators. It's best to keep the ground lead connected to the steel alternator bracket. Great video good looking ole limo, looking forward to see what you do with her.
Man , Michigan Adventure is a 15min. drive from my house . Wish I knew you were coming up . I have Grandkids working there . I could of got you some free tickets .
Hey Cory. To check a Alternator to see if it is Charging. Put a Screwdriver on the rear Bearing of Alternator. It will Magnet to Screwdriver. If it don't. It's Not Charging.
Probably too late now but the older GM rebuilds or new after market alts had to be clocked or rotated into the correct position. But if not done correctly when the case halves were opened up things inside could jump out of place (mainly the brushes)) Enjoyed the video as always. Cummins12v or 24v that Caddy. Take care folks.
You guys did great only thing i see is you need AAA for those moments when all hell breaks loose..but 10 years from now when you roughed it out is going to put a smile on your face
You guys were about an hour and a half south of me and those people were camping in Travers City which is about an hour from me!! If you ever get back to this area say something on Wednesday night so I might have a chance to see you. Glad you made it home safely and that’s another awesome Caddy
The pre OBD2 GM fuel injection you have to disconnect that brown wire to set timing to zero. Once it’s reconnected the computer takes over.awesome car keep up the videos!
Lesson learned, if you're having car issues and it's still running and not overheating. Keep going till you get to the next town, or at least get to a gas station.
You did the right thing Cory staying with the gals and the car. Walking around in unformilar neighborhoods is not a wise decision. Good thing you made a call to your Pop's glade you made that call.
Love you guys Haowever we hate Air B and B's Nothing is worse than a bunch of people living in the house next to you don't know.and thay driving through your nabershood like thay just don't care about you are your family.Hope you guys have a good trip.
Good on you Kory stay with your wife and niece. Get classic car insurance that provides roadside assistance and your roadsides will be less of a drama. Hope the engine miss is the alternator. BTW the "clocking" on alternators is a problem due to unqualified folks assembling alternators to stuff in Oriely and AutoZone boxes. Keep wrenching...
While the engine is running, disconnect the battery, if not stays running, the altenator is charging. If it quits, it wasn't charging and running off of the battery only, and will only last so long before the battery is too low to run the ignition and fuel pump (if it's electric pump).
Good afternoon wish I had known yall was in Michigan I could have came and helped yall out when you needed help thanks lonnie's dj service from bad axe mi
Congratulations on getting the 62. An LS conversion is nice and having fuel injection is a big plus, no offense to the naturally aspirated folks out there. Cory I couldn't agree more with not leaving the girls alone in an area that you are not familiar with, good man! 👍
It was very cool that you had J bird with you when picked up the car. I could not have had a better couple get this car from me, thank you.
We love it !!! We really do appreciate it !! Thank you again !!!
Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain. May God Bless you all
Easier said than done for some of us unfortunately because sometimes that rain brings massive mudslides with it.

This is why anything over 20 miles my trailer follows me and I can work the bugs out at home 😊

My kids always tell me “ we don’t need triple A, we have ABR…” 😂😂😂
Nothing parties like a rental!!! It’s definitely worth the extra few bucks for insurance 😂😂😂

Wait....a uhaul as a stay-in rental camper??? That's a novel idea 😂🤯
What A Car! Awesome!
Glad you all made it back ,and made new friends.
The first thing I would have checked, would’ve been the fuel filter
That flamed T Bucket was cool. That's what you guys need in your collection.
Hope you gave the couple that stopped some t-shirts.
😂 J put up the window while he was talking...
It's awesome that you take your niece along ❤
This car is exceptional. I love it. A Caddy station wagon will only appeal to certain people and most of those are dead.
Love your videos, but for someone that has several tow vehicles and trailers, you guys must love driving them home.
Thanks for taking us along.
Looked like a good trip none the less.
Thanks for the video! You kids sure get into some fixes. That’s one cool limo!✌️
You can take the bolts out of the alternator and clock the two halves where you need the connections to be.
Welcome to Yankee town nobody stops to offer to help! You guys need to move South.

Wish i had seen that you were broke down near Michigan City. I would've let you use my garage and tools. Your channel is great.
Had a older chevy truck that the furl pump was going out. If you gave it gas it wouldn’t accelerate. But still run a max of 30mph
You never know when your entertaining angels 🙏
That car is sweet
Travers city is the last city in the lower part of Michigan. My mom's family have stayed at spider lake, just south of Travers city.
Cadillac looks like fun you guys have fun with it you’ll get it figured out quickly
That’s one way of doing it 😂😂

You are the best Uncle Buck.
once again great video
Should have had Oriellys scan the computer while you were there. Would have given you a better idea of what is wrong. I do love the '54 caddy hubcaps.
Your dad is a good man!
Awsome Caddie ❤
I love vintage Cadillacs❤
Dang, was hoping it was the red Ford truck
That's my wife's truck.
@@jamesmoore6146 I love those old dent sides
@@jamesmoore6146 BTW, you share a name with my primary care doctor. He’s a friend as well. 😂
Sweet!!!❤
Congrats guys ;)
My thoughts would be That LT1 and the optispatk under the water pump.
When it rains it pours so do a rain dance lol😂😂😂
That Caddy looks mint .
That car is awesome!!
Dang, we live in Muskegon! Right by Michigan's Adventures

something to help you next time you can remove the 4 bolts and reclock the alternator to fit
I sure wished I could have helped you guys. I was only 8 miles from you. I was in Niles Michigan when your facebook messaged you.
Traverse City, MI...one of the best places in the United States
I’m not a Macanic but I don’t go anywhere with out some tools
Hi Hannah, Looking Good !! : )
You can take the four bolts on the alternator off and rotate the back wherever you need it to set without pulling it apart.
Kool ... we live just a little south of holiday world.
Congratulations on getting the 62. An LS conversion is nice and having fuel injection is a big plus, no offense to the naturally aspirated folks out there. Cory I couldn't agree more with not leaving the girls alone in an area that you are not familiar with, good man! 👍
nice ride....id guess you have coil issue...
OMG I LOVE IT
Now that I think about it, The guy that put the alternator on originally may have turned the back half of the alt to fit his needs.
Good video Homies
I 100% support buying more junk and projects
I had one do that to me,it was the mass air flow sensor that was bad.
The adventure of old cars being driven home after purchase.
