Only just now connected that Max Payne 1 is essentially the retelling of Ragnarok. BB is Loki, Alex Balder (Baldur the norse god) Balder death causes Max's rampage, the long winter in Max Payne that didn't end until the end was the same setting as Ragnarok as Baldur's death created a harsh winter. Alfred Woden is Norse God Odin.
All of the shows in max Payne 2 have a connection to max or one of the characters. Shows like dick justice and address unknown are used to shows different sides of max's psyche. That's what I think

It's mostly just seasoning and world building, but there are a couple of subtle plot connections with the TV shows in the world and Max's own life.
