Congrats on a quick turnaround! I was just laid off this week and have found this series incredibly helpful as I think about how I move forward in my job search. Please continue making videos with tips for interviewing and applying. This is so helpful for so many people right now, myself included. You have a new sub here 😊

I am so sorry to hear that! I am wishing you nothing but the best in your job search! I actually created a new channel that is all about tips for finding jobs and advice. I decided to create a separate channel for those videos because everyone has really inspired me to post more of those videos to help others find jobs. My new channel is called Ashley Gets You Hired. Here is the link www.youtube.com/@AshleyGetsYouHired/featured. I will be moving one or two of my videos I posted to this channel to that channel and post a new job hunting tip to that video in the coming days! Make sure you check it out!

I am very happy for you! Congratulations! I know quite a few high tech folks that worked for the big names that got laid off and most of them are working already.

Congratulations! Glad you found something so quickly. I would definitely like to see a commute vlog. I am remote so you can remind me how good I have it! And please keep making videos with interview tips!

Haha yea I’m hoping the commute won’t be too bad. I know I will probably enjoy it more on the summer than in the winter! I will definitely do a vlog about commuting into the city for work.

Glad to see that you landed a new job. From the videos I could see you are very professional as a recruiter. It would be only a matter of time before u get a offer.

This video really inspired me as my job ended Jan 6th but I was notified a month in advance and knew that wasn’t enough time to land something else. I’m making a spreadsheet so I can start tracking better! Normally I just do it in my head. Did you follow up with all of those jobs you applied too or just certain ones? Also is it better to apply directly on the career site or job board? Thank you!

Congrats. I am just wondering what is the best way or timing to tell the company that you are looking for a new job because you got laid off? What if they didn’t ask, should you mention it during the conversation? (For example, what project you are working on now? ) Or just wait till they ask?

    • @theveldmanway

Right away! When I reached out to Recruiters on LinkedIn about a job I mentioned it in my message to them. When you complete an application it will ask for start and end dates and most of the time it will have a line that asks why you left. Always be honest and transparent why you left a job right away whether it’s a layoff, termination, or just because you felt like leaving to find something else. I have rescinded many offers in my career to people who lied about being currently employed and when we run their employee verification we find out that is not the case. With all of the layoffs going on right now, most hiring managers/Recruiters won’t even question your layoff. Most of these layoffs going on right now have nothing to do with performance issues.

@@theveldmanway I agree. Being honest is always the key. I am just curious that whether we should mention it even without being asked. Cause most likely, no one will ask you that question to the face, but ask indirectly in anther way (such as when you can start the new job if you get the offer, stuff like that).
      Thanks for the reply.
