This was the most spectacular thing Michael Andretti did in F1.

He did score a podium at monza but this outshines that

The best part of this video is that there is no ultra-annoying song played over the top!

The good old days when they actually knew what a local yellow was. Gone forever.

I am not gonna go as far as that. I am a fan of Andretti, and here in the US he is well reconized. He had committment issues but the going up along side the greatest racing driver who ever lived, is gonna make difficult. He wasn't suited for F1 and other F1 drivers treated him with little respect outside of Senna. Villenueve didn't seem to have a lot of problems switching over.

I think the lack of commitment contributed to the lack of respect.

    Shocking race director.

That’s the way it used to be back in the 90s, local directors for each race and 9 times outta 10 stuff would get missed or replays would be inconsistent.

Geez-Murray Walker and James Hunt !!!!
    World Champion in 1976.
He died very soon after this- a great loss because he was a very good co-commentator, there are plenty of clips on RUclips of them both commentating...Murray excitable and high pitched-James, urbane and calm
(he was usually full of hangover on a Sunday afternoon!)

    @falmark187
Yet Mansell won more races and scored more points in the FW14 than Prost managed in the FW15.
It was typical of Prost to position himself for a Williams drive in 1993 and force Mansell out. Prost was a politician off the track and a fairly boring, by-the-numbers, driver on it.
Prost never had the true racer's instinct of Senna or Mansell. Whilst Prost was busy underperforming the FW15, Mansell was winning a title in another country at the first time of asking. Says it all.

@Hasselnorris its the FW15 not 14,but yes it did practically drive itself.
And with Prost behind the weel it drove even better. And another thing this clip shows us is the class of Prost and Senna the were in a they were in a leguage of their own. Prost almost unstoppeble in the Williams and the only one that was close to him in the beginning of the Race was Senna.

@DjReLaX231 He was the drvier who scored the most points the season before, as Prost had taken a sabbatical. Williams was the constructor's champion, but none of their two drivers could use number 1, as Nigel Mansell had fled to America. Damon Hill then went for number 0, in the same way that he wore that same number in 1994.

@Kyoshomies yeah, I can see your point. f1 should be by far the most powerful series of them all. besides it's all got too confusing, there's too much messing about with KERS, adjustable wings, then they can only use it after a certain number of laps, under certain circumstances, blah blah blah. then they started talking about artificial rain. I mean, wtf?!?! it's all going to the dogs

  • @rdtli

agree . mario said that michael s move of does not live in europe was a mistake... but we can see clearly the same thing happening nowadays in renault.... piquet jr does not have a chance to be compared with two time champion alonso.. he s a rookie together with a giant.. no comparison.. my friend ..cheers from brasil

really? so, according to your comment, today's f1 cars are a bit faster than gp-2?! so how will you explain the simple fact that, back in 1993, prost won that pole position with the time 1:20.557, while it took Webber 1:13.826 to grab pole in 2010. both in dry conditions. so tell me again how slow those cars are nowadays. but I can still agree on 1 thing with you. that it was much more exciting back in the 90's

agree with something with ya .... my friend ... but the poor amount of testing was his own fault... i think he s a great driver , while i think that kyle busch and jeff gordon are too .. and i think they would be succesful in an open wheel challenge like formula one... just one point ... different schools ya re right .. but when you pick some drivers who during the past yearmade the inverse move .. ya can see that they ve achieved more succes like mansell , E.fittipaldi , etc... cheers brasil

Only F1 bureaucrat worshipping, America haters continue to put down world class race drivers like Andretti. For the amount of testing he had with F1, he's probably in the top 5 of all modern time. All the other Euro/South American drivers were born and raised on shifter karts, then the F1 ladder. I'd challenge ANY driver on the planet to jump in one of those cars from that era and put yourself on the podium in only a few races, which he did in Italy!
