    Excellent tutorial on what a bad valve looks like and the symptoms of a bad valve.

    The valves that came out of my 3 HP looked good, but the valve stems are worn out on both valves. I've never seen a valve quite this bad before LOL thumbs up man!

    @1972FordF150 yeah might as well if you got it all apart. that should be alright, might change when you drop new valves in it. probably be more clearance and have to keep reseating till they get tight. the 12.5 this valve is out of i had to grind like 10 thousandths off of it. i was surprised, but the valve seat looked like new on this engine.

    yes it sure can, if could be burnt like the example in this video or just simply need reseated. On single cylinder engines its really noticeable, they will back fire and or miss like crazy. thanks for watching!

    @1972FordF150 yeah editing videos is a life saver haha up in till this past spring, i didn't edit my videos at all. then i discovered the youtube editor started using that. now i got software with my new camera, and i use that. and sometimes i still use the youtube editor

    @1972FordF150 i hear ya. that would make a nice video, you planning on making a video of it?

    @fnaguitarplayer9 No problem! I think my valve guides would be way tighter with new valves in it. But it doesn't really burn oil so it's not that big of a deal. But they do chatter like hell when it's cold and idling.

    What about the other side?does it matter too?

  • @fnaguitarplayer9
    @fnaguitarplayer9  13 лет назад

    @1972FordF150 yeah probably would be. better to do it sooner though, after while it will start wearing the valves (pitting) and the seats too. talking about chattering, i hate adjusting valve clearance on flatheads, either have to weld the stems up or grind off. haha, thats the only thing i don't like about them.

    @fnaguitarplayer9 This thing needs a new head gasket so maybe I will put new valves in it when I do that. Time to tear the valves back out of it again hahaha. I've never messed with the clearance but on 3 HP engines it's supposed to be 6 thousandths and both of these valves are at 5.

    @1972FordF150 yeah the valve stems tend to wear out alot on these small engines. And so do the valve guides. same here, this is the worst one i've ever had to haha thanks!

    can a valve problem cause a misfire in cylinder 1?

    @fnaguitarplayer9 What I usually do is do the whole job and then edit out the crappy parts when I get it on the computer, or make 2 videos then put them together and edit them haha

    That's a good bad valve!

    @1972FordF150 hahahaha well to make it easier make seperate scens and use the editor to edit them and put them all together in one video. makes shooting videos much easier. like my video on rebuilding/cleaning briggs one piece carbs, i was hoping the whole time that i wouldn't mess up and have to start over, which i did once, 5 minutes into it haha that was a pain! but sometimes it does get annoying making videos haha
