    Chuck D is BEAST! Agreeing to rap with Anthrax on their metal cover of P.E.'s Bring the Noise, and now guest appear on the metal cover of Fight the Power. Not many artists like to appear on covers of their own songs.

    Tbh, I think Dillinger are just on a whole other level from so many other bands. For example, VoM is just Marc Okubo, whereas although you could argue that Dillinger is just Ben Weinman, I have so much respect for every drummer they've ever had - they all bring their own touch - and then Greg Puciato always does such a good job of vocals.
    I think also, they're experienced at doing covers and they do them very tastefully, trying not to diverge too far from the original song.

    Listening to this really exposes how formulaic Dillinger's songwriting has gotten. Don't get me wrong, I love their whole discography to death, and I'd kill to be in a band half as good as them. That said, you can definitely tell that ben recycles many of the spastic rhythms you hear. Same voicings for chords/notes, same key or whatever he's using. It's a killer formula, but for some reason this song made it really apparent to me.

    • @DaSlothMaster
      @DaSlothMaster 7 лет назад

      Douche Bag Dillinger shapeshifts pretty frequently. Obviously there's a difference between albums as people's musicianships change drastically throughout the years. The point still stands that, underneath all the production and layering, there is a formula, plain and simple. That's not a bad thing however. I'm just pointing out that it's extremely obvious in this cover

    • @user-xo1jb5nr4g
      @user-xo1jb5nr4g 7 лет назад

      +The Sloth. I mean... I'll take that compared to what I thought you meant. But at the risk of sounding biased because I love the album, One of Us is the Killer had a completely foreign feel to me... as where option paralysis seemed like b sides from Ire Works

    • @user-xo1jb5nr4g
      @user-xo1jb5nr4g 7 лет назад

      +The Sloth. but I think you're right in that you can listen to this and the single Farewell Mona Lisa and sense the same plan of attack.

    • @ThyAsianMan
      @ThyAsianMan 7 лет назад

      Yeah, you're right. It's a reason I wasn't able to get as much into their last album as much as I could with an album like Option Paralysis. It sounded too much like all the other songs I already heard from them. That's why I think Dillinger is best when they're experimenting with their sounds. For me, Option Paralysis has a more rock vibe than their other albums, and it makes it my favorite because they mix that element really freaking well with the Dillinger sound we're all familiar with.
