Do people actually play it? Like really, it's Alpha Aurora-like unit, but is available even earlier. If someone would destroy my whole base with two aerial units 3000 for both and one special power, I would just remove that game honestly lol
XYHC spoil alert: they are insanely good vs everything too, maybe except the almighty harbinger gunship. Allies in Uprising is even more OP. Literally unbeatable.
I may not play RTS games competitively, as I usually enjoy playing vs ai with people, but if a unit is so op that an AI can piss me off with it without any micro, then we have a problem. Cryo copters may just be the most broken unit in rts games ever, and I have some reasons. 1. Freezing enemy units to prevent movement is ok, but the fact that most things oneshot frozen targets is unacceptable. 2. Shrink ray is great at preventing enemy attacks or doing some stupid plays with micro units. The fact that just a couple of these things can lockdown an entire ground army with minimal micro is really OP, and would've even made other factions op if given to them.
@@goldman1115 Honestly, Now that I have better context, cryocopters arent the whole problem. In fact, allies in general are not the most op faction in rts games. The problem is that freezing stuff is unfun to play against. It literally denies you of fun, and then instakills any unit that fully freezes. This has happened a lot in rts games where factions are mechanically hated and get a serious bad rep, especially ones with mechanics that aren't fun to fight against or factions with strengths so good that their weaknesses dont matter
@@goldman1115 the reason freeze is unfun is because it is a movement impairing effect in an rts, a genre about micro management. Even without the instakill at full freeze thing it would still be annoying, and the full freeze is just stab wound to injury. Plus, Cryocopters can stop even anti air before they can kill you if you are skilled enough due to their bulk and ability to slow and shrink. Plus, lets not forget that Allies have more cryotech (Cryoggeddon why do you exist). Again, I dont watch competetive games so maybe its less of a problem than I think but from a beginners perspective its not good design.
The irony of the Cryocopter being OP is simple: the Cryocopter is a dedicated support unit, meaning it cannot destroy other units by itself. Regardless of using the cryo or shrink beam, it always needs another unit to clean up the mess (shatter the now-frozen or crush the shrunken unit). It also means Cryocopters cannot gain veterancy via conventional means, cause the unit itself has to fight and actually destroy units by itself to be promoted.
And Allied players ASKS FOR BUFF??? This is probably the most OP unit of all strategy games to date, way pass “supposedly op” prism tanks. High skill cap for sure, but nearly 1000 HP after upgrades? 1/3 of a slow Kirov and move quickly....Oh, don’t forget about that even more op harbinger gunship, albeit vulnerable to spies (tier 3 units). Yet still people think allies are weak? What do they want? Freeze beam can kill units on their own? One cryocopter to shut down an entire build? Insta freeze of any unit of any size? What else? If tournaments can ban units, I’d choose cryocopters.
I did once freeze the time bomb with cryo, i name it as the delay 1 sec death. I use to combo transport the final second melt 1sec time bomb with chronosphere to enemy base, it's tricky but fun to try. Just need good timing on freezing, and chrono swap the unfreeze bomb.
Me realizing how stinky it is for cryo legionnares in turrets to freeze air and spray uncivilized freeze bois everywhere but Cryocopter: not as strong as me mate
Just FIX THE DAMN CRYO !!! So many amazing competitive games went pretty boring because of this BS unit.. How can their special ability be 10/7.5 seconds????? Even at 60 seconds it'll still be good ,but will also give the opponent room to breathe, not just insta units-dismissal that is equal to the number of cryo copters you have ALSO THE 3 MIN END OF GAME STRAT IS JUST BS,100% NOT FAIR FOR ANYONE PLAYING THE GAME! Mostly if you're empire, 2800 credit 2 units just wrecking your whole base Pls ,someone, somewhere, fix cryos or even delete them, allies have enough broken power without them anyway
Haha yea Cryo needs major reworks. They already nerfed Cryo A LOT through the official patches but it just wasn't enough (The Cryo right now has less health, less freeze range, and half the freeze power it used to have!) I don't think anybody has the guts to rework Cryo too much, but this level of brokenness calls for radical measures! (Allied players would be very very mad tho)
@@xyhc-cnc I recall that from your video(still mindblown) but those nerfs were barely anything. The amount of nerfs soviets and empire.got.in comparison is laughable.... I find the biggest problem to be with their low CD on their special ability, quick access and obv their health.... ANY AA UNIT LIKE CHopper Bullfrog and seawing(multigunner ifv No!) Should be able to 1v1 them....
When I was a child, I really disliked using the Cryocopter because of the fact it couldn't kill units on its down, and the SHRINK beam didn't really seem appealing to me back then, because I played too much USA with their comanches As of today, holy hell this unit is busted. Freezing is always faster than damaging + frozen units instantly die to almost anything = easy kill. SHRINK beam being an absolutely beast of an ability just makes it so powerful. Oh yeah, them being extra durable is jus the nail in the coffin for the enemies of the Allies.
Actually the real acronym for the Cryocopter's S.H.R.I.N.K Beam is "S-trong H-omogenous R-esidual I-nteractive N-eutron K-inetic" Beam. That said, while the Allies are my favorite faction to play, they are, ironically, the faction I hate going up against. And if the Cryocopters trolling with your forces are not enough of a good reason to get salty I dunno what is.
Yeah, we know... But the point is to show off how OP the Cryocopter is, and the SHRINK Beam is one obvious reason... God, still have nightmares of Rising Sun mission 4... SHRINK beams everywhere...
Hey, I see that in each of your video, you usually relate things to the tournament. I wonder what is that? And what cosidered banned in the tournament?
Would it make sense to make the cryocopter require the Defence Bureau as well as Heightened Clearance? Not only this would make allies have to spend more time and money to unlock the cryocopter, they would also have to make more power too as the bureau takes 75 if I'm not mistaken. I think this makes sense since the copters are such "technological" units, and this would eliminate the rush factor, as factions would be better prepared by the time the copters are unlocked rather than be defeated in 2 minutes because they didn't have the hindsight to make air defence first thing
Don't ask. We already did that... IT'S FUCKING GLORIOUS, specially with the VX. Kill a frozen enemy? VX. Enemy aircraft harassing your Cryocopters? VX. Lots of High fives are shared when that happens. Even Tvtropes refers Allies as a support faction, say whatever you want but if you're a soviet or an empire and got a decent Allied team mate. That Allied team mate will ensure whatever plans you have will go through. They might not take the glory, but what do allies do if you're in a team with them? The make sure your slow Apocs will get in their destination on time. They make sure that your expansion/nanocores gets to that furthest expansion before the enemy does. They make sure the enemy is stuck in the place where you want them to be so you can safely spam V1s. Their Assault destroyers make sure your fragile ground units don't die easily. They ensure that not only you have intel from their spies, but free units as well They make sure that the enemy base is always low on power or disabled thanks to spies, cryos, aircraft carriers, and hydrofoils And if you're an empire player, they improve your superweapons. Nanoswarm + Proton collider = holy shit, that base will be absolutely gone along with any poor unit stuck in the blast radius
@@xyhc-cnc wow yeah u actually made a note on how to do that, tnx :) i completely forgot lol i already knew this technic but i found it too slow and sometimes i miss press on number keys, so still looking for an alternative ;)

Can cryocopter freeze hydrofoil, bullfrog or VX before it kills? I mean, what's the point of ground AA unit if it even can't kill air with 1vs1 fight? I'm pretty sure chopper VX or twinblade can't defeat any ground AA in 1vs1 combat.
I changed my job and I got 10 times. Pre busy. I work 6 days a week and I havent even make a changelist. 😂 I make Allied Air base require barracks and power plant to build Airbase tho. And Cryo required Max Clearance and Bureau, nerf shrink ray cooldown, nerf price, nerf freeze speed, neef freeze range. Ah feels good. .
Yeah, Shockwave mod fixed that by giving point defense lasers to laser general instead of air force and making the 6 missile payload an upgrade. They're still strong but beatable.
bomb split micro. Press "S" at the instance of bomb drop to stop vindie from dumping all bombs on one target. There's a 0.2 second reaction time for you but with practice, bomb split can be pulled off consistently.
It’s a micro skill players can use, don’t play personally but I think they move it close, order attack then cancel quickly to make it drop one bomb at a time to do what we see in the video or conserve bombs when it would be overkill.
@@Gab-im7bo don’t think so, part because of how it’s attack works, century is an inaccurate carpet bomb, vindicator locks on to targets with its bomb. Other part is the lack of mobility for it to be useful.
If they’re so hilariously broken alongside the Cryo Beam power, why aren’t they banned from tournaments? Not trying to be snooty, genuinely curious. They’re clearly absurd and ruin game balance by giving the Allies an obscene amount of power that’s even greater than the advantage already have.
They are far too integral to Allied strategies. They definitely serve an important role in the arsenal. They just need to be nerfed more. Banning 'em would turn the meta upside down entirely (like, Apocalypse would actually become viable)
@@xyhc-cnc I think it’d be worth trying out to see what would happen. Apocalypses being viable would be sick as hell. Also, how would these nerfs happen? As far as I know EA is no longer updating the game.
@@ThatOneMan830 only community support can save it. Or if there’s a very tiny chance that EA will consider remastering RA3 somehow, and they nerf cryocopter to the ground. Allied players will definitely be super unhappy to see the cryocopter go but that’s for the game. For me to start nerfing it, I would cut HP in half, put it behind max clearance and bureau. Then, freezing only double the amount of damage takes from all sources instead of Insta kill. As for shrink beam, the cast range will be 2, meaning cryocopter will always be exposed to aa fire when trying to shrink a unit.
@@estellebright2579 Yeah, I've been chewing on this recently for some reason. I still think banning or hard-nerfing them in a community patch would be incredibly interesting, entirely because it'd flip the table on how things currently are. A lot of units would be completely changed in viability, more strategies would open up, new rollouts could be tried, etc., etc. I have a genuine overall hatred of things in games that have no counter-play whatsoever, and the Cryocopter and Cryo Beam are pretty blatant examples of this in effect.
Cryocopter swarm is prety effective strategy against the Empire, but when you oponent pulls out 10 Flak troopers and 4 bulldogs you just lost a lot of resources ...
If you couldn't just micro down those AA that is. Easy shrink on the bullfrogs and it literally takes 2 Vindicators to kill most of those flaks in one bombing run.
Lemme fight you on stream today, with Cryocopters Also you do watch Sybert right? Can we both agree Dimon's the finest player out there who definitely knows his micro? ruclips.net/video/bvnUiZhJbW0/видео.html
I saw the match that XYHC linked in reply before. It is pretty disappointing and cyro-sided. There is no hard counter, especially Empire only option is Defender or Tengu in Tier 1. Even if you manage to upgrade to Tier 2, shrink beam MCV pressure is there, heck even easy Navy Yard Destroyer. If you try to put resources into harassing enemy refs, you don't have resources to counter MCV turret push. Also, VX cannot kill Cyro fast enough and often being wrecked by Cyro instead. (Which is why Archer Maiden is given in Rising Sun, however just even more OP endgame units there)
If the freeze was a damage boost instead of instakill and their ability cooldown was 15 seconds... I'd see more interesting casts from Sybert. If only.
I completely agree, I hate that snap freezing is a mechanic, the slowdown and damage buff is enough alone. If snap freeze was a guarantee I'd at least dramatically increase the time to get it and remove veterancy gain from it

If someone would destroy my whole base with two aerial units 3000 for both and one special power, I would just remove that game honestly lol
if you ignore allies opness the game is very fun, even if you are playing 1v1 skirmishes
7:04 I never thought about that. I normally just send it to the other player using Chronosphere and make No u memes. (Chro-no u)
Great vid bro
5 cytocopter and 1 harbinger gunship = instant base destruction
Players: Cryocopters are too OP! We need balancing!
EA snorting a line of radioactive coke when making Uprising: Nah, Cryo Legionnaire IFVs
What a shame it cant target air units too.
I want to test Cryo Legionnaires now lol. Wonder how good they are in IFV’s
XYHC spoil alert: they are insanely good vs everything too, maybe except the almighty harbinger gunship. Allies in Uprising is even more OP. Literally unbeatable.
So let an already OP unit to also COUNTER air army..... sounds like a good idea.....

Yeah this is why I use a flak hammer when I'm playing as the soviets. Some AA is better than nothing and bullfrogs tends to outrun my hammer tanks
i use them often, usally about 40 a game.
when ever i see a cryobastard flying in my base i immediately send my tangus after it, yes that's how angry i am
Also , i get it about frozen biological stuffs like flesh make break easily , but a frozen armored target like a tank ? How that can be 1 shot irl ?
Probably same goes to Frozen Biological stuff. The plane slips and shatters.
Sudden application of heat and/or force to an object frozen may have affected the mkolecular bonds?
Good points :) (Kirovs actually have 6000 HP tho)
XYHC ahh my memory failed me :(
XD
harbinger gunship is cancer
I did once freeze the time bomb with cryo, i name it as the delay 1 sec death. I use to combo transport the final second melt 1sec time bomb with chronosphere to enemy base, it's tricky but fun to try. Just need good timing on freezing, and chrono swap the unfreeze bomb.
Me realizing how stinky it is for cryo legionnares in turrets to freeze air and spray uncivilized freeze bois everywhere but
Cryocopter: not as strong as me mate
Just FIX THE DAMN CRYO !!! So many amazing competitive games went pretty boring because of this BS unit..
How can their special ability be 10/7.5 seconds????? Even at 60 seconds it'll still be good ,but will also give the opponent room to breathe, not just insta units-dismissal that is equal to the number of cryo copters you have
ALSO THE 3 MIN END OF GAME STRAT IS JUST BS,100% NOT FAIR FOR ANYONE PLAYING THE GAME! Mostly if you're empire, 2800 credit 2 units just wrecking your whole base
Pls ,someone, somewhere, fix cryos or even delete them, allies have enough broken power without them anyway
When I was a child, I really disliked using the Cryocopter because of the fact it couldn't kill units on its down, and the SHRINK beam didn't really seem appealing to me back then, because I played too much USA with their comanches
As of today, holy hell this unit is busted. Freezing is always faster than damaging + frozen units instantly die to almost anything = easy kill.
SHRINK beam being an absolutely beast of an ability just makes it so powerful. Oh yeah, them being extra durable is jus the nail in the coffin for the enemies of the Allies.
Liked for the Karen Beam.
Last time:sputnik is bad
Now:sputnik too OP nerf it pls
Finally !
Hey, I see that in each of your video, you usually relate things to the tournament. I wonder what is that? And what cosidered banned in the tournament?
Watching lets players do runs of the campaign and ignoring them cause they dont have weapons almost HURTS.
the only downside to cryocoptors is the amount of micro you need to do to use them. Probably puts off the casuals.
*Rising Sun Mission 4 PTSD intensifies*
Holy fuck, they're fucking everywhere- GODDAMMIT, STOP SHRINKING MY CRUISERS AND BATTLESHIPS ALREADY! 😠
5:15 When EA fail to fix it so the Tournament have to come around it.
Cryocopters are effectively the "One Man Army + Noobtube" of C&C
3:33 ''size does matter'' Cryocopter 2020
Just stay cool guys. You gotta chill out. Don't show the allies your cold shoulder.
The unit which made allies a strongest faction of the game.
How about CCopter + TBlade or VX?
OUCH.
They ensure that not only you have intel from their spies, but free units as well
They make sure that the enemy base is always low on power or disabled thanks to spies, cryos, aircraft carriers, and hydrofoils
And if you're an empire player, they improve your superweapons. Nanoswarm + Proton collider = holy shit, that base will be absolutely gone along with any poor unit stuck in the blast radius
It is treason then
The Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities, some considered, chilly.

oh wait im deleting this unit and change it to other attack helicopter instead

Can cryocopter freeze hydrofoil, bullfrog or VX before it kills? I mean, what's the point of ground AA unit if it even can't kill air with 1vs1 fight? I'm pretty sure chopper VX or twinblade can't defeat any ground AA in 1vs1 combat.

How did tht vindicator only drop one bomb at the time?
bomb split micro.
Just a bit practice so you can split bomb perfectly. Now you can bomb 3 infantries in 1 bombing run without wasting any bomb
@@quox3987 can century bomber do that to?
@@Gab-im7bo don’t think so, part because of how it’s attack works, century is an inaccurate carpet bomb, vindicator locks on to targets with its bomb. Other part is the lack of mobility for it to be useful.

Honestly tho this shit needs a nerf
If they’re so hilariously broken alongside the Cryo Beam power, why aren’t they banned from tournaments? Not trying to be snooty, genuinely curious. They’re clearly absurd and ruin game balance by giving the Allies an obscene amount of power that’s even greater than the advantage already have.
They are far too integral to Allied strategies. They definitely serve an important role in the arsenal. They just need to be nerfed more. Banning 'em would turn the meta upside down entirely (like, Apocalypse would actually become viable)
@@xyhc-cnc
I think it’d be worth trying out to see what would happen.
@@estellebright2579
Yeah, I've been chewing on this recently for some reason. I still think banning or hard-nerfing them in a community patch would be incredibly interesting, entirely because it'd flip the table on how things currently are. A lot of units would be completely changed in viability, more strategies would open up, new rollouts could be tried, etc., etc. I have a genuine overall hatred of things in games that have no counter-play whatsoever, and the Cryocopter and Cryo Beam are pretty blatant examples of this in effect.
in the future cryo will be gone
The good thing if RA4 abandons the RA3 timeline - there wouldn’t be Cryocopters!

Cryocopter, this unit is just for noob players 🤗
Cryo is not op. You are being subjective here XYHC. All you need is some decent micro, a few anti air units and a non "allies are op bullshit" mindset
