Drain oil while cold sat overnight. Measure what came out and simply replace with same amount. Only use mopar fluid I paid 18 dollars a quart from my local dealer. I used 5 quart bucket from Home Depot for measuring purposes. No problems jeep runs great.
Some fluid remains in the torque converter so when you change the oil there is still some left over old fluid in the tranny. Perhaps another change after 30 k miles should help remove the old original fluid. . i like the performance of the Max Life. I don't use the dipstick. I just go by the volume drained. If the temp is the same as the temp of what you have in the jug you can use the same volume no problem.
@@elcotu4099I find the issue, first of all neglect the chart, what ever drained out from the transmission add the same amount (in room temp. and coool eng.)
@@michaelbarbosa911 if your the first person to change the fluid from the original factory fill than you should be fine. Now i had a local shop change my fluid two years ago and they under filled. As the miles add up too and leaks start to happen less will probably come out and more will need to go in.
I have a 2015 renegade trailhawk. I change the oil myself. Most of the stuff I changed. I am very nervous about the transmission oil though. I have never changed that oil before on any car. I always traded in before it would need that service. But I’m gonna have to keep the renegade for a long time. I would rather let the dealer change it but they refuse to. I haven’t called independent mechanics about it yet. I thought you are supposed to use the mopar oil? I know it’s expensive but I rather be safe than sorry. I should note use a mopar oil filter when changing the engine oil. Other cheaper brands mess it up. I had an $800 repair done to the oil filter area where it screws in. The oil filter got stuck and we had a hard time getting it off. I followed a RUclips video how to get out a stick filter and it ended up damaging the thing that holds the filter and I got oil and coolant mixed together in the engine. Yes there is coolant down there where the oil filter is. I didn’t know that. But now I buy mopar oil filters only.
@@Catman1798 i was nervous to do this project too, first time i just went slow, second time i made the video, definitely harder than my Cruze. I had a independent shop do it once and looks like they under filled it by a qt, thats why i like doing it myself. There is much talk about transmission fluid online, i went with what i always use and it says its compatible with this transmission, you only really need three qts and how often you do this job, if it makes you feel better go with the OEM name. For the engine oil filter i am going to try WIX, hear good things about them, good price on Rockauto.com, but with any oil filter less tight is better.
Awesome in depth video, I was interested in getting a renegade and just wanted to make sure they were easy to service, appreciate the videos man. Do these have a transmission fluid filter as well?
@@moosemechanic4591 yes but only can change if you remove the transmission from vehicle and split it in half. Thats how a lot of vehicles are today other than trucks.
You should really spend some time to clean up the engine bay. I have one and its 8 year old but if you look at it it still looks brand new. Also spray any areas under the car that is starting to rust or prone to rust. It's usually suspension components that is painted black. That paint is not rust preventing. Save your vehicle. That is a very nice and enjoyable car.

I thought I had to use that Mopar 25 $30 a quart. Thank you for the information.👍😎

Keep in mind, like he said, you usually get about ⅓ of the fluid out, so you actually need to do this four times to get completely clean fluid.
Thanks for posting this video. I was able to do a change at 56k miles.
Another great video
I drained a 2021 compass and had 6.2 quarts come out. Is this unusual. Trans was warm and has never been changed before. Mileage was 30k.
I done the same process using Amsoil ATF but after 2 days i faced rising in TRANS. TEMP and some hard shifting
I have the same problem could you fix it ? How ?
I just buy some amsoil ATF signature I have a Rene 2015 trailhawk. How is it running now? I'm nervous about doing it.

If we know (measured) how much fluid came out, could we just skip the dip stick measuring and refill what we took out?
