      +Charles Damery  Since the former Canadian Harper Conservative federal government did away with the Canadian Grain Board, which sold the grain for the farmers, the grain farmers are free to sell their grain wherever they want. Those cars were probably headed for the Ethanol plant outside of Plant City, driving up the food and feed costs and your grocery bills.

    For everybody that is saying the signal was red: that was probably the bottom head of two, the top one was probably green once the CSX passed.

      Editing. Top mast wouldn’t have given clear that quickly anyhow. That was pretty seamless. An NTSB/FRA person would crap themselves if this wasn’t edited.

    If you look at 6:16, you can see the gates up, then look when the Amtrack comes, they instantly go down. But really good editing

    That's total editing I saw cause Amtrak 158 would have actually hit CSX 7705 if it wouldn't have slowed down on time, and the gates went rapidly down, good job on that one, you nearly had me

      Sy Woit yep. you can see the gate in the background go from "up" to "down" in a very suspicious, unrealistic manner. Other than that the editing is pretty spot on.

    Amtrak ran the red signal. By all means, if the signal is red, you must stop.

      Its a dual signal. There is another above it that was green. If you look at a block signal at a switch there is a top signal for going straight and a lower signal for going into or onto the siding.

      A single head ABS signal at red is restricted. Go no faster than 15 MPH, being prepared to stop within half the range of vision.

      sure they could. I was a conductor and you'd be amazed what one unit could pull. that was a junk train and not very heavy.that train might have been 6000 tons. a lightweight. (junk meaning lumber, box cars, grain, spline cars etc) all different commodities. heavy trains are like all slurry or oil tankers or coal, usually

    The Amtrak engineer drove past a red light (@6:20) Amazing that it was made public. Of course, he was obviously creeping along and could have outstopped the CSX if needed, so no danger.

      Nah it didnt, its just the top signal is cut off. The Top is green and while the bottom is red thats how its supposed to look. If it did, then the train would stop automatically stop because of PTC installed on the train

      Actually, if you look closely, the video was edited. After the CSX passes the diamond, the railroad crossing gate in the background quickly teleports into position.

    Just look at the dangerous state of that Diamond crossing. Not surprising they have more derailments in one month in the USA than the whole of EUROPE in a YEAR. And Europe runs over 1500% more trains daily than the USA !!!!

    There was a big train crash at this location in 1995 where a csx and amtrack crashed to the amtrack ran a red signal and it hit the csx and it exploded I live near that location to.
