I’ve been hating Canson’s mixed media paper for acrylics, the blending the drying, everything. I will give this method a try, I really want to use mixed media paper
I started painting recently and I'm about 10 or so paintings into this. All I've painted with is a mixed media sketchbook and acrylics from Walmart and I have trouble with blending and whatnot. I'm sure this is mostly because I'm still terrible at this, but could a different medium help me out?
Im not a huge fan of the Walmart paints. I really recommend Masterstouch acrylics from Hobby Lobby in store or online. This paint is actually not that expensive, especially when they have frequent 50% off sales! I think you'll have a better time blending and layering with this paint. I'm here to help too!!
Why don't more people use mixed media paper with acrylic paint? It's so smooth. I'm new to painting but I'm loving acrylic on mixed media paper. What are some of the drawbacks or negatives? Thanks (P.S.....you mentioned water....umm, I don't mix water with the paint. The only water is when I clean the brush between colors.)
I do love mixed media paper too! I think the drawback is that it's a more delicate surface, sensitive to too much water. I do use water to wash out my brush and to apply paint, but much less than canvas. I also think warping can be frustrating for newbies, unless they know how to properly tape down the paper.
I just attempted to draw the gold retriever tutorial a couple videos back and I'm really sad you didn't continue the video showing how to fill out the nose and mouth and tiny hair strokes :(
So I'm actually working on another Golden Retriever tutorial. You'll have to wait and see. I'll have a lot more instruction in this one. Sorry for your experience not being so good with that old one! I hope this one makes up for it!
@@laurenelizabethanimalart3215 thank you for answering my question. I guess I just thought I had to do that. Not experienced enough myself and haven't really experimented enough on my own. 😀
Did you do the Elephant on You Tube? Will you reply with its link? Also, have you or will you do a Manatee? Looking forward to your painting the drawing of the giraffe.
I don't have a Manatee yet, but I'll link the elephant tutorial here that I have on my RUclips channel. In my Masterclass I have 3-elephant tutorials. ruclips.net/video/L2HVKGj0Ttc/видео.html
You know, that's a great question! I would think you would have to be MORE careful drying paint like that with paper. I would think it would affect the paper a bit more than canvas. However, if you were to keep the heat away from the paper directly, OR turn it to cool dry, I would think that be fine. Great question I will have to put to the test.
CAN YOU PLZ DO A HORSE PAINTING LIKE HOW YOU DID YOUR COLORFUL COW, I DID YOU COW AND MY MOM POSTED IT AND EVERYONE LIKED IT AND ONE LADY WANTED ME TO DO A HORSE SO CAN YOU PLZ DO A HORSE????
Thank you for sharing this! I ran out of sheet of papers and I wanted to try new methods with my sketches and drawings. Keep up the amazing work!
Oh thank you. Best of luck Juan!

Strathmore is a great brand I still use to this day. Best of luck. I love painting on this heavy MM paper.
Thank you! I've been struggling with this in my 2D Design class.
This one was just a hooot 🦉!
hahah thank you!
So pretty! Super talented! What Acrylic Paint would u recommend for a beginner?
You know I'm always going to recommend Masters Touch paint. It's actually very affordable. I use it now. I get it from Hobby Lobby or Amazon!

Hi, do you prepare your multi media paper with gesso first?
I do not. I tape it down first, but never use gesso on the mixed media paper.

Can’t you teach how to draw a Samoyed dog? If you can it would be great.
Do you need to gesso the mixed media paper? Or no?
Great question, I don't. I have heard other artists do though. I think that's best for like oil paint, but not acrylics. Tape it down though for sure.
can you paint german sherherd please.have orange fur german sherherd please
When will you post another video? 😭
Hahah. In less than a week. Just editing it and working on a new Masterclass tier!
@@laurenelizabethanimalart3215 quick question, what's the next tutorial on your RUclips channel going to be? ❤️
Why don't you post any paintings these days? It's been two weeks! Really missing your paintings
Hey I have a painting request, could you make a full-time pig tutorial
With no traceable printout and you actually teach the guidelines and stuff?
I actually do have one, it's a much older tutorial I made, but here it is: ruclips.net/video/E458mPRsxMU/видео.html
@@laurenelizabethanimalart3215 oh, I've already done that tutorial,
That's why I asked for another one
Haha I see. Gotcha!
Would you recommend not using a hair drier to dry paints on mixed media paper. I use one a lot when painting on board or canvas.

@@laurenelizabethanimalart3215 I did try it myself. Dries fast on paper anyway. So, no problem. As long as it isn't too wet I would think.

I'll add it to my list of requests. I'm so glad your mom and others liked your cow! That's awesome.
Painting flat is not possible if you have back pain. As I do.
You can tape this to a board and then use it on an elevated table or drafting table like I do.
Hi Elizabeth how ru? I missed u.
Who said this vid is dumb 😠😠
