I recently drove a BMW 3 series convertible, and while it did take a few minutes, I was able to understand the iDrive system without anyone telling me anything.
you got a family, you're a rich man. but you want something as fast as a porsche 911 but want to do chores too? that rich man buys this. If you hating on this car, you dont understand the auto industry.
Roman, if you think the iDrive system is complicated, check out the MB command system and Audi's MMI, they are old-fashioned and even more complicated....
Here is a thought. How about you guys put a perfomance driving school class or two on the company credit card. Film it for the channel and it is a win win for everyone. You get training to improve your skills and we get to see your progress.
I'm pretty sure BMW engineers are capable of making launch control more easier to use but it's kind of fun the way it is, it feels like an expert level of difficulty.
carlos ortiz if you have a moment i'd love to get some feedback for the reviews on my channel, just did a 2015 Challenger Scat pack, if you're interested let me know what you think, thanks!
Just drove a 16 gle 450 amg. Left a lot to be desired, but I fit better. There’s a 2015 x6 m coming in a week and once I drive that I’ll decide. I do like the poppity pop the Benz makes in sport+
***** Because it doesn't meet the aesthetic needs of a sedan buyer (sleek and beautiful) nor does it fulfill the wagon needs of an SUV buyer. It's the same reason that the Honda Crosstour doesn't sell well and that the Acura ZDX failed to sell. It's like an answer to a question that nobody asked.
Bruce Solomon I'm 99.9% certain the point of crossovers is 1) higher ride (people like the visibility and feel safer), 2) slightly more storage than a sedan, 3) better gas mileage than an SUV, and 4) cheaper than a full size SUV. The X6 gets higher ride/safety, storage, but bombs at the mileage and cost. The X3 is the cheaper, more roomy, and gets better mileage. The other big issue with BMW is this obsession with GT shit. The 5 series GTs are horrible in my opinion, and the new 3 series will bomb I'm sure. Oh yes, I forgot about the X1. The X1 is pretty cheap, gets decent mileage... but I'd almost consider it more of a hatch or wagon than a crossover. The Crosstour... is a useless piece of shit. The HR-V, however, I believe got the crossover formula correct and will sell just as well as it's big brother the CR-V.
this iDrive was the best and easiest system to live with. I think it still is. Controller is easy to use, ui is simple, no lags, nice graphics. It still is a great system compared to todays ipad like 50000" touch screens with 12832 functions...
Matt b if you have a moment i'd love to get some feedback for the reviews on my channel, just did a 2015 Challenger Scat pack, if you're interested let me know what you think, thanks!
omg the grandpa-style driving around this track drives me crazy. Get on the gas already. Turned the damned steering wheel already. This is like watching a DMV test.
Is this a parody video? the worst review I've ever seen. He's almost a second slower than this car is suppose to go 0-60. And the idrive is the shit!!!
I don't normally say this kind of thing, but 14 buttons too many? You're out of your fucking mind. The BMW is second only to the current E class in ease of use for their infotainment. Originally I thought the BMW bested Mercedes, but after spending considerable time with both the E class comes out on top. The E class' system has more buttons than the S class or new C class, and that makes it faster. I get in 5-15 different BMWs and Mercs daily, and to adjust 1) the radio, 2) the bass/treble, 3) the mirrors, and 4) the seat position takes the least amount of time in a Mercedes (by a significant margin). Audi, while not nearly as useful, is still admirable for having lots of physical controls. The shit systems in say an EX-L Honda, or an Acura, or a Lincoln, or a Ford, or a Cadillac... anything with those shit disgusting touch screens... it's just absolutely horrible. You have to take a lot of time putting your finger in exactly the right place, if you try to adjust that shit on the road you're going to push the wrong button and change the radio station rather than upping the volume, and the fact the volume is a touch button it takes repeated mashing clicks to get it to bump up just a few levels. I'm hoping more makers follow the lead of BMW and Mercedes with REAL buttons, dedicated buttons.
Jesse Crandle Honda, Acura and Porsche have had the most dedicated buttons. But in our opinion all of the systems are terrible. Just like the old flip phones before the iPhone revolutionized smart phones. The only system that works in an easy and intuitive manner is the Tesla system and that pretty much an iPad. Perhaps when Apple and Google get in the game we'll actually see a system that is easy to use and not distracting, frustrating, convoluted or just plain confusing.
The Fast Lane Car I just prefer dedicated buttons. The tactile feel is something I appreciate, something about using iPad like devices while going down the road to change from XM radio to FM just doesn't sit well with me. No, I'm not "old fashioned" either, I'm 26, so I'm not just a pissed off 60 year old who doesn't like the changing times. The issue for me is that I don't want to break my eyes from driving, and when the screen is just a huge flat glass surface I'll need to, or else I could change to AM instead of increasing the volume or pressing the seek button. Either way... we all know that the iDrive now is 10 times better than the predecessor (like in the old 7 series), and I genuinely hate the 00s 3 series radio lol.
Jesse Crandle We like dedicated buttons as well. That's why the Cadillac Cue system is such a train wreck. It doesn't have dedicated buttons. But BMW's system only has a handful of dedicated buttons that are all basically the same and just activate certain menus in the iDrive. You still have to look at the screen and read complicated menus to make changes. It's not the way human naturally interact with their world. That's why smart phone work...because we use out fingers instead on knobs dials or pointers.
This car is for people who don't just want to enjoy technology, they also want to know how they got to this level and fiddle around with it...this has always been the case with BMW and that's why it has the most fanatic following. So Apple engineers...STAY THE FUCK AWAY from this car, it's for Android users.
Anthony N I use both daily, initially I liked the iDrive more, but having used both for over a year the E Class is much faster for me to navigate. The iDrive "looks prettier", but I can use the Mercedes more easily without breaking my attention from the road. The S Class and new C Class, however... is a step in the wrong direction. More difficult to use than the E Class.
This car is good but rear windscreen is pure garbage. You cannot even see anything with that small window. I rather go drive a ford pickup truck or a GMC
So is this a true M? I've read that there are various M variants. Like the M-sport, then M235i and finally an M2. So is this a true M or is the X6 M a level below an M X6? Ok BMW can you just stop with all this craziness... :-)
110k grand for a junky, cheap looking interior, with gauges and dash design from a 1991 lexus. Complete lack of detail, flat black and boring yet somehow overly complicated with no attention to details. Sounds like shit too. And people are bitching about a JGC trackhawk not looking like a 90k interior. The Jeep has Nappa leather covering every interior surface including lower door panels and dash, and then, you look at this hunk of shit. What a waste of money.
He makes the launch control sound so much more difficult than it truly is...
I recently drove a BMW 3 series convertible, and while it did take a few minutes, I was able to understand the iDrive system without anyone telling me anything.
This is a sick ride I own one and am more than happy with its performance
How reliable is it after a few years?
What about reliability and maintenance
you got a family, you're a rich man. but you want something as fast as a porsche 911 but want to do chores too? that rich man buys this. If you hating on this car, you dont understand the auto industry.
Or a cayenne turbo
RAJohnson713 yeah sure you could get that too, same class. The choice is yours.
man0z you neither have money nor taste, so go ride in your 1993 toyota.
...or the Range Rover Sport ....
MrPeterthepilot yes but I actually want to be able to drive more than 100km without the car breaking down, so either bmw, porsche or the new merc.
Roman, if you think the iDrive system is complicated, check out the MB command system and Audi's MMI, they are old-fashioned and even more complicated....
Audi MMI is very easy to use.
@@DMCarReviews It's come a long way from 4 years
Here is a thought. How about you guys put a perfomance driving school class or two on the company credit card. Film it for the channel and it is a win win for everyone. You get training to improve your skills and we get to see your progress.
Or just get a professional to come in as a guest like how Motor Trend does it.
I'm pretty sure BMW engineers are capable of making launch control more easier to use but it's kind of fun the way it is, it feels like an expert level of difficulty.
And to think this Beast only beat the old E46 M3 Nuremberg Lap time by 2 seconds. Just shows how good the old M3 was.
First love your vids. Breen watching since last year 😀
I've "BREEN" watching for 2 years myself..

kma198199 I'm sorry I was rushing to be first comment
I love the x6
slight tire squeal is not drifting....Watch Randy Probst whip the track in this car. 0-60 is 3.7 --- pure heaven.

It's not you or your pay grade Roman. The thing has a center of gravity of a Kenworth!
Bruce Solomon I have never understood why anyone ever buys these!

Jesse Crandle Right!
It's actually very simple to engage the power launch. Put it in sports plus (one button) and power brake it. Why is this so difficult for you?
This car is equal parts pointless and awesome.
andyhoov Lol.. that's the perfect way to describe.
Beautiful car. 100k.. Sheesh. Lottery here I come

4.41? That's incredible @1mile above sea level! It's like 3.6sec at sea level or what? Or is it because of the turbo's?
3.7 according to car and driver
@@Kaisuke971 but you know that’s total bs even 3.8 and 3.9 it’s really like 4.0-4.1
I love this car purely because it doesn't make ANY SENSE at all! LOL
I'm sick and tired of the term "crossover." It doesn't mean anything. Why do auto journalists insist on using it?
M stands for money pit
scterka nice profile pic lol check out my channel it's definitely your style :)
X6s are actually fairly reliable
scterka I 2nd that! I own one. :-(
omg the grandpa-style driving around this track drives me crazy. Get on the gas already. Turned the damned steering wheel already. This is like watching a DMV test.
All you need is a repair shop !! And then you may enjoy your BMW.
My mate's X5 spent so much time in the shop he called it his BMTroubleu
That's funny bmtrobuleu . That's sad about the d5 😕
MSRP $110,000. 5 years later you can get one for $40,000. 5 more years and it will be $15,000.
Most Cars depreciate this fastly.
Including Bentley's
They must depreciate a lot, because my coworker just picked up a used one (same as this one) for $60K.
what's difficult about that launch control exactly? is pressing two buttons hard?
Damn fast as truck
Trying to use BMW's advanced features on their cars is like trying to cast Pagan spells during the wrong moon phase
That's a great 0 to 60 test with a large man and a passenger smh
If you pull up next to me, it will be you who! That ends up getting spanked. Good Day Sir!
tipical american review... want eaasy go to macdonalds..... bmw best and love it i own this soon and its perfect car
Awesome!
BMW los Mejores Autos del Mundo!!
I don't know why this car sounds better than the m5. It should be the other way round.
Brake fade on that little track? Doubt it.
Android auto and apple car play
I have seen Bolth previews, Bolth very nice but I liked the simplicity of Android auto more
Idrive is super difficult

No offense Roman, I know you are beyond your skill set and that's okay. But really you missed every apex. Every one!
TFL. You need a hot shoe.

Ok BMW can you just stop with all this craziness... :-)
Considering it has almost 600 HP about 26 M badges and a sticker north of 100K this car is all true M through and through
The fake noise through the speakers sound just sooo bad.. It sounds like a mid 90s computer car game. Tasteless.
This guy took it around the track like my mom would. Painful to watch...

575hp only 4.4 to 60? Weaksauce
Your joking right?
NOFATCHICK1 no. A jeep srt8 420hp can run 4.4 to 60 . that's more impessive to me
Not @ a mile above sea level we would kindly remind.
What's the song that starts at 3:53?
Daryl Jackson - Whats the song that starts at 3:53
Darude sandstorm
Why your always getting sucks time from 0-60!
I cant believe people think this car look better and sounds better than the AMG gle63s wtf ...
Bmw seems like dogshit
from 3:52
i like the x6 but for the $ buy a Tesla
That is a fast car, but for the money that I would spend on that car I would buy a Tesla or something with a 0-60 faster than a 4.4 seconds.
I hate the X6 M with a passion, and the new mercedes copy, why do people buy these overpriced useless vehicles???
***** More money than brain cells
Klaus
I have seen two of them IRL, they were both driven by old women presumably widows.
Too much of everything...and ugly! Like your love of it though!
shopwithaaron I think they look good. I'd never buy one, though. lol.
