  • The first time that my wife & I camp on Blackcat Lake. From there we move to Cat Lake where we spend another 2 nights. The best campsite on Cat Lake has a surprise for us. Snakes! I almost step on one while avoiding another two.
    The best landing is taken over by these snakes, we give them space & avoid swimming this time. Wilderness camping has surprises sometimes!
    Haliburton Highlands Water Trails is the perfect place to explore, novice and experienced paddlers too. H2O Slingshot 222 served us well on this trip, lightweight and fast on the water too.
    Part 1 of this trip here: • Awesome Canoe Trip. SK...
    Thanks for watching!

      It was beautiful. It is a group of lakes, you need to portage from one to the other.

    Those wasp will get ya! Probably a yellow jacket. They are a particularly ill tempered insect. I came into this premier 5 minutes late almost but will watch from the beginning later tonight or tomorrow. Those snakes were unknown to me but I don't think they were venomous. Beautiful countryside up north! Besides the rocks, wasp, mosquitos, snakes, and bears it's a great place to explore by canoe. 😊 I'll be back to watch the beginning shortly. Nice adventure.

      It was a yellow jacket. It took me by surprise, thinking it is a horse fly that bites a lot worse than usual. I crushed it with my fingers and throw it to the ground. That is when I saw it is a wasp.
      The snakes are not venomous. Did not see any bear just some signs that they come around.

      @@TheOutdoorSeeker When I was a kid in Oregon I had a swarm of those yellow jackets attack me. Got stung multiple times and was pulling handfuls of them out of my hair as I ran. Not a pleasant childhood memory! Regarding bears, there's a saying in India: "The tiger you see will never eat you." I think the same thing applies to bruins.

      @@CanoeingTheEdgeOfTheWorld The bear in Ontario are black bear. I did not have any bear chasing me, so far they left as soon as they saw me.

    Spectacular route! I'd like to join you this year! Did you catch the SUP guy?

    • @TheOutdoorSeeker
      @TheOutdoorSeeker  3 года назад

      I have big plans for this year, you are welcome to come with us!
      The SUP was at a race in Bancroft. And we could not catch the lady, too fast for 12 km. We did come ahead next day on a 23km race.
