The names of the bosses from SF2 got switched around when it came to the West, probably because of concerns of legal issues with naming their black boxer M. Bison. So M.Bison -> Balrog, Balrog -> Vega, Vega -> M. Bison.
Though recently it's revealed that both names are in fact Canon, so Bison can either be Vega or Bison, Vega can be Balrog or Vega, Balrog is the only one that's not fully confirmed cause Balrog mentions that people call him balrog but not Bison.
