Thanks! That's our goal with these Drawing Basics course perspective lessons. Enough simple information to help people learn some perspective without digging in too deep.
After Proko, the mysteries of Perspective will be mysteries no more! Seriously quality. Perspective is deceptively simple, so keeping the tutorials on it clear is a must.
I have a important question. At 1:42, you mentioned for simplicity's sake, you'll have 2 obvious vanishing points, does that mean that usually good artists would draw with a vanishing point off the page? Thanks for reading!
It's not necessarily "good" or "bad". But generally, it's considered more visually pleasing or realistic to have a point that's further out of the composition.
Best perspective lesson ever! Thank you so much for sharing this. Can't wait to dive in and practice this technique. I struggle so much with perspective and I feel this technique will solve the issues I've been having. Thank you again! ❤
Mr. Proko you are the best with your SOLDGER we are the problem that I don't practice just kittin I'm practicing I feel praud of my inprooving of you too the best team Gracias
9:20 a small question here, the line for the back corner of the head should appear a little shorter than for the front corner due to the perspective, right?
There is something that I noticed while watching this: When you had the center point of the torso and wanted to estimate the center of the X to determine the width of the first arm, the center of the X should be determined using the conversion point. That's because the line connecting the two center points would sit in 3D space parallel to the shoulders and would therefore go towards the (right) conversion point too. In the demonstrated case, it's not that grave because it's close enough to the horizon but I can imagine that the resulting box would probably come out wonky if it was further away from the horizon. (The resulting vertical line would probably not be vertical anymore.)
Are you going to do something like rotating objects in perspective as well? I have watched some videos about perspective by other people but I didn't quite get the part where they rotate an object with respect to its surrounding
Fun fact: Steve's body type is actually practically composed of 4x4 pixel cubes, each limb is a stack of 3 cubes, the torso is two stacks next to eachother, and the head is a 2x2x2 of said cubes centered on top of the torso For the thin arm style bodies you just shave off one pixel on the side of each arm
Both are good for different things! If you want line weight variation, a mechanical pencil won't do much of that. But if you're still learning, just use whatever pencil is handy for a while!
You don't really need 2 lines after the first X. You just need to run 1 line from 1 corner through the center of the opposing line. btw why not call them the Pro-Community? Get it ;)

Absolutely! Each Drawing Basics perspective lesson builds on the last so we're still only part way through going over all of it. Soon!
