I just want to say thank you so much for these videos!I think I can convert my old favorite Trek 820 and give it a new life! The HD does not over heat unless you put a power supply to it that is not recommended. No need for a temp gauge.
Great video. Only thing you didn't mention, is that sometimes, it can be a bit fussy synching with Android phones. Also, every time you use a different device, they have to send you an activation code, which is a bit of a pain. Other than that, I totally agree. I started reprogramming my BBS02, than later my BBSHD with the comms cable, which is really tedious to use. Being able to tweak things on the fly (as long as your phone synchs) is amazing. Also, for anybody watching who hasn't tweaked their Bafang, you're really missing out on the potential of your kit, as the standard program defaults are awful! I ran with mine for a couple of years (thinking they were great) until I bought the comms cable. The difference can be night and day. YOU DO NEED TO READ UP ON WHAT THE SETTINGS DO FIRST, AS YOU CAN FRY YOUR CONTROLLER.
Hi John.. i currently use *but cannot see P860c display outside in the sun. (too much reflection/not bright enough) will the Eggrider show up bright in the sun..? I need a display with Speed/Watts/Voltage/assist level.... is this the one for me.? Thanks Rob PDX USA
Just replaced controller on my bbshd with EggRider display. Did a test to make sure motor ran before doing up the cables. Tested fine. Powered down and removed battery and did all the cabling. Powered up for a 2nd time and hit throttle… no motor turning. That’s when I noticed the FF code. Tried doing reset per the users manual, no luck. Clipped all tie wraps and checked all connections, same problem. Kind of at a loss as to what changed between initial testing and final testing. I’m guessing either firmware or a failed controller.. any advice greatly appreciated.
Hi Johnny I've just ordered the eggridder V2 could I program both my mid-drive bikes but only use the eggridder on one bike and will my settings keep in the other bike 😊🙏
Hi Johnny thank you for the great explanation of the eggrider. I was wondering whether it was possible to delete or reset the stats such as average speed etc that come up when you hold down the home button for a couple of seconds?
Awesome vid! Another reason for the BSHDD over the Max ultra. Did you have any problems sofar with Cops stopping you and asking about your BBSHD? And how is your Motor keeping up so far? Any issues?
No hassles from cops. Although I always am mindful not to look too suspicious. I always try to pedal when people are around, even if I'm doing 30. This bbshd has about 1700 miles on it, no issues so far. I've put about 3,000 miles on them so far without issues. The ultra has torque sensing though and can probably handle more power. But it's not nearly as convenient to mount.
@@ismailweber1899 technically yes I guess. But if the cops stopped you for riding suspiciously, (say, too fast) I'm betting they will find a way to bust you.
True :( Im kinda in between of my decision, buying an ebike. What would you choose? A 60pound fully with bafang max ultra 1000, 21mah 1000wh battery. Or a 40pound hardtail with bosch 350watt cx motor and a 500wh battery? Not sure if the huge weight will have any cons..
Why buy a 1000W motor if there is even a Possibility that it won't be legal anywhere in America? The BBS02 can be used and have a Class-3 ebike that is legally allowed anywhere a bicycle can be ridden.
So this is just a plug-and-play replacement for an existing BBSHD display (using same connector)? No additional wiring/splicing necessary like the Batt-Man, etc.?
I just installed mine today. It lets you dial in what assist level and how fast the power ramps up in all 9 levels for both the PAS and the throttle separately. The programming takes no time once you understand the app. Then it is a matter of experimentation to dial it into what you want. If you are talking about being able to cut the assist instantaneously look at the Giant Green Button. I can thumb the button and still peddle without the assist kicking in. Just a simple cut-off. But if that's not what you want the EggRider lets you set Road and Off Road sets for all 9 levels of assist and the throttle. I use my bike for everything up to and including backcountry touring.
I gotta ask this.. Is your motor a BBSHD or a BBSHDB? I found the new version cuts the throttle when you start pedalling.. People keep say " no the throttle works even when you peddle" yes it will work butt only full throttle.. You cant add any throttle power under 100% while peddling.. So will that display fix that or do I still have to disable PAS by pulling the grey wire on the controller ??
@@JohnnyNerdOut I got word from EM3V that there is not a BBSHD-B that only applies to the BBS02 which has a newer model BBS02-B.. Im getting the BBSHD soon and will test it out.. On my BBS02-B I had to disconnect the grey PAS wire so I could apply variable throttle while I peddled..
I know exactly what you are talking about. I have used 3 controllers now(2 bikes), number 2 was like that. Throttle would only work if it was above the current pedal assist current. It is certainly a safety hazard. For instance coming to a stop and slowing down you pedaling while unknowingly still holding the throttle just a little bit, results in the motor kicking in at a very bad time. I just got controller number 3 from lunacycle Jan. 2020 and it is the "good" version. I think bafang switched back to the one we like. Or perhaps lunacycle got sick of the complaints and are modding them.IDN
Hi Johnny, nice upgrade for the BBSHD motor, I would like to see another upgrade in which a BBSHD E-Biker can visually see Individual Cell Voltages" in real time (like a cell checker) but through Bluetooth technology. I realize that it would involve a diy Bluetooth kit based around Battery connections. It would save a Faulty BMS destroying ones expensive Battery. I'm not a fan of the BMS !!! But saying that they have made improvements in Bluetooth BMS systems that do exactly what I'm suggesting but unfortunately not for the BBSHD motor/controller. GOOOOO.... the BBSHD!! 💪🏻👍🏼😊
You may have gotten a bad unit. I used to ride mine in the rain Portland all the time. Definitely not waterproof but it should be resistant. Not getting support sucks though.....
I got rid of my Eggrider after a year and over 7K miles of riding. The 500C display does everything I want and won't leave you stranded when the latest software update needs to be uploaded. The 500C is easier to see, easier to operate, and it's 1/2 the price. - photos.app.goo.gl/VWNFrPyNsbVgJ2oTA
@@JohnnyNerdOut I fine-tuned my BBS02 with the Eggride, but when I upgraded to a BBSHD I left the stock programming and there's nothing I wanted to change. Even if I did I could use the data cable for programming. I have never met anyone that changes the programming after they have it set. The 500C is so simple and easy to use, plug it in... and turn it on. Stay safe.
@@JohnnyNerdOut "It's"... of which do you speak? Because if you are referring Eggriders to your "customers" then I disagree for everyone but nerds that are more interested in collecting data rather than riding the bike. The 500C does everything an ebike rider needs, most simple and essential is provide an accurate voltage reading... one that I don't have to stop and put my glasses on to see. Stay safe.

Dynomite!! Thanks for doing this video. I just scored one from ebay for $45. Looking forward to tweaking my ludicrous controller with this. Cheers.
Nice do think this can plug into the Lectric lite ? I want a smalle display like the egg rider.
I love the eggrider display, crazy feature-packed considering the device.
pricey though, compared to other displays. But worth it!

Can you still set your paddle assist level 0 to 1 so you can have throttle on the fly??
Yes
WHERE ARE LINKS TO UPDATING FIRMWARE AND BACKING UP SETTINGS PLEASE?
You can check my program cable product page for a great link on programming the motor 👍

Be careful when programming if you are not careful you will brick the controller and the 30H fault comes up and will require a re flash ... 😁
