You have to play the 'original' RE1 before playing the remake version that came out for GameCube (if you haven't done so already).
Getting to re-experience these games through other people's eyes who've never played them before is *SO* fcking awesome.
I wish I had the super power of selective amnesia so I could forget entire games and experience them over again. I have played all these classics to death and no matter how long I leave it between playthroughs, I always remember way too much.

I first played through this game when I was 12. My little sister, who was 10 at the time, would sit next to me and watch. She'd help me try to figure things out and we'd both be so scared when going through new doorways, not knowing what to expect on the other side.
We were both super impressed by the game. Especially since it was the first 3D type game we ever beat. Before this, it was all Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo games so it was a big leap forward in realism and immersion.
Besides the characters, settings and story, the soundtrack really stood out to us. We kept commenting on how good the background music was and I ended up having my dad buy the CD version of the OST for me online.
A year later, me and my sister started volunteering at a haunted house my local youth center did each year. It was actually pretty huge and was done out of an old middle school. I brought the RE2 soundtrack with us each year and we used the music from the police station basement for our area of the haunted house. We worked it 4 years in a row and it was so much fun.

Love the atmosphere, difficulty, twitching, everything felt so...realistic. Even though now we laugh at the graphics, somehow your mind fills in the gaps and makes it scarier. Kinda like a good book as opposed to a big budget film.

It's cool that this game is still being played today by gamers like you. It makes me happy that the games I use to play as a kid is still being enjoyed today. I hope that happens more with other games that I liked back then. This was the first Resident Evil game I've played on the PS1 back when it came out when I was younger. It holds a special place in my heart because I've played this multiple times. It's so nostalgic. It may have old school graphics and late 90s voice acting but the soundtrack is really good in this game. This game alongside the first Silent Hill game are favorites of mine on the old school PlayStation!
This brings me very good memories. I played this when it was released at 1998, this game was one of my favorites of all time and it really scared me. Thanks for this video!

same, games were better back in the 90's early 2000's. more thought put in to story and atmosphere because of the lack of graphics

I was 14 when this game came out and it gave me some of the most amazing gaming experiences I ever had and I think it's so endearing to see someone younger venturing to discover what the original was all about. At the time, it was an incredibly hyped release given the success of the first one in 1996. In fact, it felt just like how we all did leading up to the release of RE4R the other week. The excitement was insane. I hope you enjoyed yourself :)

I used to watch my big brother play this game as a kid because it was too scary for me to play lol
I was still a little kid when this game came out, but I forced myself to play it, anyway, because it was just so damn cool. Each session I played was so emotionally draining, but it felt so good still. The worst parts were the ones with the giant spiders. I turned the console off the moment I first saw them and I had to take some time to hype myself up to get through it. Fuck the handgun for those parts, man, those things always got grenades and magnum slugs sent at them with extreme predjudice.
My first time playing RE 2 was the 64. Keep up the amazing work

Always loved the original RE2s music in that the eerie soundtrack has the random CRASH! sound during it. haha
This is my old favorite. I remember when my brother taught me how to play this when I was a kid in the 90s.
The OG RE2 was so impressive for its time, the graphics, voice acting quality and everything.

I'm probably biased since this came out when I was 12, but RE2 has always been my favorite. The A/B Scenario stuff was such a unique concept back in the day. The music is also just top notch.
This residential evil was the only RE games which was introduced to me when I was a kid.

the fact that you had to see the Kendo "sorry about that babe" scene three times is hilarious. It became famous because most of us died a couple times before the first save or did the demo back then, you clearly was able to have the same experience. :D

I just finished my first playthrough of the OG RE2 last week I was honestly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I did Leon A and Claire B.

My most favourite resident evil game
I've played all scenarios with Leon and Claire at least once. Good luck, as the trick in each of them is that they change item locations so it makes it more challenging. Claire B for example will change the location of certain items. It's the same with Leon. New enemies, new puzzles, one jumpscare, and great excitement. I've read the novel for this one and it has more intricate details especially when mentioning a man named Coleman who works for Umbrella, I had to assume he was a higher up in charge of sending assassins to kill people that Umbrella paid off to keep quiet. I do recommend the novels :D I know where Chris is at, shhh no spoilers. Julia, each zombie can take 4-8 bullets to kill (on occasion, 9). Good luck on conserving ammo. I do suggest using your knife when they are on the ground. Ok, that's the only help I'll give lol.

I have a copy of RE2 for the Sega Dreamcast. Hell alot of fun, more graphic visuals which was impressive for the time. Completed it years later haha.
I loove RE2 so much and it was my first horror game in 1998 ❤😁. In some story moments I think the cutscenes are better than the remake. Also the music is better 😍.

I felt that the remakes of 2 and 3 were really good, but they omitted way too much, especially RE3 Remake completely cutting out entire areas of the the game completely such as the park and clock tower. Re2 didn't cut AS much but still cut out a fair few things. At least it added some stuff to make up for it, such as the orphanage.

@@vanpiisu88 I just beat RE4 Remake yesterday. I went hardcore out of the gate and didn't look at any media or the demo beforehand. Was awesome and all the stuff that was cut was stuff I never liked in the original to begin with. They also added more to areas that really needed it too, especially Luis.
