  • One of my favorite songs from the Pale Emperor (Deluxe Version)! Enjoy!
    Lyrics for your pleasure:
I don't know if I can open up
    I've been opened enough
I don't know if I can open up
    I'm not a birthday present
    I'm aggressive regressive
    The past is over
And now passive seems so pathetic
Are we fated, faithful, or fatal?
Are we fated, faithful, or fatal?
I'm feelin' stoned and alone like a heretic
I'm ready to meet my maker
I'm feelin' stoned and alone like a heretic
I'm ready to meet my maker
Lazarus has got no dirt on me
Lazarus has got no dirt on me
And I'll rise to every occasion
I'm the Mephistopheles of Los Angeles
    Of Los Angeles
Don't know if I can open up
    I been opened too much
Double-crossed glossed over in my pathos
Are we fated, faithful, or fatal?
Are we fated, faithful, or fatal?
I'm feelin' stoned and alone like a heretic
I'm ready to meet my maker
I'm feelin' stoned and alone like a heretic
I'm ready to meet my maker
Lazarus has got no dirt on me
Lazarus has got no dirt on me
And I'll rise to every occasion
I'm the Mephistopheles of Los Angeles
    Of Los Angeles
Are we fated, faithful, or fatal?
Are we fated, faithful, or fatal?
I'm feelin' stoned and alone like a heretic
I'm ready to meet my maker
I'm feelin' stoned and alone like a heretic
I'm ready to meet my maker
I'm feelin' stoned and alone like a heretic
I'm ready to meet my maker
I'm feelin' stoned and alone like a heretic
I'm ready to meet my maker
Lazarus has got no dirt on me
Lazarus has got no dirt on me
And I'll rise to every occasion
I'm the Mephistopheles of Los Angeles
    Of Los Angeles
I'm the Mephistopheles of Los Angeles

P.S. I felt moved to share a little personal story that I don’t share that much, but here it goes-I met Manson once, on the Mechanical Animals tour, at the Hammerstein Ballroom; I was 18 at the time and had a friend that worked at the venue he was playing. I’d always been a fan going back to Portrait, but had never got to see him live. So my friend Tik (RIP) got me in to see him that night. The show was then ,and still is, the most amazing performance I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen Black Sabbath, Bowie, Slayer and Prince, so that is saying A LOT. It was everything I hoped it would be, and more. Electric. All Powerful. Visceral. Transcendent. Primal. ART. Blew my mind. Just incredible. After the show, and with the help of said friends all area pass, beyond all belief I actually got to meet Manson. No we didn’t have sex. He was actually rather shy, as am I (never been the groupie type at all) and I was a stranger after all. No he did not come on to me, nor I him (even though he was hypnotically sexy as a motherfucker; so long and so lean, gorgeous bone structure, lush lipsticked mouth, just beautiful, so beautiful in person you wouldn’t even believe it) It wasn’t about that. It wasn’t about sex. If you’re looking for that kind of story, mine isn’t it 😉Yes, we did do drugs together. Good drugs. Really top notch china. I’ve never been an addict, but back then, in my younger years, I did like to partake once in a while. And it was to good of a once in a lifetime kind of moment to pass up😉He even gave me a t-shirt that reads “I did drugs with Manson” (which were the staff t-shirts)🤣I still have that shirt. Anyway that night we talked into the wee hours about religion, books, how and why we’re both actually agnostic (he’s not a devil worshipper by any sense of the word, and his Satanism is more a philosophy than believing in some devil and doing sacrifices and shit like that 🤣) movies, Crowley, music, art, fashion, make up, medieval torture and practices, torturous early medical practices, the concepts of heaven and hell, being only children, hair products, being force fed religion growing up, different things that made our parents wierd and crazy (I’ve seen and lived through some horrible shit in my life including my parents being in a religious cult when I was a little kid-therefore I was in a cult when I was a little kid because I had no choice-I was a little kid), and how no matter what anyone may say, no one knows for sure what really happens when we die. We also concluded that we had a shared belief that it’s deep seeded fear of that unknown part of death that partially drives people to turn to religion for answers and assurances in the first place. It makes them feel less afraid of the unknown when they can believe that they now know for sure. Essentially the unknown ceases to be an unknown for them anymore. We talked about the nature of evil, and the evil that lies in the heart of organized religion. The atrocities that have, are, and will be done in it’s name. I told him that if the devil really does exist, organized religion is the greatest trick he ever played on the world. He laughed like the devil when I said that. He said I was perceptive, which was a HUGE complement that I still treasure. I told him he was a brilliant artist; he responded with “See? I told you you were perceptive” 😂 I still to this day always refer to him as a brilliant artist in all my comments and conversations. Like a little acknowledgement to myself of that surreal, phantasmagorical, magical night where I got to tell him that in person. It’s how I will always think of him. Brilliant, An Artist. He’s also very witty in person, very dry and ironic sense of humor which we’re kindred in that regard. That night I asked him for nothing, and he asked nothing of or from me. We gave each other a hug, I told him thank you, and I left. I never saw or spoke to him again. He probably doesn’t even remember that night, but I’ll remember and treasure it for the rest of my life. That night, all those years ago, he really was (and still is) the Mephistopheles of Los Angeles to me 😉🖤🔥👍🤘

Christopher Cole Owen YW!! Thanks for posting this great video. I enjoyed his performance a lot. He’s very talented. I don’t usually write anything on RUclips about that experience. It’s a memory and a night that I hold near and dear, and I don’t want it used as some platform to talk shit on Manson about how good he USED to be or call me a liar so it’s usually just not worth it for me to share it; or I should say most people aren’t worthy of knowing it 🤣 Just felt like it would be ok to share it on this video; an acoustic cover version of a newer Manson song-which to me means the real fans are here, not just trolls scouring a 20+ mil. viewed video of “The Beautiful People”, looking to talk shit and trying to ruin it for everyone 😂 I’ve subscribed to your channel too. Look forward to more music. Thank you for allowing me to recall a great old memory that I’ll truly have with me for the rest of my life. TC and rock on🤘

Terrific acoustic cover of a brilliant song by a brilliant, legendary, and one of a kind artist. “I’m aggressive aggressive” is also, in my opinion, one of the greatest, most powerful lyrics ever written. Using only 3 words, it truly says it all. Great vocals and layered guitar playing. Sounded awesome. You did this song real justice, which says a lot considering the source the song came from😉 beautifully done 👏👍to the person who posted the video-the title of this song is actually The Mephistopheles of Los Angeles; might want to change your title in the video out of respect to the artist who wrote it. Just a heads up 👍

Thank you very much for the kind words! This version is based off of the acoustic version on the deluxe version of the album, which is titled "Fated, Faithful, Fatal." It also contains acoustic versions of two other songs which contain similar reworked titles.

It's based off the acoustic version which came with the deluxe version of the album, and on there it's titled "Fated, Faithful, Fatal." The other two acoustic remixes also have different titles based on lyrics in the song. :)

I believe it's in standard tuning, dropped a half step to E flat/D sharp. I play by ear mostly so I never consciously write the chords out. It's mostly power chords though. The verse is 5 > 3 > 1. Add some flavor in there between the spaces, like 8 > 10, or 8 > 7 before going back to 5. Hope that helps :X The high single note parts were all done on the fly and I most certainly could not reproduce them the same way a second time, lol :P
