First time I entered the Seafloor Shrine and reached the huge hall where you meet Rothais, when I saw that huge spiral walkway upwards, I was like "no way, this is the Everfall!". Then I played the end game and when I reached the upper ruins of the shrine it all became clear to me; all roads really do lead to Gran Soren, after all.
when I had that tiny bit to explore of the ruins above water after meeting Rothais, I had a moment of 'oh cool ruins!' then the shape of the room slapped me in the face. it wasn't just random ruins, it was the castle. I went all around trying to get to areas of previous importance. the corner Mercedes hung around in, the Duke's Solar, Aelinore's tower, etc. so nostalgic. but also, kind of sad.
My second time in unmorred world and it hit me just about an hour ago. This is Gran Soren. My Arisen and his pawn are home at last. All roads do indeed lead to Gran Soren in the end.
So, to explain, yes, the entire seafloor shrine area is the former Gran Soren. Rothais is actually the current Seneschal, and because of it, the "First Arisen" in a new "wheel" which got utterly twisted by Roth leaving his post as an impartial steward, to found Vermund. His actions further screwed up the cycle, as another Arisen decided to fight against the Dogma of the world, and that man hangs just outside Harve Village.
This is the side of the game that players that didnt play girst dont see and that the media cant portray because they werent attentive enough to see very cool good eye ❤
When I first got to the Seafloor Shrine during the main story quest, before getting to the post-game, I recall thinking "Wow that looks a lot like the Everfall!" when you meet the previous Seneschal. After getting to the surface I decided to use the Mage / Sorcerer's Levitate to explore the upper area of the ruins that you can only reach in the Unmoored World. And then it hit me that it was the ruins of Gran Soren.
I had a feeling it was Gran Soren. When the Crazy Dragonforged mentioned a previous Arisen tired of is perch from on high. It reminded me of the Seneschal. Then we meet him, and he whips out Godsbane. Hit me in the feels a bit sense I played that game like crazy a decade ago.
I didn’t realize until I noticed the shop placement because the area itself it quite scaled down. The one tower circle where you fight one of the brine dragons (near vermund) is supposed to be blue moon tower but again it’s scale down so I didn’t realize at first.
That dungeon or The Everfall you refer to is literally the place where you first met Rothais in this game The difference is that he place the Seneschal throne at the center of where we fight the eye
Omg what??? I thought we were gonna get a reference back to GS at some point in the game but I just never saw the similarities or connection. My God….i feel so stupid now.
so lore wise what happened? i wouldnt say im a huge dd fan but i love both of the games, like did we just killed the brine? what with the old man sailing out and all it would be cool as hell if we can actually swim now lol hopefully in the new dlc
there's a filled hole in the ruins exactly where the everfall hole was + you can find the current seneschal on his throne on a place similar to the pre-hole everfall
all roads led to gran soren 💀💀
I hope the DLC hits as hard as this. 120+ hours invested so far and couldn't be happier with it.
They're masterworks all, you can't go wrong

All roads truly do lead to gran soren, I suppose.

Remember
Wolves hunt in packs
They're weak to fire!
I'll enchant your weapon with a magical booooon
Another cycle end, the new one begins

I know what you're saying and don't, at the same time 🗿

I already recognized gran soren when I was in the friggin jail and I splurged all over my computer
Gaol and church all all there as well.
Even cassardis church (when teleporting to the Agamen Portcrystal in the Unmoored World)
I'm sadden by the fact that Cassardis remains is so little
Like they actually make it so as if its been 10000000+ years since dd1
all roads lead to gran soren
i thought that area seemed familiar now i know why!, really good catch dude!
Dayum. I would never think about this. Now I won't get lost in gran soren anymore.

these games are masterworks, all
when i saw this i cried tears of weep
Also blue moon tower(griffin story fight) from dd1 is sitting right next to Vernworth, when you are in the unmoored world(pink boss fight)
Too bad the dungeon below the pawn guild is gone. Would be cool to go down there and fight the Evil Eye again.
That dungeon or The Everfall you refer to is literally the place where you first met Rothais in this game
The difference is that he place the Seneschal throne at the center of where we fight the eye
and now look at the moonglint tower a bit closer 😉
its crazy i knew it felt familiar
I thought it was a eerily familiar, quite depressing to see how it became a lost kingdom
perfect post game
I had no idea, but that is awesome
I've learned of beasts
Omg what??? I thought we were gonna get a reference back to GS at some point in the game but I just never saw the similarities or connection. My God….i feel so stupid now.
The brine has won ground. The submerged ruins right next to Vermund? That's the Moonlight Tower
the drip in dd1 looks better
I bet William defoe play them both
We need a BBI type dlc
Hope the DLC is good like dark arisen
I cried

I really hope that in the DLC we can swim.
No Everfall? 😢

dd1 released in 2012? hehe...
tis aloft!?
I miss dd1 soundtrack. And it's story is more compelling. Grigori was well written that made him memorable.
DD1 soundtrack is an addon for DD2
DD2 reused DDDA's assets. That's disappointing..
Doesnt resemble gran soren all that much to me. Wow stand made out of wood n rocks.
