OMG the Companion AI is shit, i will be getting my ass kicked and he will just stand there looking at me but other than that i am enjoying the game
And they claimed they patched it.
raggaeonelove Ray just runs around while im getting attacked so annoying.
Ray is completely useless, but Caja is amazing. She actually helps and doesn't seem to be glitched like the others.
João C. Falcão havent gotten her yet, going to have to try her out thanks
Sometimes you need to pull the enemy to your companion before it hits you, to trigger his attack.
It's the same system since Gothic 1, and I rarely experienced any problems.
Just to clarify: The delay as you decribe it is a mechanic called "stun time". In most older action-RPGs was a stun time built in to make the attacks matter more as you have to time it better, but as it looks here, the stun time in Elex seems to be roughly 0,3 secs which is just way too much to face against such agile enemies. If Piranha Bytes reduces the stun time to 0,1-0,15 secs you will be fine. Other problems I see personally are 1.) the charge speed of melee attacks is a bit (~20%) too low and 2.) the charged attacks aren't hitting as the character doesn't dash forward enough to hit fast enemies. Increase the range of the dash by 30% and increase the charge-speed of melee attacks by 20% + AT LEAST cut the stun time in halve. After those - mostly numerical - changes the combat will be way more fluid, but probably easier as well.
What gets me is that you have to pass through endgame mobs to join factions. You have to fight an NPC 1v1 that was Skull-level for my lvl 14 character if you want to join the Clerics. It's absurd. You basically have to avoid combat before you hit level 15 and get some upgraded guns. You could still engage in combat in Gothic and Risen even at low levels, you just had to mind yourself, but in Elex you don't even have an option to fight anything for the first 15-20 hours of the game.
Try Night of the Raven on for size...
Ranziel1 and that’s why I uninstalled after around 11 hours of play. I got tired of having to run away all the time.
Then you didn't even get to the fun part of any PB game, being able to moider everything at the end, and everyone who's done you wrong.
@@ze_rubenator What made the challenge fun for me in Night of the Raven is that you had a chance of winning the fight, enemies usually had a pattern that you could outplay if you are skilled enough, also you could use Scrolls like Fire rain, Transform into an animal, etc.
Basically, you had ways to defeat enemies, but I don't see this option in Elex as attack animation is insanely slow, melee controls just feel less responsive and slower and you have this stupid ass stamina bar that gets depleted in 1 second at beginning.
In NotR you also had somebody (Lares) to escort you through a large part of the map, while this is not the case in Elex.
Legit the only way to do anything is to get a companion and just run around while he kills stuff, which is lame and gets boring fast.
The only thing that makes Elex fun for me in the early game (besides the atmosphere, quests, and world) is JETPACK. It literally saved the game in my opinion because it makes running around much more fun :)
You know you can disable the autolock in the options right? I found myself actually enjoying the combat a lot without the autolock.
Martin Švarc great advice, I will try that.
I agree with this, it is still hard to time the attacks when each chain only goes in the direction you started attacking in, so you must wait until it ends to change direction.. Might need some adjustments PB
Martin Švarc where is that option? I can't find it. I know you can toggle it on and off with X but I would like it to be off by default.
Options - difficulty - close combat focus. Btw you have to be in game for the difficulty tab to appear, because your difficulty settings can be different in each playthrough.
shit i need to try that
Kiting is super OP against a lot of single enemies. I can just walk backwards and shoot my bow at them, (without getting too far from them, then they'll just switch to ranged attacks) while they just walk towards me and take the shots. No dodging, no sprinting, just walking towards me.
I been playing a lot. I have 40 hrs in it. I’m level 30. The combat is a lot easier now. I can take down 3 trolls at once now and it just makes me feel like a bad ass. Here is a tip that I learned. Don’t join a faction right away. Go to every faction and do as many quest as you can with each of them. Then join one. Your obviously going to spend A LOT of hrs in the game but it’s worth it.
You do it wrong. Just focus on the bar near weapon icon. The combat isn't so hard or "broken". You just need to atack in right time (when gray line sticks to short vertical line on combat stance bar.
I loved Elex for real, i played it through and it was a great time, the only thing that was a bit derpy was the end, it felt stretched, but after playing gothic 1 thats childs play, play gothic 1 through till the end, and you will notice that the games piranha bytes makes are like that, there is no thing that needs to be fixed trust me, thats how they make games and thats how they are known for it, gothic fans want that, and i liked it too, combat is fine how it is, i think piranha bytes wants to have new players but they dont want and cant make a game for everyone, everyone is different, and me personaly they shouldnt stop making games like that, if they make a game like the witcher or others i would be actually sad, i love the raw feeling and the clunkiness, it feels like a real rpg how it should be, i even love gothic 3 how it was, these games are perfect you just need to like them.
I've play for about 20 hours the combat can be frustrating when the game makes it impossible to not get hit. I appreciate when a game takes skill but if you are going to have a game that everything can kill you in 2 or 3 hits and you get stunned on hit, you have to make the combat fluid and also hit boxes need some work. Seriously I doged out of the room and still got hit for half health.
I agree, the hit boxes need to get fixed, at this point, dodge roll is useless.
Same with Dark Souls, I got killed through a wall.
Hehe, it's not really a hitbox mechanic here,it's more of a begin animation-expected resullt-end animation. If the troll picks up the boulder and begins his throwing animation,it won;t matter what u do,u will get hit.try it:).Also, try to dodge(double tab or keybind)exactly before he throws it,you will notice the boulder landing on your last location.
Razvan T That's even worse than I thought. Wow just wow. I guess they just focused on the world and said combat isn't important.
You can definitely dodge a trolls rock.. you just have to do it once its mid flight it aim bots at you and predicts your movement so if youre just running a straight line it will compensate its aim, although if you roll properly when its mid flight you will avoid the rock only to take damage anyway because your hitbox is the size of a small truck
The main problem is the draining stamina... would a beginner need a rest after a few light strikes? I don't think so. Als the reward (exp) is much to low for the "harder" creeps. If this would be fixed and the "walking stuck" problem (the character tumbles about every 100th pixel), the game could be really great.
Loving this game. It's janky as all hell but I come from an older generation when jank was the norm and it didn't stop anybody from making excellent games. I don't need motion captured sword fighting spammy combat. Just a well thought out game.
Me too. I'm 42 and this new generation of multi-million-dollar-AAA-title-pampered-sissy-gamers isn't good for the industry.
They need a better balance in combat. If developers make a game so difficult then they are only limiting their own sales and profits and people won't buy it. Having to turn down difficulty to Easy just to work around the poorly designed combat mechanics is not good.
Anorax I never turned the game to easy so you certainly don't have to do that. You chose to make it easy because you were having a hard time, that's why the developers made an easy mode. But that's not enough. The game should by default be easier that way you can play on hard and still pretend you're incredible at video games.
Jank was never the norm.
The combat mechanics are fine, the problems I have with it are: the AI, and the fact that sometimes, inexplicably, enemies will be able to attack you whilst you're attacking it (as in, you hit them with an attack but they immediately attack you back which is impossible to avoid)
The thing that ruins this game IMO is its tendency to make things which could be better, tedious. Combat was nice and that slow motion moments that allow you to perform counters is good. HOWEVER, what makes it tedious is the fact that enemies actually seem more fluid and polished at certain times during certain behaviors.Try comparing the movement of those raptor things easily encountered near the beginning when they dodge around you, compared to you dodging around them. They feel more fluid than you. And it adds frustration because you have to compensate more. Sure, that may add to the challenge (played previous Gothic games), but when you add the fact that these are just mob enemies, and that you encounter them in groups later accompanied by stronger enemies, it starts to fall apart. It can easily be remedied though if they just patch the combat fluidity. The micro scale issue in combat aside, this is where the tediousness begins. Non-scaling enemies are fine. I repeat, FINE. What breaks it in this game is that you literally have no way of predetermining/assessing/perceiving if one or two, or a pack of enemies before you are way over your level. You literally have no ability to sense threat levels prior to engagement, which human beings actually rely on even in gaming before they decide to engage an enemy or a boss. You literally have to get sent to the gameover screen first so you can understand that "Um, no. Those mooks are OP for my level.".Now this is also FINE. BUT, it depends on the game's design and structure. The Souls games capitalize on this flow cycle and you could tell how much of a threat an enemy would be just by appearances alone. The mushrooms were an example of this issue of being unidentifiable threats. If Elex was a side-scrolling game similar to arcade ones or castlevania, or maybe even a rail-shooter, or just had visually obvious design of enemies above your level it would work just FINE by design. The problem is that this is an RPG with action elements. You can't just start the stage over--wait, there are no stages. And if you happen to not have saved prior to just stumbling upon an OP mob that isn't even strategically placed properly or just even logically, and you're in the middle of a long-winded adventure, you die and find yourself pissed that you have to repeat a lot of things since you couldn't even tell that you were stumbling onto territory with enemies maybe 10 levels above you in an area where you were just starting on (another reviewer here on YT literally had that experience upon a new game and he met NPCs that just aggroed him and pelted him with grenade launchers with so little delay between fire he couldn't even run. It was right near the cave he came out of and thought the enemies were a starting area settlement.).Bad level design due to enemy placements and lack of threat level identification accompanied by unbalanced player-vs-enemy movement fluidity is a good way to make things tediously stressful for "gameplay" at an alarming rate. You'd literally have to be paranoid about every corner to avoid dying and it makes exploring the massive world unenjoyable. Which pretty much breaks the point that a game should be "fun and exciting entertainment" rather than a "time-wasting source of additional stress". I must point out though, that these issues can actually be remedied easily by patches if they actually see these issues and accept their mistakes rather than putting it off as "challenging gameplay" and relying on their fans to defend them. The combat isn't hard. It's as others said, clunky, due to the discrepancies I pointed out, and that piles up with those other issues I said.
What difficulty are you playing on? I started playing on the hardest difficulty, and the monsters that you are killing in this video are just indestructible on my playthrough! haha
if you only have one granade left you can fly much higher :D
you use jetback, aim with the grenade and you throw it
the jetback thinks it hovers (which takes much less energy) but still goes up
so you have like twice as much jetback energy to go up
i actually thought that bug is awesome, i don't know if anyone else got it
Huh really? That's a new one. Thanks for the trick. You have to throw away all your grenades but the last one? And then you throw that last one too so it's only if you want to do some special kinda burst to get really high I guess?
Yeah it happened to me yesterday. As of now it's still not fixed
For the amount of polish (or lack of) I feel the game is way overpriced, when it's the same cost as a AAA title the consumer expects a certain level of product.
If anyone is having trouble with combat I encourage you to look up a video about combos. Doesn't matter your level or weapon the special attack easily does x10 damage compared to all other attacks. Fill that meter! Then push triangle! Or Q for PC.
If they couldn't tune the combat before the release, for which they had bloody long time, they will certainly not fix it in patch, they didn't fix it in risen 2,or 3,have in mind I beat all their games including Gothic series, but combat is just awful, compared to the world they created, which is really shame, game looks beautiful,i do hope they tweak it at least somewhat in the patch, wont be buying until then.
P.S sorry for a long rant
Elvis Samardzic it's just mind boggling that it seems they put no effort or thought into combat (which is a main part of the game) when everything else is great.
mmorpgs have better combat than elex. But elex is still special and im glad it exists
i played for over 40 hours already and didn't find a grenade launcher or a shotgun. Nowhere to buy. Found a shotgun in adessa town behind the counter of the outlaw tavern. Found a unique grenadelauncher in cleric area. But that are the only ones. I am cleric.
You can also get a grenade launcher from one of the outlaws on the farm near Abessa if you do the outlaw quest for Rock.
You are supposed to give it to him but I think you can keep it for yourself.
I've been playing for almost 50 hours on console and the game is actually really stable. I'll occasionally have my frame rate drop to a snails pace and have to restart the game because of it to fix it but other than that it generally runs smooth.
Combat can be clunky at times and the early game is very difficulty (can be) if your trying to kill everything you see. Game is very unforgiving in that regard as early on some enemies can take an absolute beating while killing you in 2-3 hits. Later on however you'll start to feel like a super powered bad ass, you'll still take a good chunk of damage when hit but you'll often times find your self killing most enemies in melee combat before you even able to get off a special attack.(so you'll be 2-3 hitting most enemies late game)
Really good tip for people starting out, check periodically if you have recipes for the Elex potions and make the normal and large ones exclusively to further boost your characters power as they give permanent bonuses. You can also receive recipes for permanent stamina, health and energy potions which can be made an consumed multiple times assuming you have the materials to make them.
What has NOT to be fixed is the size of the map. It's pretty big! I just finish my walk across the complete map. 50 minutes of walking.
Im fine with combat. Its the randomness of enemy difficulty. Its like they filled a bag with random level enemys, shook it up and then poured it on the world map. Even in the starting area you can fight an enemy thats on your level then run over a hill and get one shotted by an enemy thats way to strong for you. I find myself running past and hiding from enemys more often than im engaging in combat.
So many games now how enemy levels scale so it's a adjustment when a game doesn't which I'm glad they don't scale
Thats one of the reasons why I was excited for some of the newer remasters. Less handholding is always a good thing. Final Fantasy XII's Level 30 Dinosaur in the second play area is still one of my favorite Game Over-screens ever
I agree with OP, I can see encouraging people to run from some battles, but this game really does feel entirely random. I'm not saying it would be better with level zones but its a little aggravating to battle 1 or 2 enemies, then walk 10 feet and see the exact same type of enemy run up and 1 shot me
Enemies are also random, you can save and reload and get different enemies spawning in the same spot which I thought everything was set in place for a reason but nope it's random.
Mark Hills you actually become op pretty quick. Well If you go cleric at least. The psionics attack "black hole" can be spammed to clear crowds like they nothing. It even works on large enemys.
Disable target locking in the settings. Also you can break auto lock by briefly jetpacking.
I'm on my 2nd playthrough and yes i admit the battles are tough but rather than head off into unknown territory just stick to the settlements to do their quests and get Arx as a buddy in the early portion of the game.
Also seems like ranking up with the Outlaws (getting armor) is bugged on console, not sure if its happening to anyone on pc.I am enjoying the game despite its issues. Game needs some post launch patches/support and hopefully PB and THQ Nordic make it happen.
Cant remember the quest but I thought I was supposed to get the Runner armor upon joining the faction and didn't. I've since started a new game, fresh, and am going to try Outlaws again and see what happens. Glad to hear it worked for you :) honestly maybe I did something wrong.
Are you going to do any lore, faction or charcter build guides?
I enjoy the combats limitations. I feel the add to the immersion. Taking multiple enemies easily and “fluid” combat would betray the old school RPG feel this title does so well. I hope they leave it alone. It’s perfect.
No, it's logic. Swinging one or two handed a 15 to 20 kg heavy sword/mace would have exactly this slow animation. Kids are so used to play with sticks they think every oblongated object has the same physics.
I don't mind the combat, but I do mind the STAMINA BAR. At least you could turn it off in the options so once I did that I had much more fun in the game :)
It's funny how people complain all the fucking time about the combat in Elex sucking (Which it really does not, it's just complex and you can't spam click to beat all opponents like in Skyrim for example), while i didn't hear any complains at all about the Witcher 3 combat which i felt was't better than this.
The only problem i have about the combat is the AI, like that you autolock opponents.
So you think this game has better combat than the witcher??
ELEX COMBAT SYSTEM SUCKS
First tip, use double tap to dodge, fighting head on is not recommended. Secondly, this game really takes me back to the days games were a challenge, way to many games over the last few years are way to easy and in honesty just start to bore me. If you think this game is difficult you should try playing a game called "Szone online" on the pve server, it can take you ages just trying to figure out how to get past the easy dogs without instant death lol.
The Witcher 3 (TW3) did this auto-locking on enemies. It would hurl you about sometimes as you swung and were auto-switched to another enemy. However TW3 game was so good you forgave it, and secondly you had quicksave and quickload to correct anything. Potions auto-replenished in meditation so there was never a worry for health long-term.
You're mashing the attack button here.... You have faction gear and still don't understand how the combo system works? I can see why you're finding this hard on normal.
i mostly agree with you but i also think that the clunky combat is kind of a part of the game now and i think it would be way to easy if blocking and dodging would become way easier
Piranha Bytes is a pretty small german studio with only 25 employes ... non of their games had a great combat system. Guess you're just too young to understand what a PB game is about. ELEX is amazing - okay, they have to fix some bugs, but not the combat tho.
The game is brutal. Not enough money, hard to find quests that give you experience, and this is even on Easy difficulty. Progression outside of the town is pretty much an exercise in frustration and death.
Anorax Just talk with everybody you see. Sure some of them will have a quest for you.
Quests give a lot more experience than fighting so try to do some talking and problem solving quests to level up. You can then invest in talents so maybe one day you'll be able to leave town without dying. In the beginning you are very weak but you soon will find yourself being much stronger
than before.
The difference between dark souls and elex, both are challenging, but dark souls is fun...elex is not fun! Usually in these challenging games; there`s a sense of progression, in elex you don`t seem to feel like you`re getting stronger!
Havel The Rock How long did you played the game now?
Why the question?
Because you can feel how you get stronger with every level with every new weapon....
If gothic 3 needed a community patch, what makes you think that PB will fix the Elex combat?
Seems like a pretty big thing to fix.
i applaud your rational conclusion. The PB community is notorious for being almost more zealous in defending PB games than the CoD crowd. It's good to hear a long term fan criticising it properly, instead of just telling everyone to 'git gud' or be a full-time PB apologist, glorifying shoddy game design/mechanics.
That being said, the combat will never improve. Again, I blame the community for this, as they never give PB the incentive to do so. Instead, they just praise it as 'classic PB combat', and insist 'that's just how it is and how it should be'
Jack Daniels First risen actually has better combat then next two, said that Gothic 2 is their best game combat, story, and world hands down.
Jack Daniels I like this combat very much, it' challenging but still fair.
the game is like a remastered mid 2000s rpg with choppy combat. but is actually pretty fun.
This is my 1st pb game ever. The combat is solid and takes time to learn. The lock on system is garbage and needs to be done away with, and yes sometimes hit boxes don't match up like your playing cod on a p2p network, but most of the time it's a great solid and frustrating experience where u flip off the monitor as you hit continue. Idk why i love it so much plz hel,. I love this game! It is the only logical solution! Praise the Hybrid!
This game is incredible if you look past it flaws. I feel more immersed in this then skyrim. Some characters are so unpredictable, it really makes you think about your decisions. They will have concequenses and the game will tell you when you fucked up.
Hey LKM--has some of the problems with this game been patched or fixed to some extent? I'm thinking of picking it up at a bargain price.
They wanted to bring back the Gothic feeling so they made it nearly impossible to fight multiple enemies again because of the lock-on system, lol.
Slower projectiles would improve the game a lot. Above that you'd need more clear attack animations so you know when to dodge.
oh - and the initial attack would need to do a litle more dmg. special attack bar is running out too fast in my opinion.
The main problem i dont like with combat, is that if i kill an enemy with the first hit of a combo, it still finishes that combo and leaves me drained of stamina and open for attack from another enemy ... just like at 3:06
I'm on the Xbox version and having a really problematic bug right now. For some reason I can't go to the Dome City or anywhere near it. Every single time I go there, everyone both my character and the NPC's for some reason can't speak, all the sound effects except for music is broken and I can't save or reload a save there if I'm in the vicinity. It's like that whole area is completely 100% broken. I do hope they fix this soon, judging by the last patch notes for the day one patch it seems some pretty significant changes... I just hope they do it soon.
the biggest problem with this game is the difficulty level, i'm playing it on easy and getting my ass handed to me
man you've been cranking* out videos on this game, its clear that its a "labor of love" situation. kudos. did you beat it yet?
I like games that have weighted movement in combat similar to Souls game but what made it works in Souls game is that the enemy moves are (mostly) slow if not about the same speed as the character. However in Elex most monsters are faster than you which resulted in range combat being superior to melee. This can be seen when engaging a group of mobs with one of them having rocket/flame thrower, it's just not fun being melee.
If this can be fixed then I would say it will make Elex a very solid game.
I think the weird quirks with combat to do with the AI and a few other things really make it shine. It makes enemies unpredictable. They might just do something weird that throws you off. It's not always a mathematical equation you just work out and repeat all the time. Some totally east monsters can surprise you and it's like they got a crit or something and hurt you surprisingly bad. Not often but it can happen. It's more like real life. Anyone and anything can be unpredictable because it's not running on a program. How they were able to do this? no idea.. but it's really cool I think. Horizon: Zero Dawn had some of this kinda behavior too early on, but as I got so powerful it was not noticed so much because I just shrugged off everything. Hopefully that doesn't completely happen here.
Go to the outlaw outpost and buy 20 grenades from the armour smith , makes killing everything so much easier
Understanding ELEX's Melee Combo Meter & System: Mini-Tutorial is the answer!
the combat in this game is why i changed my mind on buying it. It just doesn't look good, it looks awkward, almost like one of those final fantasy games while they were transitioning from turn based to somewhat real time but still timer based moves. If it had fluid combat the game would be an immediate buy for me but as it stands it's even painful to watch. Not being able to easily switch targets is something that these games should not have problems with anymore, we should be long over those types of issues by now.
Valid point. The combat would improve the gameplay experience. It’s a lot of running around avoiding combat so far in my experience because of the clunky gameplay and the enemy strength. I find myself often looking for enemy in the zone to kill the enemy I have as mission objectives. After the enemy kill each other I run and hide lol.
the game seems great in content, but has too many noticeable flaws. the sad part is that i think pb will be making another new average game before perfecting elex. but hey, there are always community patches when the developer drops the ball, right? (or so i hope)
Im loving this game, more of the same good old stuff. The thing I really didn't like though is the confusing user interface where they use weird symbols instead of just saying what it is and also it would be great if there was a mini map on screen too instead of that useless compass thing.
Combat would be so much more enjoyable if the animations werent so shit..Controlling your character sorta feels like trying to race a Semi truck
I don't think the combat was ever fixable. Seems a game has to be made in japan for melee based ARPG. I would think The Witcher 3 would be a game to be considered to have bad combat as well, but most gamer's are droned out so they can't notice.
The biggest problem with this game is the price. They're charging full AAA price for an indie budget and at this price the combat is unacceptable. Its like they ignored all the complaints about Risen 2 and 3 and went ahead as if everything is fine.
www.google.de/search?q=elex+key&rlz=1C1AWFC_enDE764DE764&oq=elex+key&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i60l5.1318j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
Oh 35 Bucks are full price now?
Kexin games always had prices like this.
The dont care for Fans Anymore ....
I think the combat is ok... Its challenging which makes game better
Is anyone else experiencing a glitch where the attack button won’t work? Not talking about running out of stamina either, although I think the default amount of stamina should be higher. Jax (even though he’s not on elex anymore) should know how to defend himself better than some cultivator pleb.
I like the game because it is a lot like Risen, which I loved. Didn't care for Risen 2 or 3 though. Need to brush up the hit boxes and NPC AI in game is what I mainly want to see in a patch.
I'll get it in a week. The dev deserves the support.
I have only played the game for a short time so far but i am still enjoying the game quite a bit, as a person who enjoyed all the Gothic and Risen games, i am never to picky when it comes to anything so cant wait to play it more.
hahahaha you really think this is going to be fixed? mate Piranha Bytes have NEVER done any major fixes like that before, and I'm 99% sure they won't start now. Maaaybe there will be a slight improvement of NPC AI but certainly not a revision of combat.
The biggest issue facing ELEX is its fans. Let me be clear, most of them are fine but a vocal minority make any form of critique into a capital crime.
Companion AI is terrible, but if all else fail and he/she wont attack , I just use a bow from a platform and he/she will attack, but the AI is so damn terrible and the animation for Caja looks like someone just broke her neck while keep shooting at enemy even though the path is blocked. Companion wont keep shooting until enemy dead but instead it stops after shooting a few times and I have to shoot an enemy to trigger it again.
It's also kinda impossible to not get hit even against a lowbie/weak mob, unless at endgame when they become really weak, but against common monsters, it's still impossible to not get hit especially when against multiple enemies. They should make enemy attack animation slower so we can see or feel it before they actually land the hit, like in Witcher 3, it's really satifsying when succeeded in dodging or parrying enemy attack.
I chose Berserker in my playthrough but all of the skills are kinda useless. I can just pick melee with sword and range with bow and kill everything without using any berserker skill or berserker fists.
Beh, I like Daggerfall's combat system... So i'm ok... I know that only a small part of you will understand what I mean for "Daggerfall's combat system"...
So if the game was fixed, more people would play it. No shit Sherlock....
I don't think there will be any fixing patch for this game. Only if the community decide to do smth about the issues....
That combat needs to be patched. Combat ally AI and enemy AI. No way the enemies shouldnt be competing against one another. Instead of banning together to chase you. Like they joining forces
They could make in elex 2 that posibile to create a community, a town, like origin but with more quests, and to be able to create houses and stuff and map more like in gothic, and more quests with each chapter and change world after big decisions you make
yea right now im having a problem where when i log in it loads me into the game with no health and my character is just gone and i cant do anything i have tried logging out and closing the game but nothing is working, has anyone else had this problem when loading into the game and know how to fix it? because at this rate i can not play without having to completely restart the game. And its not like i can fix it either i cant find where the files are saved for progress in the game either because for some reason its not saved where all my other steam game files are.
P.S. if you are looking to play a game like this i suggest to just stick to bethesda at this rate because this game is technically a ripoff version of their games and bethesda games also do not have as bad bugs as these games do.
The combat is fine, what isn't fine is the janky auto lock system which you can disable. Also the landing animation and landing to run time have terrible unnecessarily long recovery times. Out of the 40+hrs i have in the game atleast 10hrs is filled with just landing and landing to run animations.... It starts to wear on you when you're doing outlaw missions and back tracking rough terrain. Also the companion ai is shit, they pull their weapon out after the fights ended. Other than that though this game is awesome! I'm loving it so far and probably the fastest game ive pirated, and bought after about 5hrs of gameplay. Luckily saves carried over no problem. ;)
Well the combat wont be fixed any time soon thats for sure
Why? They immidiately added an evade move in Risen 2 after people's outcry about the difficulty. They may change something.
Year later and they havent. The game is still the tits tho
Oh i can't express how sad i'm. :( Really want to experience this game world, just to explore, but with this system it's impossible, they just made the game linear with this level and combat system. :(
I have hit many berserkers and clerics by accident because of the auto lock. I find the mkst annoying thing about it is the lag for it to come on or off when on ps4
I love PB games but, the group fights and the dodge mechanics are bad. I like 1 vs fights they are not that bad but against groups it makes me rage some times.
PS: I love the game anyway
yes the combat is ridiculous sometimes its best to turn off auto lock bad thing is no matter what you can smack a friendly by accident and create even more enemies
Of all the many faults. For me the biggest is the controls, they suck both on keyboard and controller. I'd much prefer controller if you could just remap the god damn controls on it! But I'd recommend keyboard and mouse and try and remap the keys to something that is more responsive.
I'm loving the game but i think it'd be better with old-school RPG dice rolling combat.
I do wanna point out however that the last few videos have been very similar, talking about combat, animations, and A.I. Good video though
So naive. THEY WON'T FIX THAT. Never. Combat was like this in EACH of their previous titles. Exact same problems. Never were addressed.
i would like that they didnt just make the map on the top right just blank its quite annoying for me actualy.
Is the combat better than Gothic 3 Combat?
Turn the auto lock combat off in the difficulty settings
No one talking about the skills needed in weapons? 25hours and still the same rusty axe. Plus skills need more than 1point for 1level up.
I don't like Elex that much. Played it through though. It has some Gothic feeling, but it's way worse than Gothic. The overpowered monsters in every area were annoying and the combat system is terrible. The story wasn't as interesting as the stories in Gothic 1 and 2 as well.
so guys... who are u that u dont even take a look at the options menu? u can turn off the lock on in combat.
and u claim to caluclate everything in but still empty ur stamina bar so u cant block or dodge. u know that there will be a delay when u land with ur jetpack and u still use it without caution. id say u just dont learn from ur mistakes
this game is a ROUGH diamond glitches galore both big and small ai is in one word dumb and the combat is just bad not a hard learning curve just bad the movement is bad and enemies when they are not derping out are cheap as hell... that being said the world is REALLY cool the factions are awesome the character development is amazing and the story so far is really cool. i feel like this game would be legendary if they would've actually polished it maybe took an extra six months and ironed out all the kinks. as far as graphics and sound go meah good enough for 2007 good enough for now never believed graphics make or break a game and sound is fine maybe tone down the walking sound a little walking on sand sounds like your crushing glass in a trash compactor.
Console imports are always Bad. Those console noobs destroyed alot of good games recently. I rly wonder Why companys even work on games for playstation etc
can anybody tell me how to get to level 2 in the melee category I passed all the requirements but the trainer will not let me learn two out of three ... I'm level 16
skillywilly187 Maybe a dumb question but do you have enough elexit?
i figured it out..mybase stats were not up enough..i had boosts from neck and ring.
Agreed, target lock sucks. I also dont like the poor choice of factions. Clerics, Berserkers and outlaws are all poor choices. I hate each faction. I also would like to have real independent armor since there is a poor choice if you are unaligned. The game can be a great one but it needs work.
Combat is as fluid as mud. I still like the game in spite of it though.
The combat need some work?! have you played any PB game ever? combat is not strong with PB games... deal with it!
Never buy a game at release.....6 months at half price or less and it's fixed
I love the combat but put sprint button and sneak button in the same button on the ps4 was not smart and the delay is so bad
I live in Australia we pay 80 bucks here and it a bit of a rip
I wish the music of the game wasnt garbage compared to Gothic 3 or Risen .
Don't fix what ain't broke. U basically wanna make it skyrim. Play the game for what it is.
The biggest issue is companion ai imo, it is so dumb lol. Loving the game though!
Picked it up and played for 5 hours, but yeah the combat is off putting. Gonna try stick with it though. Seems like an interesting game otherwise.
