    Hi Rachel, I came across your video while searching for cost of living in Canada. I’ve been thinking of applying for student visa and the agency where I inquired is partnered with UCW. I’ve watched your video about that as well and it was very informative, and extremely helpful.
    I must say that you’re an excellent content creator, and a wonderful speaker (It’s a delight listening to your gentle voice.) Thank you for creating value-packed content.

    The best part time job is working 20 hrs per week for a professor doing research while studying for your degree. In some instances, the entire tuition can be waived, plus getting paid a small amount per month.

    Hey my comment was in the video! Anyway, to add, if you're a TA, the salary should be higher than $15-16 at times. It can be as high as around $33 per hour from my experience. It's usually guaranteed in the admission package for research-based grad students too (I've seen some course-based master's students working as TAs but it's a bit rare), so that's a huge perk of being a grad student if you want to get that bread.

    I'm not an international student, but I gotta say: you NEED to be asking for more than 14-15 dollars an hour. Tutors and TAs usually get paid between 25 and 30 dollars an hour in my experience (Quebec mostly, though also Ontario). It's also a bit misleading to call these high paying jobs when servers are paid below minimum wage, and most of the rest of this list are minimum wage or just above.

    • @rrdancel
      @rrdancel  Год назад +4

      Hi Tyler,
      Most international students come to Canada with manly challenges such as: language, skills, education, experience and lack of work history. Employers that are looking for part time workers tend to not pay so much as there are high turn overs in these positions.
      In terms of TA, you would have to seek have met certain academic requirements like a high GPA in order to teach other students. Again, not every international student will have met these requirements. In most provinces, servers are an exception as to the minimum wage rule as there are tips involved. These tips translates to more than the minimum wage amount.

      Oh graphic designers offer decent roles in BC and ON, so yes it’s definitely an area that you can make a career out of after grad! Just make sure to start planting your seeds (build portfolio and apply for jobs a couple months ahead before graduation, line up those eggs 🥚) hehe

    I’m coming to Kamloops Bc in December 2022 to study at TRU.

      Hi Yassin,
      This video is for international students in Canada. Given that most students will come with certain constraints such as language, skills, time, experience ...etc. So, these students will be looking for part time jobs. Most part time jobs do not pay so high. Of course there are jobs with a lot higher wage; however, those types of jobs require a certain skill set that most students don't have. I try to keep this video as practical as possible.

      Good point. I also think that if you are to do a comparison, it should be done so in relative terms. I mean, most people from less developed countries will consider Canada as a better country. People in more developed countries will consider Canada to be less desirable.
