can i ask what yarn did you use as what size the hook? i want to make for my mum about 48kg so how many chain i will start? how many chain for 1 pineapple. thanks
Hi there. I am working on this top right now and want to add longer sleeves for it. Would you recommend that I use the smaller or larger size hook for extending the sleeves. Thank you.
Vera Hrytsyuk Hi Vera, Thanks for the good question. I would crochet the first half of the sleeve using a larger size hook. For the other half of the sleeve, I'd use a smaller size hook. Happy crocheting!
Hi mam, The video was very clear and useful. I made one seeing this, which is very pretty and looking great when a girl with S size wears. Kindly advise what should i do to increase the size of the dress. Should i increase the pineapple or should i do something else?
red123828 It depends on your gauge. I would advise to use the smaller size (4.00) hook first. If with the crochet hook you won't make the desired width of your back and front parts accordingly to your chest circumference, continue with the larger size hook to make the garment wider. Happy crocheting!
Luz Baculanta Hi Luz, Thanks for the good question. For the size XL, I would work 5, 5, 3, and 3 pineapples for the back, 1st shoulder, front, and 2nd shoulder parts respectively. I'd make a foundation chain of about 155 chains (11 x 14) + 1 additional chain. Then I’d increase the number by 22 chs or from 155 to 177 chains. To do so, it is necessary to work [sc7, ch1] to end. Happy crocheting!
I was wondering what size yarn are you using and what size you are making with your videos. I like the way you let us know how to make them bigger. So I was just wondering what the size on the pattern says. I love your tops and can't wait to make them also do you have any baby projects.
Hi Rebeckah, Thanks for the comment. Hey, I love your blouse, I think it's awsome! I began to crochet it myself, and I have a question, if you can help me. I made 15 pineapples (143 + 1 stiches), how do i split them after finishing the arms (round 19)? Thanks!
Hi, I was following your pattern, on the video it says 2 dc, then you did 1 dc on ea chain,. On your instruction it say 2 dc in each chain. When you are at the end, how many sc did you do, as I couldn't quite see it
***** Hi joanne, The information about the thread and more, you may find by visiting the following page -interunet.com/crochet-a-raglan-blouse-pineapple-pattern. Happy crocheting!
Hi Jaymilly, Since it is top-down crocheting technique, I would recommend to plan how many pineapples you will have for your front and back parts accordingly to your chest circumference first. The number should be dividable by 2. Depending on your gauge, you may try to go with 6, 6, 4, and 4 pineapples for the front, back, 1st shoulder, and 2nd shoulder parts respectively or 7, 7, 5, and 5 if you will crochet tightly. Then it is necessary to make a wide foundation chain multiples of 11 chains plus 1 additional chain, but it should not fall off your shoulders. Lastly, increase the number to 221 (11 x 20) + 1 or 265 (11 x 24) + 1. Happy crocheting!
Julia Perez Hi Julia Perez, Thank you for the good question. This blouse is for the size S (interunet.com/crochet-a-raglan-blouse-pineapple-pattern). You may use my suggested number of chains if your gauge will be about the same as mine. Happy crocheting!
Roxanne Teeter Hi Roxanne, The number of needed chains for the foundation chain depends on your gauge/tension. The gauge you may adjust using a larger or smaller size crochet hook and thinner or thicker yarns. Keep in mind that when you add one PA for the back part, it is necessary to work one more PA for the front part also. In other words, the number of PAs for each part should be the same. For the 44" chest circumference, I would work 10 pineapples (PA) or 5 and 5 PAs for each front and back parts. My calculation, if for 35" I need 8 PAs (my project) then for 44" it is necessary to work 10 PAs or (44 x 8) / 35 = 10 PAs. For each shoulder part, I would crochet 3 PA. I'd make a foundation chain of about 155 chains (11 x 14) + 1 additional chain. I count all the chains including the chain on a hook. Then I’d increase the number by 22 chs or from 155 to 177 chains. So, 1st round - [sc7, ch1] to end. 2nd and all other rounds, work the same way (interunet.com/crochet-a-raglan-blouse-pineapple-pattern). Happy crocheting!

Geeta Vernekar Hi Geeta Vernekar, I'm glad that you liked the blouse and plan to make one. For the 36" chest circumference, do everything as the pattern requires (interunet.com/crochet-a-raglan-blouse-pineapple-pattern), assuming that you'll have the same gauge/tension as I had. Happy crocheting!
Hi, I'm on the 9th round and I'm confuse about the written pattern on the 9th round, I think it's missing sc1, but I watch the video on 44.18 you did sc1. Please advise. Thanks.
Hi Luz, Thank you for spotting my mistake. I actually did not write more than just sc1 - after sk4 should be sc1, ch2, sk4. I already corrected it in the written instruction. Thanks again.

Gena Pasao I would advise to start with the same number of chains and crochet with the larger size hook first depending on how loosely you want this blouse to fit on her. However, it will depend on your gauge, yarn, hook, etc..
I like to make this top in a larger size but I don't know how to start. I never made a top before so kind of a newbie. I need at least a size L to XL. I'm not a small girl :p How many chains and pineapples do I need to add for that?

Hi, I'm a little bit confuse on the 13th rounds, I know you said after the twelve rounds will repeat 3rd round. And I watch the video on your 3rd round and follow it...but when I reach the tr6 then my trouble appear. The tr6 should be in between the chain of 8dc right. It seems like something wrong when I follow the written pattern and the video. Is there another sc before the dc2? Please advise.Thanks.
Hi Luz, Yes, the tr6 should be on one chain between the 8 dc and No, there is no another sc1 before the dc2 on one chain. There is just one sc. I assume maybe there is a problem with your 12th round. Check it thoroughly. Please write me what your first 20 chains of the 12th round are. That will give me some ideas where you are at. Thank you.
Hi, Im on the 11th round and need to change to a bigger hook. I used F hook from the beginning till the 10th round, please advise can I use H hook or 7 hook. Thank you.
Hi Luz, It is hard for me to advise because you use different yarn and your gauge is not the same as mine either. So, I would suggest using the 7 (4.5 mm) first. If later on you notice that you're still not getting the needed width of the garment then switch to the large size hook. Please let me know if you'll have problems with the 12th round. Happy crochet!
Hi, I send you a message last week that I bought the yarn bernat cooton ish, I guess you did not read yet, that's why :). It's better the right yarn than I used before. I follow exactly what you told me to chain 177 in the beginning, so far so good.I hope i can continue till the end, for me this is not easy .I think you are right I can try the 4.5mm first because right now I tried to put on it look like its bigger on my neck. Thanks.
Luz Baculanta Hi Luz, Yes, you're right. I did not see your message, otherwise I'd reply something. And yes, it is not the easiest pattern, but if you could repeat the pattern once, then you'll be able to continue it to the end. As I wrote earlier, try the smaller size crochet hook first especially if you use the thinner yarn. Blessings.
Hi, Yes so far this is the pattern that I'm doing for almost 2 weeks now... it is a challenge for me :). So far so good since I started the right yarn. No miscounted stiches yet lol. Thank you again of answering all my questions.
Hi Love all your tops! But do you have and tops done with #5 or #10 thread? That is all I can get here where I live, different than yarn, which is too warm to wear here. Thank you!
Judith Richardson Hi Judith, You may use a different yarn for this pattern, but it will be necessary to plan ahead how many pineapples you'll need accordingly to your chest circumference and gauge. Happy crocheting!
I would like to make this blouse again but bigger this time. However I find it a little weird.. You said make chains multiple of 11 + 1 chain for the starting neckline area. However in the first round where we need to increase by doing 6 sc + 1 chain.. When I reached the end.. I cannot do 6 sc as I don't have enough chains. Then I'm wondering if I increase the number of starting chains, do I still sc 6 or?
Lydia Chai Hi Lydia Chai, The number I used for the foundation chain is dividable by 11 and 6 (132 / 11 = 12 repeats and 132 / 6 = 22 chains or 2 repeats = 22 / 11). If you add more pineapples/repeats, make sure that the number of pineapples are even otherwise it won't be possible to split it to back, front and 2 shoulder pieces. If you use a different number of chains, it is necessary to make about even intervals between each increase. Happy crocheting!
It's because she counts the loop on her hook as a stitch. most crochet patterns do not count the loop on the hook as a stitch. This is the first time I seen a pattern that counts the loop as a stitch
Judy Jackson To make a bigger size, you need to know your gauge or adjust your tension to mine and estimate how many pineapples you need accordingly to the needed chest circumference (@crochet-a-raglan-blouse-pineapple-pattern). For example, for the size US 6, I needed 8 pineapples. So, I worked 4 pineapples for each front and back parts. Happy crocheting!
Shobi Babu Hi Shobi Babu, Yes, you may increase the pattern to the medium size. It depends on your gauge/tension. I would advise you to start with the same number of chains as I did and then few rounds before you need to join the front and back parts together, measure one pineapple and determine whether 8 pineapples will make your chest circumference or not. If not, you should switch to even larger size crochet hook. In other words, it is necessary to adjust your gauge with different crochet hooks sizes. For the medium size, I would not advise to add more pineapples unless you will use much thinner yarn than I used for the project. Happy crocheting!
I was always thought that the first loop on o the hook never counts as your first chain. But here, you count it as your first chain: its a little confusing to me
Judith Richardson I do count all the chains, that way is easier for me to keep track of them. You may do as you used to as long as you can crochet the pattern properly (interunet.com/crochet-a-raglan-blouse-pineapple-pattern). Happy crocheting!
anis hidayah Hi anis hidayah, Thanks for the good question. For more information about the project, please visit interunet.com/crochet-a-raglan-blouse-pineapple-pattern. Happy crocheting!
Oh no, I have trouble again ....I can't get it right the 13th round. I know you ask me on your previous message what is my 20 chains of the 12th round are... ch3, dc1, ch2, sk4, (sc1, ch3, sk3) x 2, sc1, ch2, sk4, dc2 on 1ch., dc2, ch1, dc2, [dc2 on 1ch., ch2, sk4,. When I reach on the 13th round the tr6 it doesn't go to the I chain on the 8dc, there's some extra chains before the dc2. I hope you understand. I watch the video on the 12th rounds, I followed then when I start 13th round then I have problem.
Luz Baculanta I reviewed the pattern again and found that the 13th round is similar to the 3rd round, but not identical. In the 2nd round I did the increase, but in the 12th round I did not increase chains. That's what make the difference. In the 13th round, you need to skip 4 chains instead of 3 and skip 3 chs between two single crochet chains. I apologize for the confusion. Please let me know if that works for you. Thank you.
Now it make sense... that's why I keep repeating to watch the video on 3rd round. I thought I missing something. Now I can continue. Thank you for your patience.
Hi nikita roy, Please visit this webpage interunet.com/crochet-a-raglan-blouse-pineapple-pattern for more info about the project. For the size M, I would adjust the gauge using a larger size crochet hook or thicker yarn. The other option is to add one pineapple/repeat to the front and back parts. Happy crochet!
Luz Baculanta Hi Luz, I thought that you were planning to use the F size hook instead of the G one, but if you are going to start with the F hook, it might be necessary to crochet very tightly first several rounds. For my size, I worked increases in the first two rounds and then crocheted the 14 pineapples (4, 4, 3, and 3 pineapples for the front, back, 1st shoulder, and 2nd shoulder parts respectively). After that I used a larger size hook which helped me to widen the garment even more. In your case, I would work 6, 6, 4, and 4 pineapples for the all 4 parts respectively. So, I'd make a foundation chain of about 177 chains (11 x 16) + 1 additional chain. Then I’d increase the number from 177 to 221 chains. To do so, it is necessary to work [sc4, ch1] to end. If desired, you might work the increase more gradually, just work more single crochet rounds. Happy crocheting!
I started my foundation chains of 177 with the F hook but I notice that it looklike too big. Is it suppose to be fit around the neck. I need your advise before I go on, this is my first time to do the pineapple stich. Thanks.
Hi Luz, Yes, the weight of the yarn plays an important role, and all my previous calculations cannot be applied using this kind of yarn. The foundation chain should be wide, but when you join it into a ring, it should not fall off your shoulders. In addition, do not forget that the number of chains should be dividable by 11 plus 1 additional chain.
Could somebody out there please make a tutorial vid of how to make a pineapple stitch cardigan (short or long sleeved?) I would be forever greatful!!! (:

Hi Julia Perez,
Thank you for the good question. This blouse is for the size S (interunet.com/crochet-a-raglan-blouse-pineapple-pattern). You may use my suggested number of chains if your gauge will be about the same as mine. Happy crocheting!
Hi there,Love the pattern, If I were to make a XXL size what would the foundation be and pattern sequence from there??? Thank you!!
Roxanne Teeter
Hi Roxanne,
The number of needed chains for the foundation chain depends on your gauge/tension.

Yes, the tr6 should be on one chain between the 8 dc and No, there is no another sc1 before the dc2 on one chain. There is just one sc. I assume maybe there is a problem with your 12th round. Check it thoroughly. Please write me what your first 20 chains of the 12th round are. That will give me some ideas where you are at. Thank you.
Hi, I have to frag my 12th rounds and do it again and let you know as soon as I finish .
Hi, Im on the 11th round and need to change to a bigger hook. I used F hook from the beginning till the 10th round, please advise can I use H hook or 7 hook. Thank you.
Hi Luz,
It is hard for me to advise because you use different yarn and your gauge is not the same as mine either.
Thanks.
Luz Baculanta
Hi Luz,
Yes, you're right.
Thank you!
Judith Richardson
Hi Judith,
You may use a different yarn for this pattern, but it will be necessary to plan ahead how many pineapples you'll need accordingly to your chest circumference and gauge. Happy crocheting!
podria alguien hacer este tutorial en español?, gracias,
Hi if u follow the link to the written pattern it also has Spanish translation.
Lydia Chai
Hi Lydia Chai,
The number I used for the foundation chain is dividable by 11 and 6 (132 / 11 = 12 repeats and 132 / 6 = 22 chains or 2 repeats = 22 / 11).
What she is calling an increase isn't she is doing 6sc ch1 6sc, around
Chokran
I would like to know what size this is for? and also how can i make it for a bigger size, how would i adjust the size even for a plus size??
Judy Jackson
To make a bigger size, you need to know your gauge or adjust
your tension to mine and estimate how many pineapples you need accordingly to
the needed chest circumference (@crochet-a-raglan-blouse-pineapple-pattern).
For example, for the size US 6, I needed 8 pineapples. So, I worked 4 pineapples
for each front and back parts. Happy crocheting!
hi Judy. did u succeed to adjust it to plus size as I have same problem. I like the shirt but I don't know how to adjust it for my size.
nope. im not that good at knitting
no problem. I think we are in the same boat. anyway if I find a way I will let you know. wish me luck.
i hv started with 155 ch
Very pretty...How can I increase the size to medium?
Shobi Babu
Hi Shobi Babu,
Yes, you may increase the pattern to the medium size.

But here, you count it as your first chain: its a little confusing to me
Judith Richardson
I do count all the chains, that way is easier for me to keep track of them. You may do as you used to as long as you can crochet the pattern properly (interunet.com/crochet-a-raglan-blouse-pineapple-pattern). Happy crocheting!

Thank's ....
bellissima maglietta peccato x la lingua non capisco almeno mettevi i cm o il numero delle catenelle ,spero di capire ...grazie .
Luz Baculanta
I reviewed the pattern again and found that the 13th round is similar to the 3rd round, but not identical.
Luz Baculanta
Thank you for the reply.
How many grams of thread needed for this pineapple stitch blouse? A medium size
Hi nikita roy,
Please visit this webpage interunet.com/crochet-a-raglan-blouse-pineapple-pattern for more info about the project. For the size M, I would adjust the gauge using a larger size crochet hook or thicker yarn. The other option is to add one pineapple/repeat to the front and back parts. Happy crochet!
hi how much of the chain do you do you didn't state how much of the chain to make
Hi joanne currie,
Please watch the video again starting from about 0:21. Happy crochet!

Hola Maria del Carmen Rosas Jaimes,
No hablo español, pero hacer un gráfico a ganchillo. Gracias por el comentario.
Is it ok to use bigger hook? The one I have is 3.75 mm. Thanks.
Yes, you may use the F size crochet hook.
Can I ask you how many foundation chains if I use F size hook? Thanks for replying with my questions all the time.
Luz Baculanta Hi Luz,
I thought that you were planning to use the F size hook instead of the G one, but if you are going to start with the F hook, it might be necessary to crochet very tightly first several rounds.
Thanks.
Hi Luz,
Yes, the weight of the yarn plays an important role, and all my previous calculations cannot be applied using this kind of yarn. The foundation chain should be wide, but when you join it into a ring, it should not fall off your shoulders. In addition, do not forget that the number of chains should be dividable by 11 plus 1 additional chain.
Very nice videos thanks
