You’re forgetting the part where he blamed Lucifer for Charlotte’s death and tried to have him killed, or the time he manipulated Chloe into thinking she was crazy about Palmetto, or the time he shot Lucifer and conspired with Michael. The list goes on.
My only flaw, and it is hard to think about in the moment, is that each of the people who said it meant nothing had time in between and a build up. So he would've had to have his face fall for each time.
