    I think Jessi Lee is talking about Colposcopy, which is a procedure done to look at the cervix, usually done whenever there is an abnormal Pap result. Colonoscopy, like CC mentioned, takes a look at the colon and absolutely crucial for early detection of colon cancers!

    • @kait3863
      @kait3863 2 года назад +7

      Yep! During a colpo, the dr. looks at your cervix. They *might* take a biopsy if something doesn't look right, but the colpo itself is just an examination. So, Jessi Lee is *what a surprise* spreading some misinformation here 😕

    • @MegaChadAnakin

      and knowing that colon cancer is a very nasty one makes me even more mad

    • @auntielu8531
      @auntielu8531 2 года назад

      Colposcopy is also non-invasive, it's just a camera inserted into the vagina, sometimes inside the uterus too. It sounds like she was talking about cervical biopsy, which is only done after abnormalities were already found in a pap smear. And a pap smear is less invasive that biting your cheek, which happens to me every other week. So basically, she's talking out of her ass about a *matter of life and death*. Disgusting.

    My wife had gastric sleeve surgery 5 years ago which means they basically cut a piece of her stomach off making a smaller stomach. She can only eat about 1/2-3/4 a cup of food at a time (every 2-3 hours). She has to take a bunch of vitamins that are doctor recommended because her body doesn’t absorb like other people. Keywords: DOCTOR RECOMMENDED - positive side it has helped her lose 205 pounds! (5’2” from 410 pounds to 205 pounds) That’s probably what she was referring to.

Hopefully next year he will get his skin removal surgery if he loses 10 more pounds🤞 Very thankful for his doctors (and therapists)! SO im making appointments for mammos and the gene test and already considering puling an angelina jolie and yeeting the teets preemptively if it begins to look like a matter of time before i get it too. As someone with health anxiety it absolutely flabbergasts me how people can be so blase about CANCER of all things. Like, arent you scared??? Are you not nervous at all? I simply do not understand.

      Similarly, my dad found out in May through a reccomended routine exam that he has cancer as well. Prostate though. Its such a miracle he even went in because he also has medical anxiety, but in a way that he worries about it so much that he doesn't want to go because he thinks there's something wrong and he doesn't want to hear it confirmed. I'm embarrassed to admit I have that issue too, and breast cancer also runs in my family- it's so weird; I value science and medicine so much. I respect doctors. I know getting a physical and all the different annual exams is your best chance to catch something while its in its early development while you can do something about it. And I *know* not making the appointments only makes things worse/prolongs the stressing/ is super dangerous/isn't logical- But its like a flight response wired into my instincts & sometimes is more powerful then my logic or reason or actual beliefs. It's so bizarre. But my therapist is working with me so I can quit that counterproductive nonsense.

    I love the idea of body neutrality. More people need to be happy that their body does what they need it to do regardless of what it looks like. Work to make your body work better for you, not to meet expectations of appearance. After all, age comes for us all. This is especially important when you are physically disabled and struggle daily. I want healthy people to appreciate their healthy, working bodies. I wasn’t blessed with that and I’ll most likely be overweight for my whole life but I go to physical therapy, eat healthy and try to appreciate what I do have.

      Yes! I understand that everyone, including myself can't always shut off the comparisons our mind forces us to make when it comes to any part of our bodies. But the day I started being thankful for a healthy body and making the choice to do my best to keep it that way by changing some eating habits(not all cause I'm convinced I would jot function without lots and lots of pasta and sweets lol) and being active I also became more happy with what was on the outside.

    Ohhh Chelsea!!! I had a fibroadenoma removed when I was 13 and in 9th grade. That's where my scar is too but it's not really noticable to me. It was golf ball sized. And the weather realllllllly effs with it and I'm 40 😳! I have one lump still and that I have to get ultrasounded, etc every 6 months. Birth control helps keep the size down. It's so cool (maybe not cool?🤷🏻‍♀️) that u went thru the same thing as me! I've never met anyone who went thru it until now. Okay byeeeee

    Cancer survivor here and it pisses me off. Early detention is key in order to prevent it from spreading causing even more treatment. 🤦‍♀️ I had kidney cancer my only symptom was back pain and I only learned that it was a symptom AFTER the cancer was removed. At that point it was trying to get major arteries so it could grow faster.

    Hi! Biologist here (I work in biomedical research for a university), and yeah that’s not how collagen works. When you ingest something, it gets completely broken down into your stomach/small intestine into its building blocks, which for proteins are called amino acids. Yes you’re putting more of the amino acids that make up collagen into your body, but once it’s all broken down, those building blocks will just go wherever they’re needed for absolutely anything in your body. They are not “specially marked” to reform collagen and go to the areas where you want. There’s really just no way for the body to do that. Hopefully that made sense!

    On the JLW post, they were asking about a colPoscopy which is a procedure where they go in and scrape or take a piece of your cervix in order to send it off for testing. So she knew the procedure but still said some crazy stuff. For anyone reading, coming from someone who worked emergency medicine for 5+ years- if your provider thinks you need a colposcopy, then you REALLY need it. Please get it done to ensure you are cancer free. And it is a painful procedure so ask for a sedative. Don’t take advice from people like Jesse Lee bc it could be life or death.

    My husband had the gastric sleeve surgery 6 years ago and he stuck with the plan so his stomach is still very small. He eats about a 1/4 cup at a time (servers are always asking us if the food was okay which gets old fast). To stay healthy he takes way more vitamins than I do. But I do NOT think an MLM is going to be helpful though…I get all his vitamins on amazon or at the pharmacy.

    I’ve been a mammographer for 15y and when you’re of age to get yearly mammograms, just be sure to get them! Ultrasound is great if they’re just wanting to follow up cysts and fibroadenomas (I’ve had one biopsied in each breast), BUT there are types of breast cancer that is completely undetectable with ultrasound, which is why mammograms are still the best way to screen yearly for breast cancer. Also, with your family history and fibrocystic breast tissue, make sure (if you haven’t already), check with your doctor about breast MRI. That sounds as if it’d also be of benefit to you at some point. Love you Chelsea! ❤❤❤

    For the Q sciences vitamin girl - Vitamin D primarily comes from being in the sun and conversion by the body. You can also develop Vitamin D toxicity from taking too much exogenous supplement as well since it is fat soluble so you can take too much. Agree with her taking the B12 incorrectly, but no you aren’t going to get an “energy boost” after taking it. If you aren’t deficient you are basically going to create expensive urine. Thanks for another great video!
