Hell, Captain, I thought maybe your pipes were rusted from all the salty air.. Good luck on surgery..😎🍻
I knew it! I knew it, Captain Rick. I too have been diagnosed with a very large esophageal hiatal hernia. Went through all the tests to verify surgery as a repair, esophageal manometry procedure, barium swallow test, endoscopy & CT scan. I just had the repair surgery via da Vinci laparoscopic surgery. (Nissen fundoplication). They did the Toupet which is now the gold standard. I had the surgery 4 weeks ago, with 6 holes in my tummy. All went well, I had very little discomfort and am now on regular food. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. And my wife is a retired cardiology RN and knows all about your heart hole. I knew or felt very strongly that GERD was your issue with your voice. Thanks for posting. Greetings from the Old Jarhead in WNC.
Get well Captain!

Good to hear that Ricks voice problem is being solved. Fingers crossed all goes well.
Hello Captain Rick. After your surgery just try not to talk and let it heal I had problems with my esophagus I stripped it out 2 times I was in the emergency room for a week and I did a procedure with a needle and a hose to siphon out extra fluids in my belly found out I had internal bleeding I had to get for blood transfusions in a week and I got the internal bleeding taking care of so thank God for that. My esophagus was not doing too good because I always eating spicy foods fatty foods. So now I'm on a strict diet anyways take care and hopefully you heal fast after your surgery God bless you and your family stay safe❤
So when are you going to invite me to your boat ? lol and WOW i loved the tall ship with all the sailors on the missins.
Captain Rick, thank you for updating us! We assumed that it had to do with your voice, and why we hadn’t seen you. We aren’t surprised of this news, but hopeful that the surgery is a success, and you don’t have to deal with this craziness of the hernia and the voice slowing you guys down from your life experiences!. Thank you for showing us all the pomp and circumstance with the Independence Day parade boy is Lil Ricky, handsome and cute and the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree! He’s the spitting image of you, my friend and of course beautiful Madalena
❤ continued prayer for healing.
Glad to know your voice is not cancer-driven and can be recovered. Hang tough, Rick!
Rob R
Take care captain .
put your toys down and give us the real srory.we are are here for you.
I'll ask for health in my prayers
You didn't mention TIKI so I assume you didn't find him/her
Good luck with a surgery I'm sure you don't need it. Try having some honey thick cloudy honey half a teaspoon five times a day and before bed, honey helps with inflammation and infection its second to none. And acid medication doesn't really work it works for a short time but then the stomach produces more acid to overcome the pH in balance by taking antacid medication
Your better off taking cider vinegar a dessert spoon in half a cup of water twice a day and the biggest problems after a meal have pure squeezed or blended lemon juice and the pith and skin. I have a hiatus hernia but I don't get any problems from it, because my diet is very acidic. Have sour food as well good luck!!

captain, it's a pleasure to see you again, take care of yourself and your family and your family from you tube ester Amos waiting for you Blessings 💙😘💙😘💙😘💙
Welcome back. I am so sorry to hear about your hiatal hernia. I've had the surgery , about 15 yrs ago. The surgery is not fun but BOY do you feel better after. I was about 65 at time of surgery. I had to have mesh installed to insure a good outcome and mine was big too, I could not burp , vomit or eat more than about a cup at a time. Now things are going well. I'm on meds for heartburn in stomach as I am a super secreter of acid. It's geat to be good at something! Best wishes for a safe time in hospital and a speedy recovery. Small changes in diet help too, coffee, cafeine and tomatoes ,uncooked, that still bother me. I can live without them........mostly! Keep us as informed as you are comfortable.
Glad to hear that it was not something more serious, our prayers are with you Rick. 🙏❤

Fresh water Rinse layup and Emergency Bilge Pump.
On Starlight 1989 Beneteau Oceanis 350 has a Volvo Penta engine M2003 28hp anyway I was the second owner, so after I purchased the boat I was doing the shakedown cruise and ran the engine for about an hour and the overheated alarm went off , could not find a problem, cutting too the chase lots of growth and calcification of the tubes in the heat exchanger. Had too take the entire unit clean it and put it back, never wanted to do that again figured was not the use rather the extended, layup with saltwater, also the corrosion factor of the elbow, had to replace that. So as a solution I cam up with this manifold I constructed with brass and bronze fittings and ball valves for each connection, from the thru hull , to the manifold, ball on the thru hull and on the manifold did the same at the on end valve to the sea strainer to the engine, next thru hull, pressure fresh water, and at the other end again valve to a run to the bilge.
This allows me to turn on the fresh water, backwash the thru hull, then shutoff and run the engine for 2 minutes on fresh water before shutting down the engine for the night or an extended time. It also in the final configuration allows me to bring to bear as an emergency pump, on my main bilge the engine, if there is a major leak in the boat that bilge pumps cannot handle for whatever reason, (lightning strikes) etc. I often use the fresh water system when she is on the hard, and I need to run the engine, like changing oil, etc. I have 100 gallons of water on Starlight, you should see the looks I get in the yard with no hose, on the hard, yet engine running and water from the exhaust and prop shaft running out. In 20 years have not had any overheating issues or had to deal with the heat exchanger or the elbow, which is notorious on Volvos..
San Andreas is great I am sure all of your Videos there have increased its tourism..
Welcome back🙏🏼🙏🏼🌴❤️
Thanks!
Wishing you all the very best from the Eastern Med. Sail Safe Guys, Ant & Cid.
