You’re gonna need a lot more training than that, plus the knowledge and tools on how to build one, a hanger or large place to do it, the time, and anywhere from a hundred to a hundred seventy five thousand dollars + all thanks to RUclips getting millions of people wanting to do this now. Oh and you’ll need a RUclips channel, nobody does anything without a RUclips channel these days. Have fun. 🤦♂
I guess you read a lot more into my comment than stated. I earned my PPL 17 years ago flying a tail wheel Cessna 140. Have been in various partnerships in planes like a Cessna 182. Have had other backcountry training in the past. My Highlander build over the last 4 years have been a joy. Doing all my own work is keeping it under 80K. 10 hrs of transition training for insurance purposes. Cheers.
Tony, great video! I also did my tailwheel with Vic in the highlander. Can't get enough of flying this thing. Welcome to the club and I look forward to seeing you in Brasstown this summer.
HAD NEVER HEARD OF A STOL PLANE....GREAT VID, AS ALWAYS....NICE DRONE FOOTAGE AT THE BEGINNING AS WELL....WANTED TO WISH YOU, YOUR WIFE AND FAMILY, A GREAT THANKSGIVING AS WELL!!
We used to play with side slips and short field grass landing at the glider port where we used the super cub for our tow plane. They are not STOL aircraft but pretty darn close once you get the feel for them. Nice Job Tony. I imagine Keli is anxious to get behind the controls.
Boy, what a "Trip". I am envious of what you are going to be enjoying with that plane. I ended up in ultralights to be able to have more fun flying without so many rules but you will be able to go so much farther with that wonderful plane. Take care, jack
“Have you dreamed of flying STOL airplanes ?” Thanks to RUclips I think millions of people dream of it, and it’s also why the price of tail draggers is through the roof now. 🤦♂
Awesome plane and cool video. Have you thought about changing the blinding red glare shield? It’s distracting in the video, I can’t imagine it in person.
What kind of plane is that? What motor is in it? Interesting. I used to fly a Zodiac 601, which is the low wing version of the 701 or 750. Still have the Baron I hope.
Hi Pete, the airplane is a Highlander by Just Aircraft. I’m really enjoying it and yes I still have the Baron, never plan to sell it. Hope we can catch up one day soon at an airport near by. Safe travels!!!
Vic is a pleasant instructor, he provided me with 10 hours of superb training, preparing me for my first flight in my Highlander.

So excited to see dads plane flying! I knew you were the right person for it and I couldn’t be more pleased! We’ll done!!
Thank you Angie for the kind words. I’m sure your dad would be very proud of the airplane he built! I love flying it.
I got my tailwheel endorsement and Highlander checkout from Vic. He sure is fun to fly with, and a great teacher! Enjoy your new bird!
I enjoyed my training with Vic! Thank you for sharing...

Thanks for sharing Preston. You are right, Keli is wanting to fly the Highlander. I have a few more hours before she can come along...

Which simpson harness are you running? That's an awesome idea and I totally plan to copy it for my SuperStol!
Ordered directly from Simpson...aviation belts.

Excellent Flying for the examiner. 5/24/2022yr
After you get finish up go get into a Maule
