This was a Saturday night institution in our house when I was a kid in the 90s. Saturday tele was stunning! I only started going out rather than watch tele when I discovered girls and drinking in about 98!!!
@blank-dr2kx brilliant. You Bet was ace and Gladiators was just the best. We used to be allowed a treat sometimes and have a Chinese and sit and eat it whilst watching Noel's House Party or something like that. Saturday night used to start at the end of Final Score and then it was Big Break or Baywatch or one of those sorts of programs. Heaven.
Sadly for me this is serious car porn. Put me in that car park I would have a seizure after spending the moments beforehand going "and I want that car and that one, and that one over there". Really don't care what anyone else thinks.. those machines are my idea of cars :-)
Anybody else notice the skidmarks on the ground BEFORE the car reached that area (the same kind of thing you see on Ken Block videos these days)? Also Russ taking an obvious wrong turn for the centre when he knew the exit was at a side? I'm guessing he already knew his way around the maze put in a few deliberate "mistakes" to keep the time close and the challenge interesting... XD No disrespect to him! The point of YouBet is if the celebs can predict if he'll make it or not. Not if the challenge can be completed. Challenges were also occasionally sabotaged. Frisbee golf targets being moved further apart to stitch up Pat Sharp for example. ruclips.net/video/yOfDk3KVAbg/видео.html

The absolute peak of Rovers fortunes in this year and the next few
Alan partridge kept them alive
After this show went out The RAC reported a 100% increase in snapped handbrake cables !
Im surprised the engine and gearbox survived that challenge lol well done russ
Bring back you bet the show
you'll be glad to know there is a reboot coming in autumn.
In the introduction he said that practices had taken place using a different set up!! That is where the skid marks came from...
Anyone know where the full episode featuring the gorgeous Michaela Strachan is please?
Very good as anyone who has driven a rover know's the poxy reverse is well know for popping back out. But miss the old buggers.
Saturday 12th March 1994
I remember watching this way back when......, bet the old Rover needed a head gasket after that lol.
I don't think these older ones were that bad from head gasket failure, this was when rover had money.
Russ Swift Says " Rover 400 for sale one careful owner"
22nd October 1993
I don't see any marks, this programme was brilliant, the challenges were, when Saturday night tv was great (or any night for that matter even Sunday)
1:40 - Absolutely geniune, not edited at all, nope nope. No sir...... Also, isn't it weird how all the cars are Rovers?
not really rover sponsored this, and was right into moto sports back then.
Well he had recently done the driving in an advert for their sister brand, Austin. Advertising the Montego.
In a front wheel drive car as well!!!...well I am assuming that it is front wheel drive.
Edited definitely. As sometimes the ground was soaking wet sometimes partly dry.
With Russ's skills I'm not sure why he didn't make Rally Champion?
Pretty sure he did some rallying in the past, I know the car was crap but imagine Ken block doing this he would of done it in about 30 seconds lmao
Is this clip from series 7 of You Bet?
Not enough rovers let alone identical ones left to re do this
Rover 400 for sale. One careful owner 🤣
The agency lads at Nissan should do this challenge

Skid marks could have been from practice sessions.
@@darrennash353 Exactly my point. He already knew the route and was "putting on a show" rather than actually figuring out the maze. :)
