I can't believe I've been polishing my nails for decades & never saw this proper technique in a magazine or somewhere. It's so simple, but it changes everything. It's no wonder I always had so many problems with brush strokes & creme polishes.
That makes me happy for you :) Thank you I appreciate your feedback. If you get a chance to share some of my videos so others can find me I would appreciate it very much.
i know this video is older but I just saw it tonight and my tip (in return for your wonderful help) is that if you tap your screen while in camera mode it will set your focus. Now, if you tap+hold the selection it will lock the white balance AND focus area. That way it doesnt want to re-focus when your other hand comes closer to the lens. The iphone also has pre-loaded filters in camera mode. :)
Thank you Thank you.... You saved me 😘.... This tutorial is well taught and i learned how to correctly polish my nails now... I must bow down to you.... Sincerely Tanja
I been blaming the polish and kept throwing em away and buying new ones only to end up with raggedy looking nails hahaha whole time I’m polishing them wrong smh
Wish someone like you shared this type of knowledge years ago. Started doing three coats because it seemed best like you mention but the angle I've been getting wrong. Thanks for the advice.
This really helped! Thank you. I couldn't figure out why this happens. Thank you for explaining not only how to do it, but showing what I have been doing wrong.
At 2:32: What you describe as fanning the bristles I'll never forget as splaying the brush. It was something I learned from a Paula Begoun makeup instruction book, where she said never to do that when applying cosmetics. Anyway, I have to live with streaky nails until this weekend when I can redo them per your instructions. Thanks for sharing your expertise!
Thank you so much for that video .. i tried my best to avoid those lines and i never knew the apropiate amount of nail polish that i should be putting on a nail .. so when it dries with strokes on it i just wipe it off and repeat it as many time as i can until i have the perfect shape .. it was taking a loooot of time and focus . But now u just made it look so simple .. thank you for sharing this
Thank you for such wonderful videos! I just tried this technique with my at home mani pedi. GAME CHANGER! My polish lasted & lasted without constantly reapplying top coat every other day. 🎉🎊
Hi! I know this video is not so recent, but I really wanted to thank you for posting it! I was starting to doubt my capacity to paint my nails because i was always flooding my skin and then ruining them trying to clean up. Even though your video wasnt specifically meant to teach how to paint within the lines, I took your advice about the amount of polish and how to do the strokes, and it's working perfect! I tried it already 3 times and I barely have to clean up anymore. I seriously can't believe it! Thank you soooo so so much!! You are great!! You've made my day! :)
Thank you that's helped me a lot as I've bitten my nails for 60 years, and have stopped now, trying to paint my nails myself but hard as have never learned, so at 66 a bit of a trial, I find I do better with glitter polishes and it lasts longer, I'll try this method with that! 🌹
I can't wait to try this! I love the look of light polishes, but they always look so streaky and awful when I apply them. Apparently, I've been painting my nails incorrectly for the past 20 years lol
Thank you...fanning the brush and the angle of the brush has solved my painting issues. This is the only video thay I have found that teaches the technique for light polish.
Thank you so much for these tips! I got really discouraged and wanted to throw away my light polishes, but yesterday I used your method and tips and got a very good and glossy coverage. Although It took me like 4 or 5 layers to lose transparency, but they dried fast and there were no streaks or bubbles. Thank you for your help!
I can't believe I was always using heavy polish on my brush! I would get bubbling my polish was always thick and would chip fast. I would get brush stroke lines on every nail. When I seen you paint a nail saying use very little and then the nails were dying so fast I was like( wHaT sORCeRy is this) 😂😂 The more you know now I don't have to wait 48 hours for my polish too dry with prints from my sheets. Thank you!!!
Thank you so much for explaining this so well. I just bought the shade Ballerina from Chanel, and my first application is terrible! I’m looking forward to trying your method.
Never put nail polish remover in it! It'll evaporate and gum up your polish. You can get nail polish thinner at any beauty supply store and it's cheap. I have that problem as well, even with brand new high quality (OPI and up) polishes
@@queenizzy01 use a 3-4 drops of methylated spirits to thin nail polish- it really works I learnt that when I was about 16. A lot of people poo-hoo doing it but try it it does thin your nail polish beautifully!
Thankyou thankyou thankyou mama... I have a beautiful OPI light nail color that i love but i never wear it because of the brush strokes thank you again
Thanks for sharing these tips! I always know I'm bad for the streaks and I always thought there must be something wrong about my 'handicapped' hands without knowing what did I did wrong these years and kept giving up and just ask my mum to help me with it LMAO Many thanks again
I’ve been using your technique but I find it’s getting tacky and possibly picking up the polish underneath and thickening up the bottle? The nail polish I use is Mavala which has really small brushes, so I don’t know if that’s possibly an issue?
The Meticulous Manicurist Nail Tutorials I’ve been trying to. It’s a hard balance between enough polish to coat the nail and not enough that I run out and it just drags 😫
Wow 😍 this is amazing. Thank you for explaining this in depth about the angles and the bit about painting a room and the paint peeling off. I'm a visual person and that really helped me grasp the concept. QUESTION: does it matter if we finish the whole hand while the individual nails dry(between coats)? Like 5 nails, one coat each. Circle back to the first nail and start second coats.
Tfs. Does this also apply to white gel polish? I like to use white as a background color for stamping, but I always end up with streaks in the white gel polish.
I always used 2 coats so I was wondering why are the light colours which i recently bought were thin and needed to put 3 coats...you explained that it happens w light colours so thanks for this! Edit: ughhh I wish I'd see this video before I painted my nails today!!
I am happy I your found tutorial since I was putting some pale polish on just now and it looked awful. I thought wait, lets do a search and yours was the best. Finally after years of disappointing results I have the perfect technique. Thank you........thank you!
You may have covered this already but how do you stop lines in metallic polish? The best I can do is to get the lines straight. Also, I'm an amateur and have considered taking nail training because I love doing my nails. I'd love a video about what starting out in the business is like. Here in Kentucky (Louisville) the schools require a full cosmetology degree and won't allow just esthetics and nail technician training. I've got a very bad back (19 years in healthcare) and I cannot stand for prolonged periods so that pretty much puts a complete degree out of the realm of possibilities. I love your videos because you give proper technique. I'd love to hear more about the business side of things also. It's not covered enough.
Laura Klinglesmith I’ve heard that if you first use a matte top and then a shiny top coat that it sort of disguises the lines. I think I saw a video and it did appear to work but I’ve never tried it.
You're the 1st one I've came across that not only mentions correct polishing methods but, does an entire video on it. Awesome mama!
I've been wondering about this for 40 years. Bless your heart

5 years later this is still helpful. I've been polishing wrong. Lol. Thank you for this video! I will be doing this from here on out.
Whoop whoop!
I have been doing it the wrong way. I stopped using light colors because of the streaks. This really helped me!
I tried your tips, and my manicure came out significantly better. You are a very good teacher! Thank you!
That makes me happy for you :) Thank you I appreciate your feedback. If you get a chance to share some of my videos so others can find me I would appreciate it very much.
I will, thank you for the reply!
I have watched hundreds of videos and yours was the ONLY tip that worked! Thank you!
Thank you. I have mostly avoided pastels because of this. Can't wait to try now.

Happy to help.
Ty! I've been obsessed recently with doing my own nails and I'm getting pretty good but always avoid light colors because they look streaky
I cannot believe how much this helped. Thank you so much!
Ita been 6 years still this video is better than what i saw yet! Deseeves a like
WONDERFUL tip! I thought I saw it all the first time, but the contrast of blue on pink made it clearer how thin the layers of polish were,
This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for. Thank you so much for this excellent video, it helped me so, so much.
Have you subscribed to my nail channel? The Meticulous Manicurist Nail Academy :)

Love this video. I had to learn this by trial and error at my 1st spa job -_-

Thank you! Wonderful instructions! : )
Problem with mine is if I take too less polish it apply on the top and gets very patchy at the bottom because it runs out of polish, what should I do
I have this problem too
Your polish might be old or too dry, you can put a little bit of nail polish remover in it and shake it up and it should be more malleable
Never put nail polish remover in it! It'll evaporate and gum up your polish. You can get nail polish thinner at any beauty supply store and it's cheap. I have that problem as well, even with brand new high quality (OPI and up) polishes

Instead of a matte coat you could lightly buff it
You could try a ridge filler and maybe shake the bottle a little more beforehand, don't know if this will help though...
