thank you so much. i was struggling a lot and i tried everything but then i saw your video and realized that i hadnt turned on my soundcard. lmao thank you :)
I used a 3.5mm Y connector jack from the laptop split into right and left/red and white RCA jacks to a set of speakers but that came out of the laptop phone socket. Please understand that the UMC202HD allows you to select it as the main sound processor via the software and choose where to send it out. That's why you never see me hook up cables on the rear.
What software program are you trying to record with? You have to make sure that the UMC Driver is selected in options. If you're using an external mic or other equipment check that they are on and have the volume up and watch for a signal on the device.
hi thanks for your reply, im using sonar platinum, umc is selected but im not sure if my sound device is set right even with the volume full up it hardly shows on the meter, I should be able to hear myself singing with the backing tracks which are playing ok@@buymelikeme
@@TheMerlinshawk I used to use Cakewalks stuff but found it unstable, that's what it was called before it went from midi to an audio workstation. Make sure the track that the vocal is going to is armed. It will not show you anything let alone record if the armed/record enable button is not pressed before recording begins. If that fails save your project open a new project and set up 1 track and try to get audio onto that track. Also make sure that the UMC202HD's 48v phantom power switch at the rear is on.

i noticed on your desktop you had mixcraft. Would be interested in knowing what kind of recording you do using mixcraft. You have any tutorials on using the Behringer with mixcraft
Alex Mac Yes, that’s because the inputs are mono tracks. You should be able to fix that in the DAW that you’re using, either by changing stereo input to mono, or using the mono channel for both the left and the right channel
If microlab has phono inputs then yes. Just look at the connectors, they should either be 1/4 inch male or female or 3.5mm stereo. Once you know you can get the right cables.
hi, what do you recommend for me? i want to create a small home studio, which one is more preferable? xenxy qu 50 mixer or the device you show in this vidio.?
From my point of view I wanted something small, reliable and high quality that was much quieter than the in-built mixer carrying the background noise of the laptop for vocals, and the UMC202HD was perfect. Tried usb mixers and the noise floor was not that quiet so that killed that argument. For a studio where music instruments and other artists/vocalists are involved and you will be using more than 2 mics, get a mixer. For example, if I was going to upgrade I would get the behringer 404HD, more inputs/outputs.
About 5 - 10 years ago home recording software like cakewalk for HD recording wasn't that good, meaning there was a lot of clipping and other undesirable artefacts present in the audio. Both hardware and software has improved to where you can professionally broadcast from your bedroom or garage. So HD has impressed me to the point where everything you hear in this video is digital. So yes HD is better, quieter, cleaner and when dealing with transfers of data between mediums faster. Analogue is beautiful and nostalgic but HD is now the future.

Make sure reaper, the UMC control panel, and windows settings for the mic are all set to record at the same sample rate, like 48000kz 24 bit. Increase the buffer setting possibly in the UMC control panel and make sure the output and input levels are maxed in the UMC panel as well. If you still are having problems, let me know as I have the same setup and DAW. There's a lot of things it could be.

Hi, i can ask if behringer umc202hd has the balanced or unbalanced outputs? I hope they are balanced because I have to connect them to TRS with two active monitors. I apologize for my English, thank you.
Is it possible to use this device as a regular external sound card? I'm looking for something that I can plug my headphones and microphone into and have individual volume controls for both like I had on my old PC headset. I won't be recording anything, mostly just gaming, watching movies and sometimes voicechat with my friends while gaming, wich is why I'm basically just looking for a gain controller for both the mic and headphones.
Yes. Remember the UMC202HD is just for audio. It's the computer via the USB and the software DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) that will handle the midi.
Is it possible to use this device without PC? If I do not want to record anything, just play an acoustic guitar and reflect the sound through ( Mic + umc22 + Speakers ) ?
So your question is can you use this as a stand alone mixer to play an instrument without a computer? No I think not as the device is powered by USB. You could power it via a usb hub plugged into the mains but it reacts only with the software via computer.
How does it work with your windows audio for eg. Can you play a youtube karaoke track and record it on track one of your daw and then lay a vocal on track 2 of the daw?
Yes. Take for example you have an instrumental like the karaoke track you refer to. You can place that on track 1. Open track 2 and as long as the latency in your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) is set correctly and you have a decent pc/laptop there will be no issues.
If i were to connect this to my macbook... do I just plug it into the headphone jack of the behringer ? Or would I need one of those cables that have the earphone jack on one end and two 1/4” jacks on the other end for left and right and plug those two ends into the input of the behringer ?
All the audio conversion is done via the usb cable. So if I understand you correctly all you have to do is plug it in. The device then becomes an external sound card. No need for extra cables unless you are recording through the umc202hd into the mac. You can then plug your headphones into the umc202hd.
Hi sir, i do have behringer 204hd. I'm using REAPER DAW. My setup is my input is selected for my interface and my output goes for my headphone that is connected at my computer. Is there any way that i can still here my desktop sound at the same time here my sound from reaper? Thanks sir
Dynamic microphones do not need a power supply (partially true). The vast majority of dynamic microphones can manage without power but there are some exceptions. Basically, all condenser microphones need some kind of power supply. This is primarily to supply the impedance converter and for non-electret condensers to charge the electrodes (membrane and back electrode). Active dynamic microphones need a power supply as well. Hi, i wonder if it is possible to take audio out of the computer via usb, and by the umc 202 hd convert it in analog, to send it to main speakers Thanks
Once you connect the usb to the computer and install the drivers the UMC202 will send the digital signals out of the audio outputs on the rear of the machine. You can then connect an unbalanced stereo cable to your speakers or even your hi-fi.
So much thanks to you. Just bought an numark platinum dj controller, but not that happy with its audio card, so, i wondered what if i connect an extra audio interface in another usb port, in order to mix within the pc, and taking audio from this extra one. By the side, also would be very nice to have a little interface for recording, actually, have a behringer x air 18, but it is too big for carry as dj, or make simple recordings Again, thanks, did not find any explanation about this use for it
I used to get similar noise in Sony Acid Pro on a decent laptop. There may be several buffer settings in your audio software dealing with latency offset and track buffering. Adjust them independently until you get a clear recording. All else fails take a break, shut down system and start again.
My dynamic mic doesn't turn the signal green when his gain is low like you just showed on minute 4:45 . I've been watching a couple of videos to try to figure out why is my output level so low (barely registers on my daw) while my gain and headphone switches are raised up so high. Is there any help you can give me on this subject?

@ Did you install the software? If so restart the machine with the device connected. Sometimes as I found out recently it depends WHICH USB port you plug it into. If that doesn't work right click on the start button, scroll down and click 'Device Manager'. Take a look on that list for any driver errors.
Number of tracks is based on not just your settings but the power of your system. You have a killer system that can move the moon out of orbit, hack the pentagon or burn a hole through your desk from the cpu heat you should have no problems. You have a slower system 4 to 8 tracks before clipping or lag and hurting your wrist from banging the table. I used to experience bleedover in cakewalk, hated it. Switched to acid pro, changed a few latency settings and got a faster hard drive really helped.
my pc is enable to detect the audio interface..i have installed the right driver..i have pluged and unpluged the audio interface plenty of times now..what must be wrong? help!
If you look below at the comments I spoke to Maysinator Smith, he had a similar problem. Unfortunately he could not find a solution. HOWEVER, notice if you will he had windows 8.1. there’s a LINE input mode. There’s a INST input mode. where’s the MIC input preamp mode? also, there’s no way to monitor a mono signal (one channel) through stereo headphones.
If anyone can reply I'd appreciate it, the switch behind my Behringer doesn't want to turn on and the whole Behringer doesn't want to turn on even when I connect it, it was just working recently the other day
Definitely still happy, that's not going to change. Listen to youtube and online radio through this baby. This device with a good mic and a software editor like soundforge and you're ready.
You probably figured it out by now, but I figured I'd reply... I'm assuming it's a windows OS, you basically Right Click on the little speaker in the bottom right hand corner of the screen, open properties, or sound settings, (Something like that), and there should be a setting where you can choose The input/output device, just pick your interface, done. If that doesn't work, follow the steps in this video, then go back over what I wrote above... >M
1. If you have a virus checker try switching it off temporarily, sometimes they're a pain in the neck. 2. If it's a Mac you don't need an installer, it recognizes it automatically so just plug it in. 3. Make sure you have the right driver installer for your version of windows and behringer audio unit: www.music-group.com/brand/c/Behringer/downloads 4. Check your onboard audio drivers in your device manager to see if they have an exclamation mark. If so uninstall and reinstall then try again. Sometimes a driver conflict will get in the way of an install especially in this context if it's audio. 5. Check the behringer forum: forum.music-group.com/showthread.php?17893-Problems-with-U-PHORIUA-UMC202&highlight=umc202hd. 6. Let me know how you get along.
I had a problem with Focusrite also the stupid headphone jack only plays sound on one side of the headphone and you gotta wiggle the jack around until sound comes out on both sides of the headphones, really frustrating when you're trying to record and not move your head trying to avoid the chord from moving... pure shit. Ordered a 404HD they look and sound solid so far from reviews.
In a sound test online Focusrite noise floor/background hiss, played slightly quieter. If however the build quality is less customers will be upset eventually. Behringer at least in this instance seems to be solid trusted German audio tech.
I was angry because the driver didn't recognize the device, but when you said that the black cable comes with the UMC202HD I looked inside the box and I found it like hidden. Now my device runs. Damn, I feel so stupid now lol
I had nothing but problems with the driver with my windows 10.. did not like it at all. plugged into computer a small window pop up like it was going to install or setup or something than was gone I had to go some were so I shut down computer it took like 5 min. to shut down it's always like 5 sec. ..I came back home turned on computer and nothing no desktop just a blank screen took me a few hours to get computer back up installed driver for it and never could get the unit to work like it should .. than was on a youtube video trying to figure out how to set it up right going through the steps than the video froze I could no longer watch the video or any videos until I put back the audio settings...I give up ..not sure whats going on.. removed driver and computer is back to normal......skylake.. I7........16 gigs.of ram ..gtx 1060
Another user below 'shubham kindre' had the same issues. He said: "i fixed the problem reinstalling the driver and restarting my pc .Incase anyone here needs this."
Did you manage to figure out what the issue was? I notice that not every setup with the UMC202HD is the same. Some people pass their unit through amps, computer systems, mixers etc. Solution might be rearranging your playback and recording devices but I don't want to give you more problems. Right click over your audio speaker icon on the taskbar, select playback devices and play around with making different devices default, then try that with recording devices.
Annnnnnd I just realized how disappointed I am....Previous video i saw showed the 204 version with the midi, and here i was thinking 'OH GOD FINALLY AN ALL IN ONE THAT I CAN USE!' so then i click on this video, and realize my mistake -.-;;; don't feel like paying 80 bucks for something 'only' for the use of MIDI..... but, hopefully this 202HD can also be used as a playback device on the computer...
I have same shit but without HD!!. When i start recording it stays for 1minute then gives a wrong massage " the UMC Driver Failed " and goes away !.. please i need help !!
Paul, I understand your frustration BUT you run this through VoiceMeeter Banana making sure that your default playback and recording audio devices are set to Voicemeeter and click mono you will be fine. Try it and you'll see.
I had a$100. For the 404 but they took my money 💰 now I have anything Dam it sucks being on a fixed income I wanted a little piece of something for myself but it looks like O-well !!.....it seems too to be futile !! And frustrating mates...
It is hard on a fixed income so do what you can with what you have and save gradually to get what you want. What usually happens is by the time you can afford it, the item you want is either discontinued and the only one you can get is a used one that is sold for the same money as new.

By the side, also would be very nice to have a little interface for recording, actually, have a behringer x air 18, but it is too big for carry as dj, or make simple recordings
Again, thanks, did not find any explanation about this use for it
Just one year later, finally bought a umc 404 hd, and i can take audio out via usb, for both, main and headphones, in traktor and vdj. Serato sucks
I get this pink noise like sound when I record vocals and it doesn't go away...does it have anything to do with buffer rate?
I used to get similar noise in Sony Acid Pro on a decent laptop. There may be several buffer settings in your audio software dealing with latency offset and track buffering. Adjust them independently until you get a clear recording. All else fails take a break, shut down system and start again.
Alright thanks...do you mean buffer settings on my audio interface or daw?
DAW.
Please how do I do that on cubase sx?

How can i connect this to ableton help

Any luck figuring this out, since you posted a year ago?
I too am in need of this answer.
*HELP' no sound device is connected to the pc 'not seeing card, cable changed, problem not resolved,is the card broken?suddenly it was like this, was not broken* helpp
I've seen 3 set up videos for this and nobody shows how to connect monitors to this
15:45 - Shows exactly that. Most people only use it for the conversion of the low quality laptop audio to the UMC202HD for the high quality audio out.

@ Did you install the software? If so restart the machine with the device connected. Sometimes as I found out recently it depends WHICH USB port you plug it into. If that doesn't work right click on the start button, scroll down and click 'Device Manager'. Take a look on that list for any driver errors.
Also how many discreet separate audio tracks can you lay without bleedover from another track?
I'm using Windows 10. Perhaps it is your operating system. If you have another machine/laptop try it on that with Win 10.
thankyou for replying. i fixed the problem reinstalling the driver and restarting my pc .Incase anyone here needs this. (y)
Good job. Enjoy!
I have UMC204HD 192k but i can't use it with a midi keyboard to create
music using midi port to have sound on VST in a FL Studio DAW! Please i
need your GREAT HELP!
Use USB keyboard for midi instead.
What's that second voice in the background?
The pre-recorded audio of me moving the camera around.
Phantom power.... lol
there’s a LINE input mode. There’s a INST input mode. where’s the MIC input preamp mode?
also, there’s no way to monitor a mono signal (one channel) through stereo headphones.
Nice info. But i hear zombie 2:12
Ha ha! Day of the dead.
Lol
If anyone can reply I'd appreciate it, the switch behind my Behringer doesn't want to turn on and the whole Behringer doesn't want to turn on even when I connect it, it was just working recently the other day
Are you still happy with your purchase? I am getting one of these for similar reasons.
Definitely still happy, that's not going to change. Listen to youtube and online radio through this baby. This device with a good mic and a software editor like soundforge and you're ready.
Hey, I connected my umc204 device and I can only hear audio from daw. What I have to do, to hear audio from other apps?
You probably figured it out by now, but I figured I'd reply... I'm assuming it's a windows OS, you basically Right Click on the little speaker in the bottom right hand corner of the screen, open properties, or sound settings, (Something like that), and there should be a setting where you can choose The input/output device, just pick your interface, done.
If that doesn't work, follow the steps in this video, then go back over what I wrote above...

whenever i click the setup it loads to like 90% then just goes away. like nothing happenes the setup never comes up. any help?
6. Let me know how you get along.
can you tell me how to get to my device manager exactly? im running on windows 8.1
The easiest way to get to device manager in windows 8.1 is to right click on the start menu scroll up and select device manager.
7. If everything is all good on the device manager try to right click with your mouse and run the driver as admiinistrator.
prntscr.com/fc4eu6 this is the device manager and i see nothing about audio drivers
It's good to take time with technology. Very glad to see your money wasn't wasted.
brother tell me how to connect please
I have little doubt all the protective film on the USB hub is still on that hub. Thanks for the PTSD
I got a older cheap i7 computer off of ebay got it working good ..I'm also going to try to run it from one computer to another ...
Good job man.
you sound like Lennie James from back in the 2000's haha
Thanks for the compliment but I think my voice is sexier. ;)
Yes it can. I push all audio through the UMC202HD.
I have same shit but without HD!!. When i start recording it stays for 1minute then gives a wrong massage " the UMC Driver Failed " and goes away !.. please i need help !!
hahahah good video
Sounds muffled.
your pronunciation of behringer has earned a dislike.
Stay away from this you only get sound from one side of your headphones
what a waste of my money just buy a mixer with 48 volts on it
Paul, I understand your frustration BUT you run this through VoiceMeeter Banana making sure that your default playback and recording audio devices are set to Voicemeeter and click mono you will be fine. Try it and you'll see.
World of Raheem Just what I wanted, mono sound!!
THERE IS NO USB LIES
