Regarding a potential backlash against a basic VR implementation in Astro Bot, I really think it depends on messaging. If they just dumped it out there (or worse, hyped the game as a great VR experience like Hitman did), yes people would be very critical. But if they put out a message saying something like "This game was always intended as a non-VR PS5 game, but we wanted to do something for fans of Rescue Mission and the PSVR 2 so we added a basic VR option," the vast majority of people would love them for it. It's all about messaging, which is something they've sucked at since before the PSVR 2 launched, and one of the biggest reasons it's failed to sell well imo.
Just started playing Still Wakes the Deep (Gamepass version) and it is amazing with UEVR, still messing around with the settings but it just highlights that it's crying out for a full VR release with proper object interactivity.
Great show Wes and Ruuts, I have started Still Wakes The Deep (Flat) and it is very intriguing so far. On the weekend when I have more time I will probably finally take the plunge on UEVR. Also I will be picking up Blade and Sorcery full release as I never played it previously. But my most anticipated VR game's of this year easily is AOT and MFS 2024.
Notifications suck on RUclips so I have for the past two weeks had my very own Virtual Strangers podcast alarm set on my phone for every Monday at 10:30pm UK time so I am good and ready even if it means I only get to see around an hour of the live show only lol
Had to bail out of the show last night, but if it didn't get pointed out in chat, "niggle" is a perfectly cromulent English word meaning a trivial criticism, discomfort, or annoyance.
Anybody have a link to what games have FULL motion controls with UEVR? I'd like to see if the library is decent yet. (I have used gamepad/half motion controls) not interested in that.
Anyone know?? I have Quest 3 and wanted to get a laptop around $1000. Will a 4060 and i7 be good enough to run high-end VR?? Maybe not ultra settings but high settings??? Thank you so much to anyone that responds!!!
Laptop GPU usually not the same as Desktop GPU in terms of spec. So be careful. Depends what you mean by high end VR. If you mean forcing flat games into VR using UEVR then probably not. If you are thinking MS flight sim 2020 then maybe not either. If you mean half life alyx, I would think maybe medium settings. (My 4090 desktop tries to get me to reduce from ultra settings on that game with quest 3) The laptop 4060 on GPU bench puts it around equivalent to a gtx1080. My son played hl.a at medium on a quest 2 with a 1070 and it was only noticeably bad in a few places with stutter, and the 4060 should be more like a 1080 in performance. But then quest 3 is higher resolution. Hmmm. Does it have to be a laptop?
@CorporateZombi thank you for replying! I'm totally ignorant to PCs....however I am not to VR. I've had the Quest 1,2 and now 3. I just dont know anything about PC and trying to learn. It's confusing with the number system Nivida has. Like I found out the newer 4060 is worse then an 3080....which to me you'd think the higher number and newer the the GPU the better! Could you recommend a gaming laptop that's no more then $1,200 that can run mid to high VR? Like I said I know I can't run Ultra with ray tracing but something that's much better then stand alone graphics! Thank you!
So basically not high end VR, but you can almost certainly have a good time on it anyway. Especially if playing in high performance mode and plugged into the wall.
@CorporateZombi yes mid is fine. Like to play Skyrim in VR would be amazing! What $1000-1200 laptop GPU would work? Any idea? You think 4060 is OK because I've seen sales on laptops that are $1000 that have an i7 and a 4060.
Ideally you would probably want to be able to connect your computer directly to the internet router with Ethernet cable, then you can connect your quest 3 to the WiFi and have wireless pcvr. Either using airlink or with the paid virtual desktop application on your quest. You might get a better value in terms of graphic power buying a desktop computer with a gpu but obviously then you need a TV or monitor + keyboard and mouse.
Wow your not wrong. That dance is making fun of anyone that owns the psvr2. It's not looking good for a psvr3 possibility. It seems the psvr2 will be the end of that product line.
I never understood microsofts flight sim. To me it seems so boring. I never thought I'd consider gamepass but you get lots of uevr games so it may happen for me.

I think the biggest thing for Flight Sim 20 was the live weather. It was cool to fly out and intercept a real hurricane
