Hey Alissa! I'm 16 and your video just randomely popped up on my page and after watching it, I do sort of know how you feel.
I went through a phase of crippling video game addiction and depression, which almost cost me the tech class I wanted to get into. During this time, I was diagnosed with high functioning autism and ADHD.
I am now medicated for the ADHD and I started to look into self improvement content. About a month ago, I quit video games cold turkey, started weight lifting and long walks, and started learning cyber security / coding, which is my new passion (things like hacking, web building and network developement) for my pc setup.
I know I'm a random 16 year old on the internet but you have a lot going for you, even if you don't feel like you do.
You have a loving husband, you are in (from what we can see) good health and it's good to release feelings through venting / other ways.
One thing that majorly helped me (and a lot of the people I know in the self improvement space) with my mood, was long walks and exercise. During my summer holidays, I'm going to be weightlifting, boxing, cycling and walking. I don't know how much free time you have but even if its just something like a 5 minute session, it helps more than you could imagine.
Congrats on your weight loss aswell!
Just hoping things go well for you as you are clearly very focused on them!
Good luck! You can do it! I'm all here to see you acheive your goals! 💪

It’s super good that you have been able to build up healthy habits. Building up a good foundation now in your youth is going to reward you so much as you get older.
      Thanks for the support 😊

I'm 28 and tackling my mental health at the moment too 😊 Similar to you, it's been an ongoing struggle for about 10 years. I just came across you on TikTok. You're not alone 💛 And congratulations on your marriage! I got married to my best friend last year, and we have a little girl who's waiting on an autism/ADHD diagnosis. I wish you all the best on this journey of figuring things out 😊

Just found your channel, but am already a huge fan. Thank you for sharing a feeling that almost all of us 20 somethings know all too well. Your vulnerability is a skill, and I hope you keep using it to encourage others:)

you seem like a really nice person, I just subscribed and I hope that you continue sharing your journey :) I'm also an atheist and you remembering me that this is all we have is definitely a wake up call. I'm not an academic, but I'm also kinda stuck suffering from anxiety and depression and it's just really nice to have this kind of inspiration to move on and change something to myself too
    wishing you all the best!!

It can definitely be hard sometimes to remind yourself that life isn’t that serious, that we only need to make ourselves happy. Unfortunately our brains (and depression and anxiety) do not always take the logical approach 😅
But we can try our best 💪

Hey Alissa, I may not understand your situation well and I may be too blunt, but I would like to try to explain how I see it and maybe it will help a bit.
I have noticed what words you use, because I guess that is also the way how you think.
A few times you say "I want" and "I don't want" and I think that is good, because this way you show your feelings and you show that you care about yourself.
And thinking in a way of "I can't live like that", "I need to fix it" is not as helpful as "I want to feel better" and "I want to fix it". Where you instead of 'pushing yourself' you take that care of yourself.
You say "I don't want to be depress, I just want to be happy" and to me it seems like you are looking for a balance. To be able to have those good and bad days and be able to enjoy the life as it is.
You say "I believe there is no meaning to life [...] and if you are not happy then what's the point" to me it sounds like your meaning of life is to be happy. Which I understand as to find that balance.
And to that you say "something has to change" and I also had that thought back few years ago. That was very scary but I had to say it out loud to make it real and realize that
this 'something' is me, that I have to change, and then I took that "care" and I sait "I want to change", to be honest it was not that scary as I imagined and to me it is more like a journey.
I'm really happy to see that your mind is on a right path. And I hope you will get better.

I actually appreciate that, I’m not a super energetic bubbly person, and can’t really watch people who are 😅 so just being myself and hoping to find people who are the same way (seems to be working I guess) 😄
