OMG thank you for uploading this! I feel like you're the only youtuber that not only produces and understands these genres well, but you also take the time to show us techniques from artists that aren't super mainstream. Great taste in music dude.
Thank you! I truly appreciate that :) I think being a producer is important, as appose to just be a teacher.
LORN LORN LORN
Added him to the list, we'll see how the votes go :)
Yes! Lorn!

You're welcome :)

nosajthing

clams casino
Added him to the list :)
BeatsbyVanityTV im looking forward to that one... my fave so far is the knxwledge tutorial.
For anybody who is thinking they don't have the time or money to field recording, there are SO many random field recordings/sound effects packs on the internet that you can download. Flume even does this and that's how he sometimes creates his weird sounds. Here is a website that has all kinds of free samples: 99sounds.org/free-sound-effects/ .If I don't feel like making music, I just download random sound effect packs, browse through them and mess with them to create weird sounds. Thought this would help :)
Thank you for providing the resource!
mate you are smashing these tutorials! Great content
I appreciate that!
SAM GELLAITRY!! Thanks for the vids homie
Also, it would be pretty awesome if you could go over some of the programming of these sounds (why you chose certain patterns for drums, for example), or where the ideas for melodies for certain artists came from for you.. just an idea. Its cool to hear the parts solo'd but going into the way you created the parts more in depth would be appreciated by many i'm sure.
It would, and I think it would be super useful. However, there just isn't enough time to cover everything, 18 - 20 minutes is where I'm aiming for. Any longer and its too much information for people to really take in. However, if it was request, I could make a part 2! Sam Gellaitry is out tomorrow too :)
Can you tell me which istruments you used in this video ! im more interessted in the istruments rather than to the drums and the backgroundsound in this composition. It was your the weekend type instrumental, liked it a lot. Would appreciate an answer :D
and definitly the vocals
A few people have asked that, I didn't explain or go into any detail surrounding it as I found it as an audio file from a past project, I think may be a sample however, I will try and find it for you!
wow thanks !! :D by the way the drums sound amazing
Did you not go over how you made those vocals, or did I just miss it?
They're from Exhale!
PS...how about Jamie XX?
Jamie XX is getting a lot of votes, so very soon, most likely early Feb!
extremely well done
love the last bit about your mastering chain too.
Thank you! Glad it was helpful.
this is such an amazing channel thanks bro!!!!!!!!!
You're welcome :)
Really great tutorial series! Learning very much. Thank you for that!!
You're welcome, glad you're enjoy!
I'd love to try my hand at that sample you used. Any chance you remember where you got it?
Oh yes, another good video by the way! Thanks for that too brother...
You're welcome!
Ton of great info past the normal VST and drum tutorials. Def gonna look into layering and texturing found sounds now
hey, what about the pad?!
such a helpful series! thankyou
Cover flying lotus. Also, you eve think about selling the ableton projects for these sample tracks?
I already have! ruclips.net/video/7pUut8gBvVI/видео.html :)
(im)patiently waiting for the new Esta video :D
I'm literally just uploading it now :)
This is great, nice work. I'd love to see the details/process to getting the many vocal samples in the track. Are you considering a part 2?
A few people have asked that, I didn't explain or go into any detail surrounding it as I found it as an audio file from a past project, I think may be a sample however, I will try and find it!
oh man i was really hoping you would go over the chords and how you made the patches! great vid though

Please make a Four Tet tutorial
Do In The Style of Galimatias please
Hey, love your videos. I was wondering if you'd ever consider doing a "what's in my bag" type video. As a fellow music producer, I think it could be inspiring/useful to me and your other viewers to see what things you take with you on a daily basis for our unique occupation. Thanks!
I don't 100% understand, but I do like the idea. Do you just mean a random bag? Not music related at all?
BeatsbyVanityTV I think music-related would be more interesting if you actually do carry music-related things with you. "What's in my bag" is a pretty popular style of inspiring/informative video but so far I've only seen one (not so great) video from the perspective of a music producer. Obviously if you keep all your stuff at home, it might not be relevant. Thanks!
Goldlink/BBNG ?
Added him to the list, thank you!
how about evian christ or yung gud?
Yung Gud has been mentioned a lot so that one will be happening soon!
sango tutorial
weekend wolves please!!!
Monte Booker!
you sound like the dude from point break music
Haha, which one?
Bill Evans ? :3
Do Against All Logic
if you're a real thug youll do Galimatias
i think lapalux has a lot of stereo stuff going on under 240hz, especially with his percussion. cool tutorial though, i don't mean to be a turd, just thought i'd mention it.
From a mixing standpoint that wouldn't make much sense, what percussion sounds would hit around that reign, besides say low tom drums? I roll all my percussion sounds (hats, shakers, symbols, tambourines, etc.) off around there as otherwise their just interfering with the kick and bottom end of the snare.
yeah that's typical of most electronic music, but more experimental acts like like flylo, nosaj thing or lapalux often pile up bass tracks as well as kick layers. A good example of a lapalux track that does this is STNR.
Yeah, I’m not implying that it’s never been done. I’m all for creative experimentation, put putting your low frequencies in stereo is not something I’d ever recommend, unless having a weak and inconsistent bass and kick drum is what you’re going for. If Lapalux has done it, a better option would have been to have a separate bass tone in stereo out of the way of the kick and sub bass (which could even be under 250 Hz).
yeah, it ain't ideal for most electronic music, but it's pretty refreshing and cool when done well. thanks again for the tutorial. it'd be cool to see you do one on eprom
It's funny, I'm actually addressing mixing and how it can be more of a style than a set of rules in tomorrows tutorial. So you're comment is well timed, Eprom will be soon also :)
monte booker please !
Lido would be great
Amon Tobin is fuckin impossible!
:)
galimatias & pyrmdplaza
Considering the amount of time you must spent making these tunes I think a little extra time going through the hows and why's you've done things in the tutorial would make sense no? Seems like you want to just rush through and not explain the reasoning you've put a compressor on something and why you've set the settings how they are. Not dissing, just think you could make them a little more informative considering you've already done most the hard work.
I appreciate the honesty.
But I can’t cover everything in every tutorial. I pack a lot of information into 20 minutes and I feel making them any longer would mean people just would not absorb all the information. Hence why TED talks are the same length. I explained why I used the EQ and Compressor with the settings I did in the Esta tutorial, I just don’t repeat myself in every video. Hope that makes sense.
Lap of luxury (lapalux) means your well bent and digging your surroundings. Not about money.
lap of luxury - in conditions of wealth and comfort; "he was raised in the lap of luxury" ease, comfort - a freedom from financial difficulty that promotes a comfortable state; "a life of luxury and ease"; "he had all the material comforts of this world"
Tame Impala
WHAT is going on guys
josh pan please
Never heard of Pogo, so thanks for that...
I assume you know of Kutiman's Through You album?
Here's my favourite from that:
ruclips.net/video/EsBfj6khrG4/видео.html
I have, and really love it. Examples such as this really make you think of samples differently. Thanks for sharing!
Lornnnnnnn
Lorn has been suggested further down too, he will also be very soon!
patten
grimes pleaaaaase
Anderson paak
What so not
Tyler The Creator
TEK.LUN?
Added him to the list, thanks!
Hmm I feel like the drums here are just too straight for it to be Lapalux, his drums exhibit a wonky character and are somewhat blatantly misplaced at times, in the groove of all the movement within his compositions.
