    We found the big 4 of the Altiplano, the perfect hot spring camp, an electric car travelling pole to pole, 4 friends really adventurous, a barbecue in the devil’s desert, and a perfect cone, all of it during our last drive on the Puna plateau in Argentina.
    The puna plateau is a continuation of the Altiplano the biggest second high plateau in the world after Tibet! We hesitated a lot to go back for a long expedition drive in those inhospitable lands but the thought that it would be our last chance to see these landscapes was a good enough motivation.
    We elected this journey the most beautiful drive of our world tour journey so far! We are not joking it was exceptional.
    An immense thank you to our travel friends, Jon and Nadine (on instagram couch_potatoes) and Vanessa and Dario (on instagram pathsofrosie) for such a beautiful ride!
    Until next week, take care!

    Awsome country Nick and Mathilde, these deserts seemed almost more barren than here in Northamerica but there must be some vegetation if the llamas, guanacos, Alpacas, and those giant birds, missed their name, can live there.

    • @NextMeridianExpedition
      @NextMeridianExpedition  11 месяцев назад +1

      yes it is fascinating. maybe it is due to the extreme elevation. the average elevation is above 4000 meters, only tibet plateau is slightly higher and bigger if we understood well. that is certainly a factor. but it is fascinating how the slightest water presence or decrease in elevation gives opportunity for wildlife

    Ah, my Saturday Morning travelers. You are a part of my life each week and you never fail to disappoint. This one was especially interesting, revealatory, and amazing. I never would have guessed that Argintina has so much uninhabited desert that looks like a collection of landscapes from other worlds. Your musical choices were also so fitting. I really enjoy the drone shots and the Spanish flavor they provide. But, I must say, you guys are very intrepid. To go where you did, alone, is tempting fate. All you would need is a mechanical breakdown, or to somehow get stuck. You would be screwed and dependent on every drop of water until you were rescued. I hope you have a satellite phone! Albo seems to be in great shape mechanically. I'm sure you trust her implicitly. People who attempt that with a vehicle that is less than 100% should have their heads examined. Lastly, about that hot spring. My guess it was built by the military 100 or more years ago and it was once a place they came to rest before continuing on. Who knows, there could be other such places on the Alto Plano. I do not think it was an individual farmer. Too much time, effort, and cutting and moving stones would have been next to impossible. It had to be the military. I'm sure the government has a history site that would tell you. In any case, until next Saturday, adios amigos!

    Toward the end I finally see some palm trees. You went from cold desert to warm Tropics pretty fast. How did that happen?

    • @NextMeridianExpedition
      @NextMeridianExpedition  11 месяцев назад +1

      It s just a few hours drive away from the altiplano when you go down in elevation. It is not humid but palm trees seem to grow.

    I don't think I would trust swimming in the Hot Springs. It could be polluted there could also be urine and poop in their. Someone may have used it as a toilet. Where did the water come from since it is such a Dry desert. 🤔😂😂😂🙏🏻

    • @NextMeridianExpedition
      @NextMeridianExpedition  11 месяцев назад +1

      It was a river flow coming in and out. Literally a hot spring coming from up the river and evacuating on the other side of the pool. You still find springs in those environments. And we were not longer in there deserts areas of the begining of the video it was 450 km away almost
