Platinum, Emerald and HG/SS are the holy trinity of the Pokémon games. Shit was fire, I swear Gamefreak didn’t realize what they were doing when they dropped those masterpieces because they keep shitting the bed with their newer generations. BW2 was good as well, but the other 3 were just on another level, especially when they first came out.
Good list but D/P are ass compared to Platinum. Everything good about Gen 4 is because of Platinum: fixing the Pokedex (adding more fire types like Houndoom), walk cycle/game speed, redesigning the Galactic bases, giving Cyrus better motivations and more cutscenes that didn't overstay its welcome, the Distortion world, Origin form Giratina, early access to the Earthquake TM (before Gym 3) w/Gible, better pacing between Gyms, an expanded post game, and better drip
All joking aside, the biggest "flaws" of the gen 1 and 2 remakes is that the soundtracks aren't chiptune, that's the best part of the soundtracks (yes you get a thing in HGSS to enable that but it's postgame and it doesn't sound quite right)
Diamond and Pearl are overrated AF. Boring gym leaders, boring elite 4, mid soundtrack, mid new pokemon, terrible selection of pokemon, lack of memorable locations. Platinum was just Diamond/Pearl but better in every way

Well it all depends on what aspects you're looking at imo. Gen 6 arguably has the best overal designs in the series, Legends Arceus was a great deviation from the formula in the main series games, and gen 9's games are fantastic without all the performance issues.
Gen 5 was definitely better over gen 4. Gen 4 was decent, but let face it, team glactica sucked major ass and Cyrus was so lame as a leader. Team plasma was definitely a team that was pure evil and I respect that.
