Being honest here, if you don't know what Samsung Cloud is you have probably never used it and this video isn't necessary for you, similarly if you have google photos you don't probably don't use or need to use one drive. Cloud storage refers to online remote storage, it's not a physical thing so you can't really locate it per se, a bit like the internet but you can get to it via your phone. You use it to save space on your device and to backup your photos and videos. One Drive works the same way as Samsung cloud but it's run by microsoft, no one drive is not the same thing as google photos, again same idea different companies. You don't NEED One drive if you have Google photos but it very much depends what devices you have which would determine how you would access each drive and what would go on there, if you are using Office for example it automatically saves files to the One drive. If you don't know any of this, I say with all niceness you probably don't need to. It's really not a big deal, if you're not using these other drives you're not missing or losing out. The real issue is what to do when your phone is smashed up and you need to access the cloud storage, that's what we really need a video explaining.

I've spent a whole afternoon trying to get the Onedrive to work, and It Does Not Work... So aggravating. Guess I'll just have to forfeit all my cherished family videos and pictures.

WARNING: Don't do this. I'm still trying to figure this out, but it looks like it hijacked what I thought was local folders on my SD card, and turned them into cloud drives without my knowledge. I prefer to keep my photos on my phone's SD card and then back them up using Google photos - having my local AND backups. Looks like OneDrive is stealing my folders, and it won't let you copy them back "en-mass" to my phone. I feel like a victim of theft.
So what happens to my 5 GB data which I am already using on One Drive. If I link Samsung to One Drive now, from where will I get storage space? Being a Samsung user since a decade would have preferred more clarity on it from Samsung.

That's a good question. Me neither I never transfer my videos and photos Samsung cloud. All my photos and videos I transfer them to my micro SD card on my phone. I know that My photos and videos won't be deleted there unless I delete them. But I wonder if my photos and videos will be deleted on my phone if I don't transfer to one drive. 🤔🤔

Only those in the cloud but the cloud tends to back photos up automatically, at least it was. It's worth checking what's on there in case there's something you wanted to keep.
Fun fact you can log in you Google drive backup instead of one drive. It's on the my files setting. Enable that since One drive is somehow a pain. You can't select all you have to do everything one by one

4:12 Not for long, as space running out and ALL cloud services are going free 5GB with PAID versions for anything above 5GB of cloud storage. Knew would happen eventually, as streaming gets bigger and cloud storage is used more. I think you have to create albums IN Samsung Gallery, first---on your phone---NOT create albums in onedrive. I have found once the Samsung Gallery albums are created, I can (but don't have to) first, go on my notebook PC, and search in onedrive) for DCIM folder, located under Samsung Gallery folder. Once inside DCIM, the albums I created in Samsung Gallery (on my phone) will show up as folders inside the onedrive DCIM folder

If this LINKS the Samsung cloud and OneDrive accounts together; how would one go about “unlinking” the accounts if no longer want to use, or have a Samsung phone? If you removing Microsoft OneDrive acct will it unlink the Samsung cloud acct from MS Acct? The info on linking and unlinking these accts is a bit muddled, and no one really has ANY INFO about this on MS website, Samsung website etc.... No, your photos/videos on your phone won't be deleted once you create a Onedrive account and sync all (they give you an option on what folders you want synced - camera/video folder, Whatsapp camera folder, documents folder etc... .) BUT thing is, because it's Backed and synced, if you delete a photo or a video from your phone, it deletes it in the Onedrive online storage and vice versa... which defeats the purpose of having an online storage - it forces you to spend more money for bigger storage once you've reached max capacity, which is you get 20gigs of free storage once you sign up, but best believe you'll use that much space if you sync all the folders like I have and end up spending more money for bigger storage. Your better of with "Backing up" your photos and videos in Google photos than backing up and "SYNC" in Onedrive.
Thanks Greg! I'm a bit disappointed that you only get 15gb in total free for one year like Samsung gives you then you have to pay! 5gb doesn't seem worth the hassle when I can back up photos and videos to my Google photos.

@@kadinsmomma07 I don't think so. It looks like Samsung Cloud is doing away with allowing backups for the Gallery (photos and videos) only. I think you'll still be able to backup your phone data (ie. contacts, calendar, other data) with Samsung Cloud though. I use Google Photos for photos and video. I actually went into the settings for my Samsung account on my phone and turned off syncing for the Gallery since I use Google Photos for that.

Each week, I back up my photos, screenshots, and videos onto a micro SD card in each tablet, then transfer them to a flash drive when the SD card is full. So at any given time, there are photos, screenshots and videos in the Gallery app on each tablet as well as the SD cards inserted in each tablet. The settings for each Gallery app are NOT marked to sync, so there shouldn't be any Gallery items stored in the cloud. Am I correct that my photos, screenshots and videos will NOT be deleted from the Gallery apps on each tablet or from the SD cards in each tablet? I know this may be a stupid question, but I want to be sure that I understand it to ensure that I don't lose anything. Thank you in advance for your time.
Noticd says documents & music, not pics & videos. I have all pics & videos in Dropbox. Just need documents from Samsung accounts on several phones to One Drive, but no option on phones to transfer anywhere! Just to delete or restore each category!!!!

Its BS if i wanted to sync my photos to Microsoft OneDrive I would have done that years ago. Microsoft is not good for Mobile platforms, just stick to what you do good; Business & Office.
Be warned, once you do this OneDrive will no longer sync with your gallery if it saved to a SD Card. It will only work if your pictures are automatically stored to the phone's internal storage. Reply if you know otherwise, I'd be interested in learning a fix. I couldn't find any fix other than unlinking the accounts or changing the storage location.
Btw, i have issue when the i delete photos on my local s21 device , i see that it will delete the same photos on the onedrive , what am I missing? If this the backup it shouldn't called backup.

HELL to the NO!! I don't trust cloud drives for my photos/videos. Screw that option. I've got my own in-house cloud storage that is only accessible within my home network. I have not then nor now nor will I ever trust online storage service. It's a rip-off. That's $84 dollars a year for 1TB?! In 2 years that's $168. You can buy an 4TB WD MyCloud drive for that price. Then you can sink at least 3 smartphones worth of data with no extra charge. Plus you can make the MyCloud drive accessible over the internet whether you're at home, school, work, etc. No way I'm throwing away good money to Microsoft, Google, etc. That's just BS.

If you want original backup of photos and videos to Google drive you're going to have to pay Google for that because eventually you run out of space. I just used Google photos. Unlimited backup of photos and videos up to 1080P and 16 megapixels

T Mobile told me awhile ago auto backups of my photos/videos on Samsung Note 8 weren't supported anymore. And Google Photos doesn't do auto backup anymore. I'm about to tak Samsung to piss off and switch to iPhone for the auto backup to iCloud capabilities. I'm not techie. I need my videos and photos auto backed so they don't count against my phone's memory/space and yet are easily accessible to upload them to social media from the cloud. Thanks. But, the problem I have is that I have just discovered that Gallery Pictures on my SD card are not being backed up to OneDrive. ( I tend to try to put everything I can on the SD card because I run out of space with the Apps that can only go on the internal memory) . What a load of bollix from Samsung, I have a Google based android phone and you don't have to go on one drive just use Google drive to sync all as Microsoft want you to pay for premium storage that used to be free with Samsung cloud and also free and more storage with Google drive. This will steer me away from Samsung phones in the future

Thanks but No cloud for me other than what my phone runs itself. I'll keep nursing this 256gig Note9 with a 256gig I swap out when full. In addition everything is backed up on a portable backup hard drive. No worries about the cloud turning stormy. Cheerz!
If this LINKS the Samsung cloud and OneDrive accounts together; how would one go about “unlinking” the accounts if no longer want to use, or have a Samsung phone?
If you removing Microsoft OneDrive acct will it unlink the Samsung cloud acct from MS Acct?
The info on linking and unlinking these accts is a bit muddled, and no one really has ANY INFO about this on MS website, Samsung website etc....

No, your photos/videos on your phone won't be deleted once you create a Onedrive account and sync all (they give you an option on what folders you want synced - camera/video folder, Whatsapp camera folder, documents folder etc... .)
BUT thing is, because it's Backed and synced, if you delete a photo or a video from your phone, it deletes it in the Onedrive online storage and vice versa... which defeats the purpose of having an online storage - it forces you to spend more money for bigger storage once you've reached max capacity, which is you get 20gigs of free storage once you sign up, but best believe you'll use that much space if you sync all the folders like I have and end up spending more money for bigger storage. Your better of with "Backing up" your photos and videos in Google photos than backing up and "SYNC" in Onedrive.

If this is just for Gallery items, I won't using it then. I already back up all of my photos and videos using Google Photos which I believe is far better.

@@kadinsmomma07 I don't think so. It looks like Samsung Cloud is doing away with allowing backups for the Gallery (photos and videos) only. I think you'll still be able to backup your phone data (ie. contacts, calendar, other data) with Samsung Cloud though. I use Google Photos for photos and video. I actually went into the settings for my Samsung account on my phone and turned off syncing for the Gallery since I use Google Photos for that.

Each week, I back up my photos, screenshots, and videos onto a micro SD card in each tablet, then transfer them to a flash drive when the SD card is full. So at any given time, there are photos, screenshots and videos in the Gallery app on each tablet as well as the SD cards inserted in each tablet.
The settings for each Gallery app are NOT marked to sync, so there shouldn't be any Gallery items stored in the cloud. Am I correct that my photos, screenshots and videos will NOT be deleted from the Gallery apps on each tablet or from the SD cards in each tablet? I know this may be a stupid question, but I want to be sure that I understand it to ensure that I don't lose anything. Thank you in advance for your time.

Its BS if i wanted to sync my photos to Microsoft OneDrive I would have done that years ago. Microsoft is not good for Mobile platforms, just stick to what you do good; Business & Office.

Be warned, once you do this OneDrive will no longer sync with your gallery if it saved to a SD Card. It will only work if your pictures are automatically stored to the phone's internal storage. Reply if you know otherwise, I'd be interested in learning a fix. I couldn't find any fix other than unlinking the accounts or changing the storage location.
Btw, i have issue when the i delete photos on my local s21 device , i see that it will delete the same photos on the onedrive , what am I missing? If this the backup it shouldn't called backup.

They'll delete your photos if you don't pay for extra space happened to me i was 1gb over they deleted all my photos even the ones that were under the 5 gb limit

HELL to the NO!! I don't trust cloud drives for my photos/videos. Screw that option. I've got my own in-house cloud storage that is only accessible within my home network. I have not then nor now nor will I ever trust online storage service. It's a rip-off.
That's $84 dollars a year for 1TB?! In 2 years that's $168. You can buy an 4TB WD MyCloud drive for that price. Then you can sink at least 3 smartphones worth of data with no extra charge. Plus you can make the MyCloud drive accessible over the internet whether you're at home, school, work, etc.
No way I'm throwing away good money to Microsoft, Google, etc. That's just BS.

If you want original backup of photos and videos to Google drive you're going to have to pay Google for that because eventually you run out of space.

i do have an old samsung smartphone Galaxy S6 edge, which tells me to remove my data from the cloud, because it wont be supported anymore after April. I nedd to hurry and get my data out of it.

T Mobile told me awhile ago auto backups of my photos/videos on Samsung Note 8 weren't supported anymore. And Google Photos doesn't do auto backup anymore. I'm about to tak Samsung to piss off and switch to iPhone for the auto backup to iCloud capabilities. I'm not techie. What a load of bollix from Samsung, I have a Google based android phone and you don't have to go on one drive just use Google drive to sync all as Microsoft want you to pay for premium storage that used to be free with Samsung cloud and also free and more storage with Google drive. This will steer me away from Samsung phones in the future
