KNIJohn said in his Battle Network review that the Internet didn't have nearly enough weird pornography, Sonic feet, or casual racism, so yes, the BN internet is very unrealistic.
@@drunkenskunkproductionsdsp8094To be fair, the _Battle Network_ universe is free from Sonic the Hedgehog in general. No accounting for those other two though, especially given how much of the Internet Lan sees, including the "Dark Web" equivalent that has one digital location.
Fun fact, Roahm: English text size causing storage issues is the reason BN6 had *so much* cut content, including two whole *areas* of post-game stuff (also another Boktai cut, but that was because Boktai 3 never came to the US). Hell, even after cutting said Boktai content there still wasn't enough room for the cut post-game segment (Legacy Collection has it of course).
@RoahmMythril You asked on a previous video where slowgauge is good. Slow Gauge is your swap in for Fast Gauge on liberation missions where slow turns are advantageous, since you only get 3 turns per battle and a full clear on turn 1 gives bonuses.
Except it’s mostly situational based on the Navi, you might get some use in having the enemies line up for a chip to hit them all but that’s unlikely to happen, if they’re going to lineup then they will, if not then slow gauge probably won’t make a difference, best usage for it in Liberation Missions is for Navis with a good charge shot, like Colonel, Shadowman, and Megaman, Navis with a charge shot that takes time will not get much value from it like Numberman who’s charge shot is a literal dice roll for damage and it takes a little bit for it to explode,
And because the devs knew about it, in BN5 only, its MB capacity was increased a lot, to the point that not even having all REGUPS will be enough (IIRC). This was done in order to prevent players to use Slow Gauge as their default chip, and exploit the liberation missions.
@@VincentHernandez2121 yeah, having slow gauge as a regular chip would be too broken, use it with your navis that have good charge shots and take it last and don’t use it when you have one with a bad charge shot like Numberman
Something just occurred to me. Wouldn't it have been cooler if this scenario is where we met Gyro/Shadow man? It'd also make more sense! We don't know much about Charlie, and Shadowman is as shady as they get! Plus, Having Shadowman as the boss of the Ninjacomp would be great!
Yeah GyroMan fits the cloud incident better but ShadowMan fits GargoyleComp. That said, if I had played Team Colonel first, it would have been easier to guess the whereabouts for a later thing.
In team Colonel, Higsby and NumberMan are asked to protect Ms. Mari's navi. The rest of the team is indifferent, but Colonel tells Higsby that he would be kicked out of the team if it happens again. In team ProtoMan, Raika has a mission to capture a Nebula navi, and while ProtoMan lets him off, the rest of team ProtoMan scrutinize him over his time management, complaining that he wasted their time. This isn't a comparison about which duties were more important, but about the contrasts between the two teams reactions and personalities.
Your internet cats remark kinda makes me wonder why we never got a cat-like virus in BN... if there was one, I could see it basically function like AlphaBug in a way. And regarding Raika's age at just 13, I'm convinced that if Dynamo Man ever had the Navi makeover, he'd have an operator who was a literal toddler, albeit highly intelligent for one.
Again, just in case you missed it in the last part, the text itself isn't what's eating memory on the cartridge, it's the extra textboxes needed to properly translate Japanese text to English. Some languages are just plain more terse than others, and Japanese is a lot more terse than English. Even trying to be as concise as possible, you will need more characters to translate JP text, and those extra characters, over the course of an RPG, means you need to program additional textboxes - there's just no way around it - and you need available memory on the cart to program them. Also, this was pre-RUclips internet. Cat videos hadn't been invented yet.
CosmoMan gets more backstory on Team ProtoMan? Wasn't expecting that. So they don't even mention speed on Team ProtoMan? I guess GyroMan makes a lot more sense as a lookout than ShadowMan, but it's another case of the version-exclusive Navis mapping to eachother strangely.
Ok… Raika being 13 and a Commander of part of Sharo's army, that I get. It’s weird, but this is also the universe where an 11 year old is a top official government agent, and where another 11 year old has saved the world 4 times by this point, so it’s not too out of the ordinary. BUT RAIKA IS SUBSTANTIALLY TALLER THAN LAN AS HAS A BEARD, HE IS NOT 13.
@@Zsaver3 No, Chaud is basically the same age as Lan. That’s kind of the point, that’s part of why he is Lan's rival. He was just skipped ahead several grades through his life, I don’t know if he even still goes to school alongside his Official work. Even if it hadn’t been specifically stated that they were around the same age in earlier games, he's about the same size as Lan (meaning he's also a fair bit shorter than Raika), which would be kinda weird if he was supposedly a nearly full grown adult.
On a bit of a tangent, I wanted to mention that. Yeah text can take up a LOT of memory, especially English text. Still on the subject of there being more text in English that's why most speed runners run the Japanese version of most JRPGs because they can get though the text boxes faster.
One thing I noticed is that(let me know if this is a bit of a reach) In the Team Colonel version Lan and Higsy have already known each other for a while and they still fell for Nebula's trick, indicating a sort of lack of trust and solidarity between them. Meanwhile in the Team Protoman version Raika is prone to give everyone the cold shoulder including Lan and such a misunderstaning is more plausable and in the end the situations kinda makes them warm up to each other in a way.
I like to imagine Colonel and ProtoMan made arbitrary navi restrictions for the liberation missions solely for the sake of progression of difficulty throughout the game.
Searchman, might be the coolest member of team protoman... which doesn't make up for the ax wielder being in team colonel...i want ax but I'm a weirdo. But seriously, love searchman, fun to play, great character design, great character and operator.... cosmoman!!!
Oh, sure, let's give a Russian- I mean Sharonian (totally a different thing!) access to the personal computer of a high ranking member of the NSA! What could possibly go wrong? This totally doesn't count as treason or anything like that! Oh well, luckily for us everyone except us is completely incompetent, so it's not like anyone can try to arrest us XD
Think when you have the time you could do Adventures of Lolo 2 or 3 please? I loved the playthrough you did of Lolo 1 and Lala's, I bet a lot of people would enjoy seeing how you handle 2 and 3. If at all feasible would love to see you try the Eggerland windows game too, but it might be tough to get working on modern tech, would need a Virtual Box.
Time for another nitpick! It's quite interesting that the end-boss of Team Protoman's Ninja comp is ShadowMan's in-anime rival of sorts SearchMan while ShadowMan himself never touches this area in either GBA version! Alas!
I apologize if someone said this already, but what "Higsby" and "Raika" are saying about foreign is less nationality and more an outside force. If Dr Hikari gave access to all of Electopia, that would cause a problem security-wise. So let's say Dr Hikari works on his computer with RepairMan.exe, then the system would trigger an alarm or counter-measure for anyone else with the exception of Mega. He could access it, but limited as why he would need a hacker-type Navi. That being said, it could mean what you said since these were the fakes and Lan interpreted Higsby's meaning as that when his slipped up.
Roahm, I think that after the End Area 5 Liberation, the NPC who sells you the item needed to open those skull doors on the net will appear on Oran Isle.
To be honest, while I'd take Higsby & NumberMan as characters over Raika & SearchMan any day of the weak, I do think the mission being postponed makes a bit more sense on Raika's side, because it seems a bit ridiculous that an important mission would be postponed by Higsby & NumberMan having a date with someone, meanwhile Raika & SearchMan have their own separate important business going on that could be considered more urgent.
Also I completely forgor, its part 50 yeah. The game has this weird feel Storage compression, in my gba game? Yeah uh...hmm. Honestly I remember very little about searchman, hmm. For players that only played blue moon and colonel (hilariously) you wouldnt even have run into him at all. Which actually is kinda funny. Since, for me, I played red sun first and then switched to blue moon, and protoman first and then to colonel. So the first time I saw searchman was actually in protoman A part of me wonders if its possible to create custom liberation missions. Hmm. Although editing the map might be kinda tough I wonder. Are there any cat based viruses? I cant recall any for one
Wait... there's a couple parts of this plot that don't make sense. For starters, how did a random Nebula member manage to impersonate Higsby/Raika so thoroughly that Lan didn't recognize them? Especially Higsby, Lan's known him for years (I think? I'm not sure how the passage of time works across the series). Secondly, and the most important thing- if that wasn't actually NumberMan/SearchMan, if it was just a couple of disguised HeelNavis, then how the hell did they manage to crack the security on Dr. Hikari's computer so easily?? And if they could crack it that easily, why didn't they already attempt to infiltrate the lab again to access the computer? So much of this doesn't add up.
He's 13!? I am doubting that age; him being late teens would be a little more believable. Plus, I think the ds version had the copies look a little off.
Hi Roahm. After playing at lease 5 Megaman battle network games, would you say that Megaman and/or Lan is/are getting stronger? Since they need to reset back to level 1 for each new game, do you think the end game product gets stronger at the end of each game? I just thought it would be a fun discussion.
Area 0 and english text shouldn't make that much of a difference, no, especially not for every rerelease of the title. Nah, area 0 is still in the english version of the game it's just hidden for some reason. I'm gonna look into it later. Feel free to remind me if I forget.
