- BEFORE WATCHING: My apologies for the camera movement! It's REALLY hard to take this video on my own, and this is the best "take" out of quite a few of them.
Video showing how to adjust the Carriage Assembly on Rockola 1452 jukeboxes. This procedure will most likely apply to other Rockola models (such as a 1448), but I don't have a complete list of similar mechanisms, so use the information seen here accordingly.
NOTE: This video is to be used for REFERENCE PURPOSES ONLY! ALWAYS CONSULT YOUR INSTALLATION & OPERATIONS MANUAL FOR OFFICIAL PROCEDURES! This video is not meant to replace that source of information in any way, and I accept no responsibility for damages (or stupidity!) caused by others.

Outstanding Jim! Thank you for taking the time to do this.
Perfect! Ernesto from Holland! 😅❤
Jim, nice video on the system, I am help a buddy with Rockola 1468 , we used contact cleaner on almost all area . Originally the issue was the grip arm was frozen and that is now working. We cleaned the selection buttons , once it plays a selection, puts it back, it plays the next record and keeps repeating that , it wont stop. I looked at the carriage and all the pins are slide over to the middle. I read that this could be the accumulator area with the cancel solenoid, have to look at that next. If you have any insight to this , I would love to read about it. I did sign up to R Richs form but it you don't word it correctly, especially a newbie you get blasted by him for not following the correct process. So seeing how this would work. Thanks again for the video . Bob
Bob,
NOTE: Please take this response with a HUGE "grain of salt", as I've never worked on a 1468, nor do I have a wiring diagram for one, so my response below is based on my assumption that the 1468 works in the same manner as a 1448 or 1452. Proceed with caution!
Having said that, what you're describing here sounds like you may have an issue somewhere within/underneath the Carriage Assembly. These mechanisms are "dumb", and the ONLY WAY the unit knows where to "index" the Gripper Arm (stop the Record Magazine) is via the electrical contacts underneath the Carriage Assembly that ground-out the Magazine Motor. In other words, your RO only "knows" where to stop because there is an electrical connection being made here, and without this connection, the Magazine doesn't "know" where to stop. At all. Period! It could run back and forth forever, or....heck, it could stop and "index" on one of the Record Dividers, for all it cares. (Don't ask me how I know this.) I know that all of your Selector Levers are "in" (in the Off position), but for some reason your Magazine Motor is being told to stop...AND AT THE CORRECT INDEX LOCATION....and the only place this happens is here. (Maybe your Cancel Plungers are stuck "out", I don't know).
If you haven't seen my Blog, check out this post, as it may help:

With regards to"....and keeps repeating that", that's an electrical issue that could be a couple different things. Your first issue is figuring out why it's playing records that haven't been selected.
Good luck!
Jim
Thank you
Hi Jim, How does the selections work for the Carriage assembly to find them. What makes the levers push to the side? My buttons 1-6 are working but anything after that is not working and when I watch the carriage area, the levers are not being pushed over. What can I do to fix that?
How do you clean the contacts on the selector pins inside the selector drum on a 1448?
Jim, great videos. Have you any on AMI I,J with same in-depth instruction. I like the basic approach assuming viewer is not an expert. Very good.
Des,
Thank you for the comments! Other than Rockola models 1452 and 1448, my knowledge base is next to "nil", as the 1448/1452 models are the only ones I own. However, if you have questions on your AMI, two places you may find help (if you're not aware) are: "jukebox mailing list" (Google it), or Ron Rich's "Jukebox Addicts" forum (jukeboxaddicts.proboards.com/). There are some very knowledgeable people at either/both of these places, so....Good Luck!
Jim
Cool
Do you have Video of R 1452 gripper dissssemb
I have a 1448 that I need to take apart
Ampy,
I don't have a "disassembly" video, no. However, I have a Blog post showing how to put one together, and I suppose you could follow that "backwards", more or less....
