Finally, a DIY vid I can relate to! I've spent many a freezing night under my cars to fix something. Just last week, I spent 3 days on a 1-hour job due to some inaccessible loosened and thus spinning nuts in the strut tower. Things happen, as you have expertly shown. And now I want some power flex too.
Could you just pop everything back towhther without torquing to spec the rear axle? Or would that be a massive no. I domt own a torque wrnech ao i was wondering whether you reckon i could get away with feel
Just got some of these for mine. Great channel mate ! Another tip fit some OIL rear shock absorbers (kyb) they handle so much better on oil shocks over gas . (They come with gas from factory)
Well followed your video which was good but the bushes I got for same car where a pig to go in no way where they going in by hand, had to burr them down and use a puller what a job.
I've got an old Fusion and looks like I'll need new bushes. Wasn't sure if I'd be able to just drop the front of the axle so that vid was really handy! Nice one 👍🏻 I might still get that tool, I can turn it down a bit on the lathe at work if need be. Is there a link?
This is exatly what happened to me on my Street Ka. Tried to replace with same Ford bushes, then Bilstein ones - couldn't manage it in situ with the tool. Stripped the threads, Bent the G clamp. Got Powerflex bushes, pefect fit, no time at all. Kicking myself I wasted time and money with the previous two - Don't, Spend extra and go to Powerflex straight away.
If it helps anyone. Drop the axel using by undoing the 3 clamp bolts either side and then grind off the nuts holding the bush in 90 seconds with a grinder.
From memory the OEM style ones came with bolts but I’ve checked the part number and it should be 1513401 That number may have been superseded but you should be able to use that to find what you’re looking for 🤞🏻👍🏻
Hi just a quick couple of comments, but if you have a look at the instructions that came with the bushes you might notice that you have fitted the bushes in the wrong way, the big lip is supposed to be on the outside of the axle and also when removing the old ones they also have a similar lip on the outside of the axle which might explain why you had so many problems with the tools, trying to push it out the wrong direction?
Hi, thanks for your comment but I don’t see how you think they’re the wrong way round. They go back in the same way as the OEM ones come out which is with the lip on the inside. I pushed the OEM bushes out the right way (in hindsight, if I was to do it again I’d drill the centres out and cut the outer plastic sleeve). But if you check Powerflex’s website, you’ll see that for the MK6, I have fitted these correctly: www.powerflexsuspensionbushes.co.uk/powerflex-rear-beam-mounting-bush-pfr19-1105-for-ford-fiesta-mk6-inc-st-2002-2008-89159-p.asp
Sorry it was my own mistake, i was searching for the Mk VII, which has the bushes the other way round, but your vid popped up, I think I must be a bit senile or something. 😓
Did this solve your knocking issue? Iv replaced most of the underside on my Grande Punto but not the bushes yet! Thanks for this vid, power flex is the way to go👍🏻
Not so much knocking, but it stopped the back end skipping around when I hit bumps, especially when turning 👍🏻 thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it/found it useful
Please don’t jack an axle like that in the middle to raise the car it made me Cringe you could distort the axle bud, only do it on a rwd car with a diff great video though buddy as always 👊🏻
Loads of cabin vibration from my engine. Should I buy these power flow inserts for engine and lower gear box mounts? My mechanic said the ride will get stiffer which I don’t want. Looking to reduce vibration.
Thank you buddy 👍🏻 front bushes are here ready to go in 😉 but need to find the time to pull it all apart so it’s gonna be a few weeks yet but it is coming 👌🏻
@@robsmith7430 You're right, you grease the metal sleeve. The reason being is it acts like a hinge. Without the PTFE grease, it would eventually get dry and start to potentially squeak. PTFE is waterproof and should prevent this. Although you're supposed to replace the grease every 5 years.
Hello mate, just got a quick question. My car feels floaty and feels like its being pushed around by the wind on the motorway. The car also squirells under hard braking and feels like the back is kicking out. Did your bad rear axle bushes feel like this? I have literally replaced everything apart from the rear axle bushes. Mine do look perished with loads of little cracks. Cheers 👍🏻
@@MendItModIt I found there more stiffer planted in a way plus being poly they don’t degrade like rubber does over time it’s exspensive to replace all bushings anti roll bar wishbones etc but future proofs in long run imagine how many wishbones and axle bushes get brought up on mot rather has a advisory or worse fail so in my opinion win win over years of pot holes prematurely degrade suspension parts 👍🏻👍🏻
Hi, I was looking at buying these and the lower gearbox and engine mounts as there’s loads of vibration in the cabin. Do these make the ride stiffer or better? Thanks.
I mean I wouldn’t say they’re noticeably stiffer, I know they do the “black series” which are marketed for track use so they might be the ones if you’re looking for a stiffer ride. ThatFrozenFez will be your man to ask, he’s a MK6 wizard 🧙🏼♂️

Hello, I'm French and I really like the channel. do you know where i can buy oil pan baffles please? I can't find that in France. thank you. best wishes
I’m not sure sorry, I’ve never looked into them. Hopefully someone else will see your comment and let you know. You could try asking on one of the Facebook groups 👍🏻
This video shows how difficult it is to get these rear bushes out. They are a nightmare. A big fail by Ford with these bushes and all the agro to remove them. Even the pros hate doing them. I am told the best procedure is use a hole saw to cut the centre of the bush out then saw then hacksaw the outer bush, or chisle it out. But as for putting in new bushes, who knows, look at the damage done to the ordinary bushes! Should people really have to buy Powerflex bushes?
I agree the hand tool method to remove them is more controlled and performs better than the special tool you can buy to remove them and like you say another cock up by Ford once again just like so many fiesta issues i have found on mine .
Sorry man, tbf maybe if you drill/cut the oem bushes out you could use the tool to wind the new ones in. I found the tool bent because of how firm the originals were in there. Are you looking to put polybushes in or OEM replacements?
@@Nyle95 in that case I’d save your money and don’t buy the tool, there’s a video of a guy doing bushes on a MK7 and he just cuts them out, same setup as the MK6 so I’d just do that to remove them as polybushes slide right in
With the extractor you do not do what you did in the video. You do not keep constantly turning a ratchet like you did. The heat build up in threads due to the loading will destroy them. If you use an extractor you do half a turn and wait or even back off an 1/8 of a turn and then do half a turn again and stop for a second or so. Just stopping turning for a second or so lets the heat dissipate and the extractor works without stripping the threads. Slow and easy is the way.
FCK that tool , get a good drill and make holes in the rubber ,i use a gas torch heat the rubber and pull the centre out ,, that bush tool is ok for fitting the new bush not removing it , if the bolts are a pain in the arse to get off ,i use an angle grinder to cut through the nut

It’s always the way. Should be two times given for every job
1) how long it should take
2) how long it actually takes in the real world 😂
Don't need to torque powerflex in the loaded position as they don't have any torsional load, good habit to get into though! 👍
I did wonder, after I torqued they just wobbled about wherever and I was just like 🤔 thanks tho buddy 😁

Do you have no. of this shock absorbers?
I would have cleaned the rust off everything, unbolted the hangers, took the axle off, derust it, repaint, looks so much better 👍
Top Tip… apply a little PTFE Tape to the metal pin and twist it into place to stop them squeaking years down the line 🤝🏻
This is an awesome video! You’ve completely sold them to me, keep up the good work!
I can’t wait to get the rest 🙌🏻
Rewatched for the torque specs 👍👍 thankyou! Now to find a torque wrench that'll take me up to 125nm. 🤦♂️
