PTX doesn’t get much (if any) radio play, so they’re under-marketed. Despite that, they formed in 2011 and have worked hard to become mainstream artists - and they have succeeded. They have 3 Grammies (Daft Punk, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, & Jolene ft Dolly Parton), are multi-platinum, and have 18 million+ subscribers here on RUclips. They have have both covers and original music (roughly 1/3 of their songs are original), and they span a wide variety of musical genres, all while being 95% a cappella (the other 5% is when the beatboxer plays cello as well).

They have covers from full instrumentals ( Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy), to EDM ( Daft Punk) , to country ( Jolene featuring Dolly Parton) . Incidentally, all three of those received Grammies. 😄. Can’t wait to see you check out more! Happy Birthday Lindsay.

Whoa, we are going to have fun! The discovery of this astonishing group--song-by-song--was such a joyful and emotional adventure for me, and I will enjoy reliving it vicariously through you.
Everything they've done is first-class. The talent among them blows my mind. The three in the center--Kirstin, Scott, and Mitch--went to high school together in Texas. Seriously, what are the odds of three vocalists of that caliber meeting in one school?
I have so many conflicting opinions on which song I'd recommend you do next, so I won't even try. You absolutely can't go wrong with any one you select, but it is a rabbit hole that can suck you in...

I am so surprised to hear that you hadn't reacted to Pentatonix yet. You've stepped in it and now are you ready to go down the Pentatonix rabbit hole. Must listens are Hallelujah, Imagine, Daft Punk medley, Marry Did You Know and Bohemian Rhapsody. If you aren't familiar with Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, listen to that before you listen to Pentatonix cover so that you can really appreciate how special Pentatonix is. Also, if you do more Pentatonix songs you will get a bunch more subscribers from the Pentaholics who love to watch reactors discover the wonder that is Pentatonix.

(Cue Rod Serling voice) You are about to enter another dimension. A dimension of sight and sound and mind. At the signpost up ahead, your next stop, the Pentatonix rabbit hole! Great reaction, always fun to see new folks discover Pentatonix (PTX for short).
You are going to be flooded by avid PTX fans (who call themselves Pentaholics) who love watching reactions. You will get many suggestions from their extensive catalog, both covers and originals. Frankly, pick ANYTHING they do and you won’t be disappointed.
A little background on PTX, of the five of them, three of them, the tall blonde guy, Scott Hoying (baritone), the young lady, Kirstin (or Kirstie) Maldonado (mezzo-soprano), and the guy with the dark hair and high voice, Mitch Grassi (counter-tenor), are originally from Arlington Texas and have known each other since childhood and sang together in high school.
In 2011, NBC had a singing competition called “The Sing Off” where a-cappella groups competed against each other and one was eliminated each week. Scott wanted to compete, but they needed 5 people, so they met a fourth member, Avi Kaplan, a classically trained bass singer, through a friend and he joined (he is in many videos and has a beard, but personal reasons caused him to amicably leave the group in 2017). Before Avi left, he helped find his replacement, an equally talented base singer, Matt Sallee, who is in the current group in this video. That has been the only change in the lineup. If you begin to watch their earlier videos, you will barely recognize Mitch, he lost a lot of weight, and changes his look often, as does Kirstie.
Scott discovered their fifth member, beatboxer/cellist/vocalist (tenor) Kevin Olusola, on RUclips where he was “celloboxing” or beat boxing while playing the cello. Because of schedules, they didn’t meet until just a few days before the competition began, yet they went on to win the show.
They won a recording contract as part of the show prize, but 2 weeks into it, the label dropped them feeling like an a-cappella group was not marketable. Refusing to be discouraged, PTX began a RUclips channel and from that channel garnered millions of world-wide fans, went on to world tours, put out multiple albums, including wildly successful Christmas albums, hit the #1 spot on the Billboard chart, almost always in the top ten, and have to date won 3 Grammy Awards.
They do all their own beats. No instruments are used with the exception of several videos where Kevin plays the cello and some collaborations with violinist Lindsey Sterling. They do not use multi-tracking, auto-tune or any studio tricks. Everything they have on video, they perform exactly the same live.
All their Sing Off performances are on RUclips, watching them will give you their story, and show you how they have evolved into, IMO, the best a-cappella group in the world right now. Welcome to the PTX experience.

Welcome to the new world of a capella. Pentatonix and Home Free have rewritten the book on a capella worldwide. All of the suggestions for more songs to listen to are great. Pentatonix has 3 Grammys, one for their "Daft Punk Medley" (Daft Punk) which you listened to, one for their "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" (Tchaikovsky), and one for basically being Dolly Parton's backup band(?) on "Jolene". Also, try "Hallelujah" (Leonard Cohen), "Imagine" (John Lennon), "Bohemian Rhapsody" (Queen), "Mad World" (Tears for Fears), and of course, any of their Christmas music. For Home Free may I recommend their "Man of Constant Sorrow", "Ring of Fire" (Johnny Cash), and my favorite, "Helplessly Hoping" (Crosby, Stills & Nash) (and then a quarantined Italian Youth Choir's cover of Home Free's arrangement).

Just to give you a heads up, all of the members are founding members except Matt ( the guy on the far left). Oh babe! When you said you want them to react to all your favourite songs...I guarantee that they probably already have somewhere down the line. These guys have a HUUUGE catalogue with so many songs. I only discovered them myself about a year & a half ago. My first one of theirs was Hallelujah & I was bloooowwwwn awaaaaay!!! I was the same as you...like, where the freak have I been?! I guess they're not as big over here in the UK as the US & other places, but even so I felt like I'd been cheated. Lol! New sub here! I'm here for more PTX. You really have dived into a crazy rabbit hole with this group. Unless you see an instrument, there are none. Kevin is the instruments. At this point, I question if Kev has actually ever been human or whether he just ate a lot of drumkits & sound tech. Lol! Matt is the bass singer, (or Avi, the previous bass who left, depending on what song you're listening too). They are the whole backbone of the group being percussion & bass. It's what help gives PTX their unique sound. Mitch, the little guy with the high tenor voice, Scott, the tall blonde baritone guy & Kirstie, the beautiful mezzo-soprano are just insaaaane with vocals. And you're right, they are ridiculously in-sync with each other. They've been doing this a while now & they're just all made for each other. Scott & Mitch have their own RUclips channel called Superfruit & they do funny stuff, medleys & even originals on there. PTX has originals too, not just covers. Man, you wait till you really dive in. Daft Punk Medley & their own original, Love Again will floor you. Like, jeez, there are way too many to possibly fill you in on. You just need to dive in dwatch for yourself. Cannot wait to see more. They have been releasing new stuff lately too & an E.P.called At Home with some covers. Love seeing first time reactors soooo much! It's like experiencing them for the first time all over again.
    🙏❤️

You really want to lose your mind, watch their Daft Punk Medley, then realize they don't record anything they can't perform exactly the same live, and there are no effects or autotune. And try convincing yourself there is NOT a kick drum and synthesizers in it.

My church only does music for worship this way. Nothing will stir your soul like a huge room of voices singing hymns with just voices. (I realize this might be odd for many who grew up in different denominations).

You start reacting to Pentatonix more and you will see your subscriptions jump up! Pentaholics are very supportive to the reactors who play their music.

You need to check out Simon and Garfunkel. Paul Simon wrote Sound of Silence. They had so many good songs in the late 1960 and early 70's. Check out Bridge Over Troubled Waters and 59th St Bridge Song. The PTX cover is fantastic.

if you like this, you should check out the groups Home Free and Voice Play. I'd recommend the songs "Man of Constant Sorrow" and "Oogie Boogie Song," respectively. Those two and Pentatonix are all incredible acappella bands, and those two songs are amazing compositions.
