Drove down there a few times , on the sea front at Lee approx in the middle , there used to be a big Hotel Pub , it seems to have gone now , carnt remember the name , they where big on carvery`s ..?? is that where that block of flats is now ?
Rich cove The one I am thinking of was a hotel pub , and they must have knocked it down to build some flats ..more or less on a straight line from Bridgemary on the sea front , big place , still trying to rack the old brain for the name of it ..you walked across the road straight on to the beach ...mind its nearly 30 years since I left down there .DAve
I missed this one I guess because of vacation. It looked like a beautiful day at least. lots of people out and about though it was cold. Glad to see the Shell station. At the start of the video, you showed the world's smallest RV and never mentioned it!
loved watching this video, currently living in Melbourne, so it was great seeing Lee, where our family still live. You should visit the Hovercraft Museum, it is really. Interesting, go before the new development takes place and it gets moved or closed down! Thanks for the video, Christine
Hey Christine thanks very much for watching and commenting. Glad you enjoyed the drive and thanks for the advice about visiting the hovercraft. I am aware about the new development but had no idea that they might relocate or even close them down.. If there is local place in Lee you would like me to film let me know and I will take a drive up that street. Thanks again and have a great week down under...
Good vid and a reminder of home... I come from Lee on Solent. I was always lead to believe Gosport was so called because someone said of it 'God's port'? Never heard of goose port??
There are a few suggestions as to how Gosport got it's name: God's Port, our haven which is on the town crest, after Henry of Lois was saved during a storm by the miraculous appearance of a sheltered port I bout,1140...this is thought to be a 19th century invention. Goose Port, due to the goose fairs granted to the town in the 13th century or the wild geese that inhabited the heathland Gorse Port, due to the gorse that covered the heathland...thought to be unlikely as gorse was commonly referred to as furze in the area. Gosport appears on maps in the 1200s usually as Goseport and, apparently Gose is old English spelling of goose.
@@coling7819 they didn't change the name. It was created as Lee on the Solent in the 19th century. I've definitely seen it marked as such on a map from the late 1800s.

Glad you watched... That RV is the normal size for the UK... thats why I never said anything, they are nothing special in this country.

I'm here right now
Get there quick to the hovercraft. They are about to scrap them
Teddy Bass oh no.... do you know when?
+Rich cove not sure, it was a rumor I heard. Because they are selling the land off. It is an enterprise zone. I could be wrong
Teddy Bass cool thanks for the info!
Hovercraft are still there, haven't heard of any plans to scrap them.
