Fun fact: the shark/frog man emblem is actually a variation on the South Korean Marine Force Recon emblem, which features a frog man riding or gipping onto a shark. I can confirm some form of variation of that emblem was used from the 1990s up to around 2015.

Now North Korean uniforms are the same as what East German uniforms used to be rare at least when covid hit because before covid Chinese people would smuggle out the uniforms through the Border jack up the prices and sell them to westerners on eBay they were quite common maybe for 300 bucks you could get one jacket pants and cap now after the Border close due to covid the Border has reopened again slightly but the flow of uniforms is quite slow but now the people that have them in the west jack up the prices to thousands of dollars for uniform it's ridiculous

For as shit as Die Another Day is, the opening scene in North Korea, and the scenes of Bond being held captive are pretty damn good actually. Cool to see that's the costume department at least put some thought into these uniforms too
Yes, they even managed to shoot a hovercraft chase with high-speed turns and not look stupid to the casual movie goer. And I liked that fencing scene too. And Rosamund Pike. And you can say many bad things about this movie, but it's certainly not boring.
I actually like that one. It's not as great as the others, but since my first Bond movie was One world is not enough (to this day it's probably my favourite one), then this seemed just a tiny bit more sci-fi-esque. Besides I was a kid, I didn't think twice about a guy having diamonds in his face. And considering I grew up with it, now I just don't mind those details. The only thing I really dislike now is pretty much everything about the main bad guy, including that stupid suit.
Dam! I got one of the jackets with the fur collar and liner many years back, at a place in London that was doing a sale of old military costume props. I remember some things there where real military uniforms that had been used, while others were quite clearly just made for film or TV and were often of less than stellar quality shall we say. From memory, there was a fixed charge for items, something along the lines of £20 for any one item of clothing (jacket, shirt, trousers) and £10 for things like helmets, mock grenades, and other types of accessories. I picked this up this jacket as I liked the look of the camo and that it had a quality feel to it, so much so that I thought for many years that it was a real piece of military uniform that the film’s prop department had just stuck some Korean patches on (obvious prop quality) and stitched in an, what I believe to be, old German army parker liner before they switched the polyester one they use now. Either way, I should imagine that it will be worth a bit more than the £20 I paid for it back in the day.
Angels Costume House ... i had a bunch of military uniforms from them, still have a russian MVD police parka/trousers i'm told was used in a bond film (god knows which one) and also 'the jackal' with bruce willis
@@neil_castell That was the place, didn't remember what the place was called when I posted. I picked up a set of prop Soviet KLMK camo when I was there too, but it wasn't very good in both quality and look. But hey, I got it all the same.
I had an original North Korean Offcier Uniform before I sold it. One thing I can say is that the uniform is surprisingly comfortable and the visor cap is pretty well made.
Suggest Kong:Skull Island for a future episode if you’re looking for a good cross over between movie universes and trying to replicate historical uniforms (in degrees of effectiveness).
I like how they wanted to imitate North Korean uniforms instead of taking a shortcut by using some Chinese or Soviet/Russian uniforms. This makes me always immediately think of North Korea when I see the soldiers in this movie.
In regards to the metal hangers…have fun trying to hang up your combat kit that weighs 50 pounds on a plastic hanger in a wall locker or uniform cubby.

I was a screen seen extra in a movie called “ Saints and Soldiers “. I still have my Waffen SS uniform and camouflage as seen in the movie…. Does this mean I can technically charge a premium for everything if I ever decide to sell it ? 😛
Making that remake worse is they badly were trying to cover up the blatantly obvious intent of it being the PRC not DPRK. The Homeland games do that to.

Brosnan's Bonds might me shit. But for me he is the best actor who played the role. He's just perfect fit for it. When I read the books I always felt like the Bond from books was Pierce. Too bad from his films only Goldeneye is decent.
