Thank you, this works for me and feels good. I use both fingers in a rather loose grip. The fingers also help aligning forearm and puttershaft which made me master my bullseye putter. Greatings from Germany, i watch all your vids.

Mike, So glad to have found this video, I gave up golf over fifteen years ago after getting down to a 6 Index, so I retired and took up golf again and have been struggling with the putting. after watching this video it hit me that I also had used the finger down the shaft and started using this grip, wow the old putting stroke is back and I'm on my way to being better than a 6.

This is the grip (both fingers down the shaft) I us all the time, then I see your video, and it reassures me, I made a good choice, even when people say your grip is wrong.

So weird so I searched review for Axglo putter grip. This was at the top with a vague heading I thought cool I bought a decent grip. Turns out though I've naturally been doing this grip myself! I find it has helped me be extremely accurate with my putts. So as someone who puts this way right hand dominant give it s try I'm in complete agreement.

As a shooter and a golfer, eye dominance plays a great part in pointing at (and hitting) a target accurately.
Point at an object a distance away then close each eye to see which one lines up with your finger. This will determine your eye dominance.

I used this in high school golf and 5 years later I still do this

Mike is reading my mind. I've been trying to break myself of this habit, but it's OK!!! That's the lesson. Anything that makes the ball go in more is OK!!

Putting grips ... I must have tried them all.
They say there’s nothing new in golf but I reckon I’ve invented a few new ways of holding the putter trying to achieve a good stroke.
My grip now is left below right with both index fingers against the shaft and right thumb over left.
    It’s difficult to describe.
Any way it seems a fairly stable, naturalish grip.

I have always done this. Now I know why. Make perfect sense.

What about the hand position or a left handed golfer

I also use both index fingers down the shaft, and putting is strongest part of my game...rarely 3 put.

If the left index finger is stronger, perhaps one should consider putting lefty. Please let me know what you think.

People, Mike is right. Two of the best putters did this: Mark McNulty and Nancy Lopez. And of the new people, Brooks Koepka. When Craig Stadler was winning tournaments, he did so too. So you'd be in good company.

Weird, my uncle told me to put my finger down the shaft to putt better. He was the only one I knew who did it.

I was mocked for the index finger on a left hand low grip. “What pro do you see using a grip like that?!” I was right!

Me too! One time I was at the practice green a dude told me that my left index finger shouldn’t point down( cause I’m a lefty) and said that wasn’t the proper way for putting. He told me to hold it like a normal swinging grip which felt kinda weird at first but it actually felt quite nice then, but without my index finger pointing towards the target I tend to pull my putts and missed a bunch of putt in less than five feet. Should I go back to my original grip or try to straighten my putts with the new grip?

  • @michaelritchie1385

The problem is that this grip often leads to a wristy putting stroke.

    • @golflife
      @golflife  Год назад

It might, however, Mike is very much a proponent of feeling your hands and learning to control your hands for different results in the swing. So it stands to reason that his putting advice is similar, so here he uses the dominate hand / finger to feel the face through the ball or get the face back to square.
