I've got a couple of the original 1203 models and man...the main gripe I have is how dang LOUD they are. This one seems no different. YEESH. They are indeed zippy fun though. I threw an FPC cam in one...that's an interesting experience.

GREAT Christmas humor today, Phil!!!!!! Good to see the wing on the back for greater traction. The previous version you tested, and many of us were dumb enough to buy, needed weight in the front. This one had better be better as it's double the original one's price.
I love my original one! All it needed, was a chunk of lead in the front and a 1:12 scale van body to make it enough fun for me. Brent from Adventure Time RC gave his a great deal of extra traction by glueing extra lugs, cut from 6mm petrol hose, to his tracks, and that made it really capable.
@@Del350K4 The thing you cannot do with the original one is put the metal tracks on. They would eat the wheels and sprockets for lunch!

But I don't run mine in mud or snow so I don't miss having metal tracks.
I would like another of the first-gen ones to build a half-track. I "wonder whether they're still available; these new ones are too expensive for me to buy one just to hack it up and turn it into something else!

Stonk spray is the best!! You should get the Nikko velocitrack, yes it is definitely a toy(and cheap), but i have sent it to hell and back and it is still performing surprisingly well!!!

I think you first one died when you put the metal tracks on it. I have one of the first tanks. The power appears the same. The rubber tracks have very little grip, but the metal tracks eat the rollers that the tracks ride on. I follow the channel regularly. Looking forward to the next installment of your lunchbox build. Curious if you've ever considered a Clodbuster?

I wonder what you could do to make it more water accessible. Maybe some closed cell foam on the bottom? It would be nice if they had a little more paddle on the treads for traction. I bet you could hot glue some little paddles to it... That would be better than super glue for being able to revert back to original form. Thinking about buying the one at my local RadioShack now, just to try it. We have about 6" of snow on the ground here in Bozeman, MT, so hard to play with the regular ones, and I don't know if I want to pay for the TRX4 tracks. Maybe the ski kit would be better?
