He once said: “The Fonz was everything I wasn’t, but everything I wanted to be." I beg to differ, a solid marriage, loyal friend, involved in umpteen charities and an all round good guy whose career has had incredible longevity.
I met him once and he was such a gracious guy. He put his hand out to shake mine and I did of course and I didn't do the Ayyyyyy thing that everyone probably does that encounters him but instead thanked him for all of the memories of the show and making my youth a wonderful thing with the show.
@@theprinceoftides6836 I met him in Boston a few years back. He is just the nicest man ever. I held the door open for him at the Green Dragon. He told me how nice it was to meet me after we exchanged some pleasantries.
I met him several years ago at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse. I had a picture taken with him, and he told me to check the picture to make sure I liked it. He looked at it and said to take another...and there were about a hundred people waiting in line. What a kind man, and a true class act.
Had my picture taken with him at a Fan Expo in Denver, when he was at the table he was walking out and greeting people there to meet him. Super nice and very humble!
I tell you what's incredible. Most of the Hollywood stars look much older than their age because the life really ages you as acting is very hard work, but they all still look great for their age! Ron Howard still has that all American wholesome face and Danny Most and Anson Williams also aged well. But Henry Winkler and the rest should be proud that they all did family shows instead of the filth that Hollywood put out and continues to do.
He really is the coolest guy ever. He once told me he lives with gratitude and tenacity. Gratitude because it prevents him from getting angry and frustrated and tenacity because it gets him to where he wants to be in life. Beautiful!
Henry Winkler is from a era of Hollywood that sadly is starting to come to an end... I met him years ago at a charity fundraiser and he was at our table and I spent the whole night just talking to him and his lovely wife... He is such a nice person... I should say they're a very nice couple... I have been around several Hollywood actors in my career and many of them can take a lesson in class from Henry...
He is amazing, and he grew up in a very abusive environment all the way to his 20s because he has severe dyslexia. His family use to assume he was mentally retarded and when he would do movies or TV shows he needed someone to read the script to him and look at him now, he's incredibly literate when he speaks
@The Steel2011: True words my friend. I did stunt work right out of high school on several Hollywood movies right up until my friends & neighbors selected me to represent them in the Armed Forces of the United States..... in other words, I was drafted. Truly one of the nicest person you'd ever want to meet, as was his wife. It's obvious Mr.Winkler is one of the nice guys.
Henry Winkler has always seemed like a down to earth guy. He is always grateful for any work (movies/TV) that is given to him. He doesn’t “expect” it because of who he is. He is so talented. I will always be a fan of his. ❤️
Nicest guy I've ever met. He was at an autograph signing once and before he began, he went up the line of people and thanked everyone that came to meet him. Plus, he stayed until everyone there got his autograph. Now that's class👍Aaaaaayyyyy👍
Met him in person, my coworkers and i actually moved Henry in 99 what a great person. Always asking if we were ok, if we had eaten or were thirsty. Thank you Henry for being so nice
I have always loved him..... growing up I suffered a few learning disabilities. It always got me down. Once in my special learning center class at age 14, my teacher read something. It was a pic of Henry with a statement. I wish I remembered all of it...but he told his story of suffering from dyslexia as a kid. He wrapped it up with saying that we are smart, and amazing kids and not to let our learning disabilities get us down. So, he’ll always have a special place in my heart!
I loved seeing the genuine happiness on his face when his friends popped up on screen to wish him well. Lifetime friendships are very special and they deserve the joy that that brings, they're all wonderful people!
My buddy lost his mom to cancer. They used to watch “Happy Days” for years and years. One day, Winkler came to his office in Hollywood. Someone in the office tipped Winkler off that my buddy grew up watching “Happy Days” and about his mom. Winkler gave him the “Eyyyy” and a hug. He seriously cried giving Winkler a hug, and Winkler was completely cool with it.
And i bet the friend woulda been cool if he had done the… “Eeeey, watch the jacket” bit. (In jest of course). I remember being all of 10? At the time and being obsessed with his Fonziness.
If you've ever seen click and seen him break down quietly as he walks away from his son and it doesn't break your heart. You might not have one. Lovely man.
He's great in Barry. I've never had an acting class or been even remotely interested in acting, but Winkler completely convinces me that he is one in the show.
I had the honor and privilege to meet Henry Winkler at the world of wheels show. That was back in 2009. One of the nicest guys you could ever meet. We talked for a good 20 minutes i’ll never forget that day.
I love him so much. He’s is such a quality human being. You will never find a person say a bad thing about him. His humour, his kindness, his thoughtfulness. Imagine how lucky his close friends and family are to have such a human in their lives
Wow I look at them now getting older just like the rest of us, and I remember all the good times they brought us through TV. They will always be a part of my childhood in a special place thanks for giving us your talents 🤗😁
I love that entire cast truly, heartfully love them all. the affection the emotion the family bond that they all have its absolutely astounding and amazing. Of all the shows ever I believe the cast of Happy Days is one of , MAYBE even the only where the living cast actually speak to each other on a normal basis , they do not wait on awards or ceremonies or special occasions they speak to each other with the same fervor as they did on the show.
I was almost sure Donny would end his sentence with “Even on the Golden Globe Awards Night, I still got it” with the nutty smile and a wink. Loved watching those four oh the early episodes of the Happy Days....good old days...👍👍🙏
For those not old enough to have been there when the Fonz dominated TV, there were several years in the 1970's when Henry Winkler was the most popular and powerful actor in television.
Henry Winkler is an American Icon and legend. So honored to have grown up with him and I actually dated a guy nicknamed "The Fonz" because he was totally cool and cruised in the baddest cars around. Man were those the coolest of times ever. America just doesn't know what they missed. Educate yourself kids...grandma and grandpa were actually cool as all get out!
I used to have a Happy Days lunchbox in kindergarten. I loved that show. I used to smack the picture of a jukebox on the side of it and start singing a tune. (1976-1977 or so)
Classy fella , helps others with his work raising awareness on Dyslexia for decades , and WINKS at my mum and makes her day / life , when he was in Pantomime in Milton Keynes , England back in 2014 , thank you for being a true gent , a happy days fan , and a happy son of a happy mother 👍👍👍🕺🕺🕺
His best scene in Happy Days was when he was camping in the woods. All the creatures of the night were making noise, keeping the Fonz awake. He opens one eye then the other. He sits up and say's '' COOL IT''. Every animal in the woods chilled out. The Fonz then say's...''Let me see Tarzan do that''.
That was good. But to me it was in the Christmas episode that Ritchie takes him home. His " Hey God, Thanks" blessing before the meal gets me every time.
Henry Winkler is my idol ever since Happy Days as the Fonz. I would love to see him as the Fonz again as an old man. Maybe have a son who is like him the way the Fonz was.
