Come, Christians, join to sing
Alleluia! Amen!
Loud praise to Christ our King;
Alleluia! Amen!
Let all, with heart and voice,
Before His throne rejoice;
Praise is His gracious choice.
Alleluia! Amen!
Come, lift your hearts on high,
Alleluia! Amen!
Let praises fill the sky;
Alleluia! Amen!
He is our Guide and Friend;
To us He'll condescend;
His love shall never end.
Alleluia! Amen!
Praise yet our Christ again,
Alleluia! Amen!
Life shall not end the strain;
Alleluia! Amen!
On heaven's blissful shore,
His goodness we'll adore,
Singing forevermore,
"Alleluia! Amen!"
Performed at "Join To Sing The Great Salvation" a worship service serving as the graduate conducting recital of Michael Devine for the Luther Seminary/St. Olaf College Master of Sacred Music program.

Absolutely beautiful music singing to the Lord our God! Praise Him!
I feel like i am in heaven already so nostalgic
Beautiful. It's disappointing to see so many empty seats. People should have been standing in the aisles to hear this.
Yes, listening to those trumpets call to us... It should be packed.

Hallelujah!!! Amen!!!!
This is beautiful indeed! Let God be praised!
I am so glad that I don't live within driving distance of this church because I would spend most of my time there. The music is so beautiful and the organist? Wow! If awesome were music, he'd be a symphony! I heard (and saw) the video of "Abide With Me" and it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so much for sharing this. So much appreciated!
Excellent brass and organ! Choir of course too-and even the congregation carries a tune quite well!

Beautiful, Heavenly music! Wonderful brass! Lovely choir!! So where are the people to fill all the empty seats seen here? What a shame!
Beloved hymn sung frequently in Nova Scotia in both Protestant and Catholic communities.
In Indonesia we have this song translated to Bahasa Indonesia, in Nyanyikanlah Kidung Baru NKB no. 1 - Hai Kristen, Nyanyilah
Translated by Tim Nyanyian GKI (Gereja Kristen Indonesia) 1990
A friend of mine and I arranged this hymn with eighth and sixteenth notes in A major for piano, organ and trumpet It works and is less ponderous
Less ponderous??
@@TheMrgoodmanners Perhaps a poor choice of words. I find the four-four time throughout to be wanting, and approached the meter differently. That does not disturb the original musicality yet introduces a bit of continuity to the phrasing,in my opinion.
Nice arrangement!
AMAZING
Beautiful. Sometimes sung at our church, First Presbyterian in Sao Paulo, Brazil (in Brazilian Portuguese).
Would you post the words in Portuguese?

Never tire of this beautiful hymn.This is played in a wonderful setting.
Great full
this was sang upon my birthday
Well done!!!
woow_!!" dolce all the way (Nairobi Kenya)
Oh come let's sing Ohio's praise
And songs to Alma Mater raise
While our hearts rebounding thrill
With joy which death alone can still
Summer's heat or winter's cold
The seasons pass the years will roll
Time and change will surely show
How firm thy friendship...
OHIO!
Do you know the other two verses?
@@padraicfanning7055“It is considered in the Sto Plains that only scoundrels know the second verse of their national anthem, since anyone spending time memorizing that would be up to no good purpose.”
― Terry Pratchett, Unseen Academicals
It stands to reason that the same would be true of college alma maters.
A.F. Whitepigeon I might be tempted to memorize and sing the fourth verse of the National anthem one day in front of a sporting crowd
If I am not mistaken, I believe the third line is "While our hearts resounding thrill" (minor point). Loved the video but cannot seem to find the arrangement available for purchase online.
Hallelujah, Amen.
Meow - the horns are fine.
Fantastic musicians, and a great arrangement of this hymn. Is this arrangement available in print?
That cutoff!
😌🙏
Hey just researched this arrangement and what do you know. Very well down, sir. Congrats on a great sound and excellent conducting.
Very beautiful piece... Please can I get the orchestra score for this hymn by the choir?
1:18
nice
Why all these long introductions to hymns known for their simplistic beauty ?
Indeed, they could be shorter
Agree 2 minute introduction?
@@helenquist3728 Agree! I’ll bet the congregation was saying, “Can we get on with it already??”
I sometimes listen to just the introduction because it's glorious!
The melody is not actually Spanish - the derivation is unknown. The Dutch call it 'Irish Tune,' and another commentary considers it Welsh.
Might as well call it "CARMEN OHIO", then.

the intro is 1:56 long? dang!
Joshua Miller we don’t even sings hymns that long at my Catholic Church, but I guess when music is all your Christian Community has, you have to make the most of it.
whatever makes you think music is all this congregation has ? ridiculous arrogant statement. let's not even get in to a discussion of all the unbiblical beliefs of the Catholic Church.
あ〜
This is a HYMN! Why no singing??
Just a long intro, bro.
@@Rumptertumskin79 Yes. A VERY long intro!!
Brutally long introduction.
I’m Catholic so when we sing hymns, we keep them as short as possible. People complain if we sing a recessional with four verses.
Agreed ... cut in half at least .. maybe two thirds.
Who is in such a hurry to be finished with the song?
@@davidhensley76 That's right. All we want is to hear about 20 seconds of it and then be done w/ it.
"Finishing" is the goal. That's all. Right? :o)
Now, .. do you truly believe that ?
I don't. And that was not the point (Above).
I suppose "perspective" and "preferences" should be mentioned here. Because some love singing along with this song for its traditional reverence and worship. And for that purpose, are not that impressed w/ all the pomp and proficient demonstration of the instruments before the actual worship song ... (and its theme and its invitation .. (to true believers) to worship Him.
Likewise, .. I suppose there be those who are more of the "music appreciation" crowd, who enjoy all the pomp and instrumentation.
Neither is "right" or "wrong" .. both are a matter of "preferences". Granted that.
15 to 30 seconds is more than adequate for a introduction or people could get impatient or lose interest. The introduction is a fantasy on the hymn tune in itself this could be a better description for the work.
Sorry, but the horns seem a bit out of tune?
Is the organ a pipe/digital combo? Being a trumpet player and playing in tons of churches with my quintet in the past, these can be a challenge as the separation in pitches from digital to pipe make slotting difficult at times. Not impossible.....just more difficult.
Yes! Crown Him Lord of all!
Rejoice, our God is King
Amen!
