Was genuinely hyped to see it return in Sunbreak, it always felt like a pretty underrated flagship to me. Had some of the coolest looking gear and one of the most unique armor skills too imo
Steve is one of my all-time favorites, I was so sad how dirty it was done in Sunbreak. Velkhana didn't get a new variation either, but at least Sunbreak was still part of its introductory generation, and then there's Malzeno getting a variation in the same game! My thought on a Seregios variant for a while has been "Windblade Seregios", an extremely experienced and honed Seregios who is so fast and so sharp is can weaponize the wind. Its bladescales would have slightly larger hitboxes, but if you get hit by the wind you're less likely to bleed. When it takes off it would sometimes create wind blades, for an ultimate attack it would soar around the arena incredibly fast, either creating a typhoon or randomly coming out of its own wind tunnel to slash at hunters with its talons a few times so quickly you couldn't see it, and so on. It is essentially Silverwind Nargacuga but Seregios... But this concept on a fast, erratic but precise monster such as Steve just makes sense to me
6:18 I could be blind here but did you forget to mention that in Sunbreak the self sharpening was changed to an armor skill and now based on dodging through attacks? You can self sharpen and auto reload for any weapon now.
@@_TzerCorrect, gen did indeed make it a skill for his armor set while also keeping it as an ability unique to his weapons. This is why it makes even less sense that Sunbreak removed the ability entirely. It’s fine that bladescale hone now works off of successful evasions but they could’ve kept his weapon gimmick the same as it was in previous games to make it even more unique.
A stellar video on my favourite monster and the best flying wyvern the games have to offer. I was also a bit underwhelmed with how Seregios was implemented in Sunbreak. Tbh I think reworking bleed to be more of a threat would really help make Seregios more of a threat and potentially can be used to a variant such as rajang and furious. The sharpness mechanic should also definitely return, such a missed opportunity. Hopefully wilds will bring it back and give it the love it deserves.
Thing about 5thGen is that they had to remake a ton of pre-existing assets from the 3ds games, which is why World barely has any good weapon designs (they didn't have enough time to make them all) while Rise managed better but still had to omit some. With a lot of the work already done they could potentially give Seregios his upgraded weapon in the next game
Seregios' fight in Sunbreak is basically only hurt by the heavy lack of unpredictability, which is odd, because returning monsters from pre-World to World were more unpredictable due to the generally better AI. I hope Wilds makes monsters do less combos, because Seregios' new additions to his moveset feel amazing, totally fair, and on brand for his style of flying and swooping. He just needs to not combo. Also they need to lower the amount of taunting after moves, something rampant in Sunbreak.
I think something neat for a Seregios variant (in Rise, anyway) would be something in his diet that changed him to be more erratic in a similar manner to the original, with the added benefit of a non-Blast status to his scales (Paralysis, perhaps) either alongside or replacing Bleed. Additionally, his scales would function similarly to the ones in 4U that linger. In regards to his moveset, the arc swipe returning would be nice as well as him having feign attacks. For example, his double kick would be turned into a triple kick where either one or two of the kicks has him push off the ground and backflip with wind pressure and/or flinch. Given his wings are used similarly to Astalos', it would also be neat for him to have the same feign attack gimmick but with wing slams and swipes like Malzeno does.
I mean, bleed definitely used to be more dangerous. But it was also so much more *annoying*. Honestly i think the sunbreak speed of recovery is great, but the damage probably needs to be amped up a bit. Also great video. I've been hyped for this for a while
It would've been awesome to have the feature to self resharpen in Sunbreak. Just like the 3 you explained. It even would be also cool for more features to be added for each weapon, like you can cause bleeding to monsters even if that's not possible, or cause exhaust with other weapons besides switch axe or stamina oil, but it's not possible that much. I'd be surprised if we get a tar weapon where you get a monster stuck in it instead of paralyzed
They also made it a lot harder to trip in GU. I think it only did so from its hindlegs when they break, whereas the 4U one would trip a lot. It's nice that it doesn't spend so much time one the ground there, although maybe it balanced its aggression a little Sunbreak Seregios is a bit slower than its older counterpart, which you could say for a couple other mons too. Weird since we have many more (movement) options now. It's still a pretty fun fight, and the bladescales remaining on the ground is neat, though it feels a little strange for some reason Edit: also the timestamps seem a bit messed up to me
I think a grounded variant of seregios would be interesting, maybe he could focus on his hands, slamming them into the ground so hard they get stuck, maybe he could also use steel scales using the dragon element? IDK seregios just needs a new form
A variant like that could probably work tbh. Maybe he would also still use his wings in a different way, like making big gusts of wind that propel his scales forward and creates an almost “homing-like” effect on them. Also, I think a seregios like this would likely be classified as a subspecies because I don’t know why a seregios would completely give up flying unless it was born that way.
I rather steve never have an element because that just goes against what steve is, maybe if a variant was basically a wounded steve who cant fly but its scales have become unable to explode so just getting hit by them makes you always bleed or receive massive knockback would be cool
@@Aegisdex Eh, that logic only really works for Nergigante, Seregios's uniqueness doesn't come from its mack of element. Honestly I would love a thunder Seregios that creates arcs of electricity with its scales or a fire version that ignites the scales with air friction. A no-element variant could totally work as well but I just feel like it's pointless for Capcom to restrict themselves.
Personally I adore both Seregios and he is my favorite monster, would have to refight it to remember exactly which one I prefer though. Also, you didn't mention that the sharpness gimmick is present but somewhat nerfed in the blade scale hone skill, where you have to roll through an attack to get the effect (which makes it funny to see a dodge fail but you still sharpen your weapon).
My favorite moment in 4U is that final high rank sequence with the Rusted Kushala and Apex Seregios in the Everwoods, specially the words of encouragement from the Caravaneer and other characters before you leave the base camp. Those actually boost your confidence, because the story and the characters are good so they get you invested And the Ace Cadet repeating the same thing his Commander did when he was his age, but this time not resulting in him getting wounded because the other Ace Hunters were there is beautiful and teaches us a lot about friendship
The fact that his Lance doesn’t flare out when unsheathed in Rise was a huge disappointment. As for the fight, I just wish that they would have made him less squishy. Considering he appears in the middle of G Rank, I think requiring white sharpness to hit certain parts would have been reasonable.
There's a mod for world that adds him in that will be releasing soon by the MHW Resurgence team (same people that did Abiorugu and both other Fatalises) It'd be a bit unorthodox, but given the lack of variations Steve has, that would've been a cool thing to add into the video just as something else to discuss.
I really like that team's mods but I wish they would replace less desired weapons/armors. White Fatalis replaces all of Alatreon's gear and I really don't get why. MHW modding limitations means you have to choose gear to replace, but you are free to edit the properties of that gear. They should have chosen something like Pukei Pukei's weapons and edited them into the White Fatalis gear cause no one that hasn't already beaten iceborne will be using these mods anyway.
@@elsienova4269 I believe all of the weapons have special effects that can only be used if they replace a wholly unique design, so no matter what you're going to lose something there. Either put it over a slap-on weapon and lose the EFX, or replace one of the unique designs the game does have. Regardless, it shouldn't be impossible to just put the new equipment over something else. The weapons might require a bit more finagling, but I believe the armor should be some simple file renaming and folder swapping if you want to put it over something else.
@@randomnpc445 That doesn't make sense though because weapon properties are not tied like that, as seen in the weapon slap on fix mod. Let me put it simply to show how it works. Each armor/weapon in Monster Hunter World has a specific index value to specify it and a few other basic index values tied to this. Monster Hunter World will not run at all if there any more or less index values than in the unmodded game. So let's say that the Tobi Kadachi long sword has an index number of 4 (the index number is super long but this is just an example). Monster Hunter World will not boot if that number isn't present in the game. Same if we were to add, say a gear with the index 12 when there are only 10 in the game. So whatever happens, modding cannot add or remove weapon index values, meaning that anything that "adds" something needs to replace something in the base game. HOWEVER, any and all other weapon properties can be modified without any worry. If we took the Tobi longsword and made it do 4000 damage, have 400 dragon damage, only purple sharpness, named it "baddragondildoxxx" and made it cost 99 fatalis eyes to make, and gave it an entirely new unique model with special VFX, World will not have any problem with that as long as the index for this weapon is still 4. This is why the slap on weapon design mode works.
@@elsienova4269 I haven't messed around with the full on weapon tree version of twjon's No More Slap On mod, I've only played with the version that essentially makes a base weapon invisible and replaces the part model with the actual weapon. So I can't personally verify what you're saying, I just know that's the reason that was cited for why the, say, custom Acidic Glavenus GS mod that came out back in the day couldn't have its EFX when placed over just any weapon. That being said, I hopped in the MHW Resurgence Team's Discord and saw that once they get their fifth monster out (the one after Steve), they're planning on working on a big modpack that implements their monsters into the game's progression more organically, so I'm guessing once they do that, you'll get your wish. They've already stated the only reason they have the new monsters' armor replacing existing sets is so it doesn't cause problems in multiplayer with people who don't have the mod. It sounds to me like they know how they could implement wholly new things without replacing something at all (or at least by just replacing something more inconsequential.)
Probably best that I stick with official stuff, although it's really cool that they're doing that! The Abio one seemed to use a lot of Glavenus and Deviljho animations, really cool how they took them and made something new. Considering how Seregios's attacks are so unique, it will probably be way harder for them to do, so if they can pull it off it will be really impressive.
Gotta appreciate Seregios for truly shaking up how monsters with the flying wyvern skeleton would operate from then on out, with Astalos and the 5th gen metal Raths following in his footsteps. I do feel like his presence as a monster kinda diminished after 4U though, even more than Gore's, especially after losing his invader status in GU and bleed no longer being unique to him (which isn't inherently a bad thing). And yeah, his Sunbreak incarnation, while still fun to fight (and gorgeous in HD), is kind of a sorry sight, what with the streamlining of his moveset and bleed being completely devoid of threat. And ohhh man those weapons... bladescale is sorely missed, and so are the seditious weapons... RIP Baraq Sedition, the GOAT Swax design. I'm gonna be honest though, I really don't think he needs any kind of variation, I think he's perfect the way he is. But I do like the idea of his Apex form getting made into a variant, considering it actually had story presence. Great monster, wish Sunbreak did him his due better.
Recently fought it in Rise and I got to say, one of my favorite monster to fight against. I'm a Insect glaive user, so usually fights go either "man this is easy" or "how let the intern program this hitboxes on the monsters attack?", but occasionally there are THE fights where the monster feel so well balanced that the hunt becomes so much exciting . The king of this was valstrax, it was so damn fun fighting him, like two predators trying to see who had the true aerial superiority. Seregios reignited that flame the moment he started leaping in the air, I clashed multiple times with him mid air with kinsect slash and down him some times, I even used the redirection skill perfectly against him. I got a little bummed out by the appearance and stats of the armor, but nevertheless one amazing monster to fight against. ❤️
Overall I’d say seregios is both my favorite flying wyvern and flagship, he has a very fun fighting style and his design is very nice, I do think they should bring back his 4U pin in future games as while the sunbreak one makes sense as it works with the wirebug, for games without that it would feel out of place at least to me, also idk why but I’ve never felt he needed a variation, he’s always been great how he is
Variants are cool because you get to fight harder, remixed versions of the original monster, as well as new spins on their armours and weapons. Gore was great but Chaotic existing makes him even cooler, same with Malzeno.
@@HeavyWings thats fair, idk I’d just want whatever they do make for Steve as a variation as I do think he’ll get one eventually to make proper sense and not just done for the sake of giving him a variation
And we didn't get a Seregios vs Rathalos/Rathian turf war either. Just like we didn't get Astalos turf war against the Raths, mainly Rathalos in this case.
I could see Seregios having Thunder Element, perhaps even Poison+Bleed sub-species. Thunder by having Seregios having little bit of fluff on its scales, when it rattles them fast enough they gain static charge that Seregios can shoot at its Foes. If target is Bleeding target also has Thunderblight until Bleed is removed. If target cannot be stunned it instead deals little bit of extra Thunder element damage when hit next time by Thunder charged blade from Seregios. Poison+Bleed would have gained different scales from food it eats or perhaps even eating some plants/minerals. It's scales now having minor poison(4 or 5 dmg every 5 second) on them, not only causing Bleed but Poison as well. When Seregios rattles its scales some dust is released when scales hit each other, leaving poison gas around Seregios for short time but next volley of blades it shoots also carry more potent poison (9, 10 or 13 dmg every 5 second).
Still astonished by the "SB Seregios is a downgrade" claim. Not yours specifically, a lot of people agree on you and i'm still confused : (forgetting the weapon part) i feel like the fight is a major upgrade and this may be due to the weapon choice, it rarely happens but sometime chosing the wrong weapon completely ruins a fight ( not looking at you World Kirin). I'm personnaly an IG main and both Steve and the IG got more aerial moves which for me made the fight almost personnal. You know that feeling when you're fighting the living incarnation of your weapon ? Kinda like LS vs Glavenus. Here that was IG vs Seregios, unlike old-gen version, he actually has a lot of diving moves, which is expected coming from him, which makes duel with an IG much more fluid and frightening as unlike most Sunbreak weapons, we don't have to wait the monster to counter it, nah we pursue it, yet it remains satisfying cuz you're trying to attack-dodge-follow it while Steve is kinda doing the same thing and both in the air which is incredibly cool given the right circumstances. Even without IG, i still thinks the SB fight is a lot more erratic, fluid and smooth.Seriously tho why an agile hunter quickly diving toward to its preys and harrassing them with the scales relied so much on trapping with scales and then boom you got one-shotted? I always thought the bleeding gimmick back in the day was cancerous cuz it could literally lock you and offered him a free hit which totally broke the pace of the fight ,maybe it's less challenging but i prefer an easier over a frustrating one.Btw I once got bleeded (that bastard somehow sniped me in the air with the scales) and all the "boring straightforward kicks" were all used as a way to chase me for almost 2 zones and it was both badass and threatening. I think many aspects of that monster given the context can change from boring to great. Also not even mentionning how gorgeous looking his animations are in SB, like seriously, pause during a fight with him and you will have a high chance of getting a sick-ass pose
They moved the dodge sharpening ability from the weapons to the armor. In all honesty though, the true Sunbreak travesty was not having the garangolm weapons be dual-element or at least water and blast
I was really surprised that the dual swords at least didn't have water. The main series games have that skill Free Element where you can have hidden elemental properties on weapons, if Garangolm was in World he probably would at least have hidden water.
The special weapon mechanic is not removed in Sunbreak, it is modified. It used to be that all you had to do to activate the self-sharpening property was dodge/roll with the weapon unsheathed. You could do this in or off combat witch made it practical if you somehow were out of wethstones but usually a slower option than sharpening like normal. This property lend itself well to combat without pauses, I would use Serigious weapons and refine them for health this would allow me to battle without pauses for sharpening or healing. In Sunbreak the mechanic is there but its requirement has changed, now you need to perfect evade an attack with the weapon drawn. This can be very chanllenging depending on the weapon and monster attack. Wide attacks are better defended because your roll does not have the coverage to avoid the whole attack and slow weapons like great sword you are better off sheathing and superman evading. For a time I played with the Serigious armor, the extra level for evade window and evade distance make it more managable to reliable use the weapon specialty but the whole setup is a huge Dps drop when compared to late game options. Level 3 evade distance is still relevant due to massive area monster attacks and ease of trablel.
I really wish they focused more on his grabbing attacks. I would've loved a mechanic where he could grab small monsters and throw them at you like in the cutscene from 4u. Each type of small monster could have different effects like genprey causing paralysis, rhenoplos doing more damage, etc.
Love pinecone bro. Always been one of my favourite monsters. I love how unique his movements are, love his fight, love how all his equipment looks. I still think the sunbreak version is great, even if I agree he isn't as good as he was in 4u. Poor guy really gets neglected by capcom though
I think Seregios not having a new variant or subspecies makes him special less is more with Seregios we need more monsters like him kept simple with no need for 3000 elemental super blow up attacks.
I'm not sure about his design, but I love how he's inspired by irl birds of prey and how much his attacks with talons resemble movements of falcons Also I really like his proportions and/or posture in Rise. Something just makes him look both big and kinda small at the same time 😅, tough and strong, but also nimble and quick ❤
About "giving him an element variant would be difficult" - Nargacuga also got a different version in Generations, with Silverwind Nargacuga having Bleed and him (at least from my experience) focussing on the bleeding player, making it difficult for them to recover. Even just a similar behavior change or another ailment on top of the bleed (like Poison or maybe Frenzy, for example) would make for a nice variant in my opinion.
Agree with everything. I haven't played GU but it looks like that is his best iteration so far. SB did him so dirty, it's criminal. An ice subspecies would fit nicely i think. Frost scales inflicting bleed and iceblight or maybe cause small frost puddles similar to velkhana
Imagine a Seregios subspecies with his scales laced with a sleeping agent. If you get hit, you will get a sleep status effect. I call this subspecies "Narcoleptist".
Generations also chamged the Hitzones, nerving the Leg Hitzones, and making the Head a Weakspot. This translated to Sunbreak. Cool you had the same Idea. Yeah a Variant, or maybe a Rarespecies evolving from the Apex Form would be cool. Seregios works very well whit the Virus. The Virus forces you to play agressive, but the Bleed means if you get hit, you waist more time, but the Moveset makes it fair.
Due to his main gimmick being Bleed it does make it difficult to make a variant or subspecies but my thoughts are maybe pull ideas from other unique attribute monsters. Like the exploding scales from that snake monster, or maybe take inspiration from Extreme Bleeding from Frontier.
They also gave Velkhana weapons a hidden ability to boost Frostcraft and Flaming Espinas weapons also have hidden poison ability while being Fire element.
@@lubbo5261 amatsu's weapons decrease wirebug skills time to regen, Primordial malzeno weapons increase regeneration of life from skills like blood rite and the blood blight.
Ah yes, my favorite monster in the whole series. Fun moveset, cool design, great theme song, awesome looking gear with a cool gimmick. I just wish the weapons felt more worth using in super late game after you acquire other weapons from monsters like Crimson Fatalis and the other elders. Seregios's weapons just don't feel as strong due to lack of element or status, and often slots too, but that might just be my perspective as a CB player, where Seregios's CB gets blown out of the water by C.Fatalis, Ceadeus, Kushala, etc. I have the GS too, which probably better because it can use the roll sharpening more, but I'd still rather use Stygian Zinogre and Chameleos' GS's more. Maybe I just need to make a set that works better for it. I would be down for Apex Seregios becoming a new subspecies or variant, maybe rename him to "Frenzied Seregios" to distinguish him. He could have frenzied pollen growing under his blade scales which could be worked into his ecology, and they could work in more black and purple into his design, plus give him some new moves. The combination with his natural gold color might also make him have parallels to Chaotic Gore Magala thematically, meaning you could do stuff like give his weapons a new special gimmick. Maybe not the negative/positive affinity of chaotic weapons, but something else. Maybe life steal as a callback to honing weapons for life steal in 4 Ultimate.
I like the idea of Apex Seregios coming back has a variant but maybe with a few tweeks. First they could change the name to "Frenzied Seregios" since the term "apex" seems to be getting thrown around a lot. Also since Seregios isn't an invader anymore they could give it to the variant, like Ebony Odogaron who wasn't Bazel or Jho levels of strength but was still a psychotic invader who was everywhere for some reason.
@HeavyWings with Wilds' supposedly bigger maps and its ability to seemingly hold WAY more than 3 monsters (see the pack of harag-likes), I think it could work fine. But some time of coded in program to prevent the same problem Iceborne had may be good too. Maybe like no more than 2 or 3 invaders in a locale at a time.
@@imthe_catman We still don't know if the sand harags are Large Monsters. I've seen a lot of people speculating because of their size but I'd like to remind you that Seltas is a Large Monster, and Larinoth is a small monster.
@@imthe_catman That’s a good point but we are basing this off of previous games. I’m not saying you’re wrong or I’m right, after all we only have one minute and a half teaser trailer that clarified literally nothing. I just think we should wait until we have more info to talk about whether they’re a large or small monster. I personally don’t think they’re large monsters because there’s 7 of them but no one knows anything for certain. It’s all just fun speculation
I think sunbreak Steve is way better he feels more like a predator his attacks have way more impact and his attacks are way more brutal than 4U. Also I think he would be absolutely perfect for what we have seen of wilds so far with the desert and the lighting maybe we could even see a Seregios sub species with lighting scales
I think variant would be an interesting take for seregios rather than subspecies since it can be found in mostly every region looking the same. I was thinking a variant like frostfang could fit him. A more expirienced chaotic individual (if this excluding the apex one)
The lack of consistent combo paths for OG Seregios is what also made OG Brachydios so threatening in my opinion, and 3U's Zinogre to a lesser degree, all 3 of these monsters eventually got an expanded move pool, which is cool at first, but because they eventually become so combo oriented it makes them very predictable, which takes away some of the danger they used to pose.
They removed the exploding scales in Sunbreak, so I was hoping they could introduce a variant that brings this feature back and does more with it. Maybe a Splintering Seregios that sheds his scales far more frequently and they explode like shrapnel. Though tbf this sounds like a bleed version of Bazelgeuse. They really downplayed their own flagship in their follow up game by making another monster so similar.
I remember being shocked and disappointed when I got my first tail cut on him, when I got it I saw no difference of the tail and was confused. Then when I found the spike on the ground I was like "THATS IT???" I was hoping for something meaty like Rathalos or Baselgease
I found out someone gave it a very deceptive shoulder tackle in g rank I was not impressed. he is the single greatest thing to come of the that MH1 desert. 1:55 you can also use the yukumo bathwater to cure bleed using the farcaster animation, but you won't gain your HP back or the immunizer effect of the poogie jerky. Honestly with how varied in terms of quality the variants of old to the variants of modern day are (This kut ku is just BLUE *prior to 4*) they have soooooooooooo much chaff on these variants, I'd rather one solid encounter, than one encounter that feels like it's missing things. It was nice to see him return in mhrs, but the removal of sharpen rolling, the overall better weaponry (I feel that kamura weapons of most classes are better) and the only way to obtain sharpen rolling being through heavy skillslot use made him fall well to the wayside even before DLC.
Personally i prefer the sunbreak itteration of seregios... however i am biased because it is the first version if him i did fight which i have a feeling might get me some negative comments soon. But i dont rlly care, hes my favourite flagship monster of them all and i hope he gets into mh wilds
@@HeavyWings That’s too bad considering Gypceros has likely had enough changes over the generations to make for a good video. Not to mention that if he still isn’t enough for the video, you could also cover Chramine from MHO because he’s pretty similar too.
Ok after watching the video, I can agree its a shame that the seregios weapons lost individuality (even if i use them myself) but it feels like sunbreak seregios was MADE to be fought in anomaly quests, his faster moves compensate for his lack of moves and his large healthbar make his fight more enjoyable and difficult I think SereGOAT doesnt really need a subspecies, since why should somebody change perfection ?
Kind of unrelated, but considering this video is about Seregios and I’ve been wanting to share this opinion for a while, I might as well say it: In a fight between Seregios and Astalos, I think Seregios would win a majority of the time.
I think Seregios is just fine without a subspecies, I mean so we really need a seregios that just shoots lightning or fire? Now that I think about it now, maybe inflicting poison would be cool. (Now I am just contradicting myself)
the mh4u detailed weapon animations and variations are missed. i’ve played world, and yet to play rise + sunbreak, but to hear the weapon details are lacking is taking away what i liked about monster hunter
His hidden weapon ability was turned into a Armor Skill for the Seregios armor, other weapons like Flaming Espinas weapons and Velkhana weapons have hidden abilitys in Sunbreak.
AMZING VIDEOS AS ALWAYS BUT IT WOULD BE DOPE TO GET A BAZELGUESE AMD SEREGIOS HYBRID MONSTER JUST THINK THINK OF THE CHAOS IT CAN HOLD AND CALIMITY IT WILL BRING

I feel really bad for Steve he's in my top 10 and I feel sunbreak gave him a downgrade, I think he's been made too massive and needs to be downsized, in my mind he should be a monster who cuts you down with lots of fast low damage attacks with mabye a few big moves and I'd love it if he could pick up smaller monsters like Genprey or Delex or even gendrome and throw them at you aswell as other players, I don't like him showing up in forest areas and the fact he never got a turf war with Rathain and rathalos is acutaly mad and he should be giving them in a world style game, I would personally like a metal bronze Seregios to match the gold and silver metal raths that just doubles down on his core strengths instead of just giving him some nonsensical elements
I think they actually put him in the forests purely so he could turf war with Gore Magala. A Rathalos one would have been nice though... Also the idea of him throwing smaller monsters is really cool, and has precedent too considering Deviljho!
He was only an invader in 4U specifically because Apex Seregios was forcing the others out from their main habitats. Once Apex was taken care of, they all kind of moved back. That's why in Gen and Rise he's in a few specific areas. I think Rise put him in the Shrine Ruins/Citadel so he could have a turf war with Gore Magala.
downgrade or not, i find his sunbreak version much MORE FUN TO FIGHT specifically, not better, but MORE FUN. Why? because 4u is great, except he’s too good, or, too fast. I just fought him in gu, and he was the most annoying little shit in existence, carted my g4 bloodbath twice. He was frankly too fast for old gen is my take, honestly you could just plop 4u Steve into Sunbreak and he’d feel very natural. My entire fight with him was just him smacking me in off angles repeatedly while trying to deal with bleed, it wasn’t fun. He did his job, and too well at that, but put him in Sunbreak where the hunters and camera can keep up? Great idea! The perfect steve would be 4u with Sunbreak addons like new moves and harder legs Also i much prefer big steve so you arent whiffing most of your hits, courtesy of yet another annoying gu steve hunt

I think that his weapons maybe should've had a built-in version of this new skill, keeping Seregios weapons unique in a new way.@@HeavyWings
i believe the armor in generations also made it an armor based skill but also kept the weapons themselves also innately having it.
Seregios aka Pinecone aka Steve aka The most neglected flagship. Hopefully he gets some love in Wilds with a subspecies or a variant.
Hopefully!
Doesn't Lagiacrus exist?
@@kennethsatria6607 unlike Seregios, Lagiacrus has a sub-species and a rare species and a lot of people clamoring for his eventual return.
That would be Gammoth, actually
@@marcelluslondon4762 oh yeah, but at least she gets a deviant and she’s synonymous with the Fated Four.
I mean, bleed definitely used to be more dangerous. But it was also so much more *annoying*. Honestly i think the sunbreak speed of recovery is great, but the damage probably needs to be amped up a bit.
Also great video. I've been hyped for this for a while
True that it was annoying! But to be honest, tons of things in Monster Hunter are/were annoying, the challenge was overcoming/negating those aspects.
It's funny you mentioned turning Apex Seregios as a subspecies, I did that for a Seregios Rare Species, Rabid Seregios
STEVE'S ARRIVED💯
STEEEEVE
It would've been awesome to have the feature to self resharpen in Sunbreak. Just like the 3 you explained. It even would be also cool for more features to be added for each weapon, like you can cause bleeding to monsters even if that's not possible, or cause exhaust with other weapons besides switch axe or stamina oil, but it's not possible that much. I'd be surprised if we get a tar weapon where you get a monster stuck in it instead of paralyzed
They also made it a lot harder to trip in GU. I think it only did so from its hindlegs when they break, whereas the 4U one would trip a lot. It's nice that it doesn't spend so much time one the ground there, although maybe it balanced its aggression a little
Sunbreak Seregios is a bit slower than its older counterpart, which you could say for a couple other mons too. Weird since we have many more (movement) options now. It's still a pretty fun fight, and the bladescales remaining on the ground is neat, though it feels a little strange for some reason
Edit: also the timestamps seem a bit messed up to me
What's your issue with the timestamps? I checked them and they're fine for me.
@@HeavyWings There is no timestamp for the SB changes, instead they are listed under Generations
My favorite flying wyvern 🙏
I did consider talking about Bladescale hone but decided against it because it's not really something specific to Seregios.
My favorite moment in 4U is that final high rank sequence with the Rusted Kushala and Apex Seregios in the Everwoods, specially the words of encouragement from the Caravaneer and other characters before you leave the base camp. Those actually boost your confidence, because the story and the characters are good so they get you invested
And the Ace Cadet repeating the same thing his Commander did when he was his age, but this time not resulting in him getting wounded because the other Ace Hunters were there is beautiful and teaches us a lot about friendship
The fact that his Lance doesn’t flare out when unsheathed in Rise was a huge disappointment. As for the fight, I just wish that they would have made him less squishy. Considering he appears in the middle of G Rank, I think requiring white sharpness to hit certain parts would have been reasonable.
Maybe yeah, like for his wings.
There's a mod for world that adds him in that will be releasing soon by the MHW Resurgence team (same people that did Abiorugu and both other Fatalises)
It'd be a bit unorthodox, but given the lack of variations Steve has, that would've been a cool thing to add into the video just as something else to discuss.
The forgotten flagship, no variants no subspecies but his sunbreak version is probably one of the best 5th gen remake monsters
Frenzy Seregios would have been a great variation maybe .
For those who do not know a mod of him will soon be made for monster hunter world by a mod team called the resurgence team
Would love to see your opinion about Frontier Steve.
Maybe when I fight him one day!
Sunbreak was a bit limited with it's turf wars although the ones we got are really good. I was a bit disappointed by Gore vs Seregios though
@@HeavyWings Are you talking about Sunbreak turf wars in general? Because Seregios only has turf wars with Gore as far as I'm aware.
Great timing, with Resurgence Steve coming out in Monday lol
That would have been cool for sure
I was really surprised that the dual swords at least didn't have water.
The main series games have that skill Free Element where you can have hidden elemental properties on weapons, if Garangolm was in World he probably would at least have hidden water.
Btw guys. Resurgence mod (mhw) of Seregios will be here next monday!
I'd say a variant can work, Tigrex is an even more simple monster with several variants.
I think Seregios not having a new variant or subspecies makes him special less is more with Seregios we need more monsters like him kept simple with no need for 3000 elemental super blow up attacks.
I'm not sure about his design, but I love how he's inspired by irl birds of prey and how much his attacks with talons resemble movements of falcons
Also I really like his proportions and/or posture in Rise.
I think threvshould be a variant called phantom seregios who has the fanmade shadow element
9:42 well i mean since it parralels rathalos so well. rathalos's subspecies is pretty simple
Agree with everything. I haven't played GU but it looks like that is his best iteration so far. SB did him so dirty, it's criminal.
An ice subspecies would fit nicely i think. Frost scales inflicting bleed and iceblight or maybe cause small frost puddles similar to velkhana
Steve gave me rapid-fire slicing lbg which is my go-to weapon for literally anything in the game, every single fight feels like a reactionary dance.
Now with Bloodblight being a new status effect, they could make a Subspecies that deals this status effect insted of bleeding.
the biggest sin sunbreak did was remove rolling weapon sharpness on seregios' weapons but keeping chaotic gore magala's messed up affinity

Maybe life steal as a callback to honing weapons for life steal in 4 Ultimate.
thats officially every flagship now right?
He still has to do one for Espinas which was the Flagship Monster of Frontier.
That could be a cool idea but we do have a lot of invaders already!
@connorthompson9 Considering they attacked that herd of Lightning rod pangolins, I don't think they're small monsters
If they sped up his rate of attack and gave him the old sweep, it would fix a lot of my issues with him.
Always thought a varient of Seregios would have poisoned blades. Always seemed a natural next step to me.
TBF I never really found both versions of bleed to be that scary
Can't wait for the resurgence team to bring back mah pinecone:)
Hey Heavy Wings, anytime you’ll cover Espinas from MHRise:SB? Maybe what this could mean for the future too since Espinas is from Frontier?
I remember being shocked and disappointed when I got my first tail cut on him, when I got it I saw no difference of the tail and was confused. Then when I found the spike on the ground I was like "THATS IT???" I was hoping for something meaty like Rathalos or Baselgease
That happens with a lot of monsters tbh. It's usually when their tails are important to their movesets, like with Magnamalo or Malzeno.
A neat variant would be having his scales explode after he fires them.
I found out someone gave it a very deceptive shoulder tackle in g rank
I was not impressed.
he is the single greatest thing to come of the that MH1 desert.
His Sunbreak version is my favorite version of him.
Seregios in Sunbreak got one of the best fights at the cost of the gear.💀😭
They gotta introduce a new element in Wilds (earth perhaps?) and then give a Steve subspecies that element.

Ok after watching the video, I can agree its a shame that the seregios weapons lost individuality (even if i use them myself) but it feels like sunbreak seregios was MADE to be fought in anomaly quests, his faster moves compensate for his lack of moves and his large healthbar make his fight more enjoyable and difficult
I think SereGOAT doesnt really need a subspecies, since why should somebody change perfection ?
Kind of unrelated, but considering this video is about Seregios and I’ve been wanting to share this opinion for a while, I might as well say it:
In a fight between Seregios and Astalos, I think Seregios would win a majority of the time.
I think Seregios is just fine without a subspecies, I mean so we really need a seregios that just shoots lightning or fire? Now that I think about it now, maybe inflicting poison would be cool. (Now I am just contradicting myself)

@@HeavyWings yeah to me a turf war with both raths should have been the priority over gore, didn't like that approach
Why wasnt he in the other maps on rise thats so weird
He was only an invader in 4U specifically because Apex Seregios was forcing the others out from their main habitats. Once Apex was taken care of, they all kind of moved back. That's why in Gen and Rise he's in a few specific areas.
I think Rise put him in the Shrine Ruins/Citadel so he could have a turf war with Gore Magala.
Ah so sorta a invasive species but more dangerous
I dunno if he's more dangerous than Deviljho but he disrupted a ton of things in 4U/
@@HeavyWings I meant like more dangerous because it’s like the Florida invasive species but harder to get rid them
downgrade or not, i find his sunbreak version much MORE FUN TO FIGHT specifically, not better, but MORE FUN. Why? because 4u is great, except he’s too good, or, too fast.
Great idea!
The perfect steve would be 4u with Sunbreak addons like new moves and harder legs
Also i much prefer big steve so you arent whiffing most of your hits, courtesy of yet another annoying gu steve hunt
Damn rise made my boy sergie kinda a puss 😢😢😢 the ferocity of the apex one was insane
Seregios in 4U was a push over, just attack his feet and hes 80% of the hunt helpless on the ground.
Maybe more just a filler
I was so disappointed by his fight in sunbreak. I found it so much more annoying compared to previous entries.
seregios is like the most mid of the monsters... maybe nibelsnarf is even more mid but at very least nobody expects anything from nibel
Nibelsnarf's weapons and armor are cool as fuck, and it has a really unique mechanic with the bomb fishing. Nibelsnarf is not mid, you just can't consistently hunt them.
@@TornaitSuperBird cringe
MH rise/break was just an awful game overall. The fights where not as fun as other games. Specially sereg.
because Rise is trash. It was made for kids so they won't go around and complaint that the game is hArD and uNfAiR
Ok Fiver
Love pinecone bro. Always been one of my favourite monsters. I love how unique his movements are, love his fight, love how all his equipment looks. I still think the sunbreak version is great, even if I agree he isn't as good as he was in 4u. Poor guy really gets neglected by capcom though
